“This… Big Sister Boss, this isn’t really our fault…” the burly man with scarred hands said, looking troubled.
If word got out about this pitiful expression, no one would believe it belonged to Blood Arm, one of the Target Heads of West Street.
“That’s right… Big Sister Boss… during this month of unified gang management… we’ve been focused on big business… we didn’t have time to worry about whether those beggars stayed or left…”
The person who followed up on Blood Arm’s words was a woman with a seductive figure.
Her shapely legs were covered in tattoos that climbed all the way up to her face.
She was also a Target Head of West Street, known in the underworld as Scorpion.
“Heh… fine. You can head back now then. Save those words for the Lady when she returns.”
The blonde girl addressed as Big Sister Boss gave a cold smile and tossed the letter in her hand onto the desk.
“That’s enough. You may leave.”
Ugh… Hearing her words, everyone present subconsciously shrunk their necks.
“Wait… please don’t, Miss Jenny. This doesn’t have anything to do with the rest of us, does it?” the small, rat-faced man standing to the side said with a mournful expression.
They were still quite afraid of this Lady.
Although these people held positions similar to Blood Arm and Scorpion — all being gang leaders of underground organizations ruling various streets — they were used to acting like tyrants. A faint, murderous aura even hung around them.
But these people only dared to be arrogant before commoners and low-ranking nobles.
Now, the person standing before them was the representative of the daughter of the highest-ranking noble in East County.
These thugs were desperate to climb aboard this great ship and cling to the mast to ensure they didn’t fall off.
How could they possibly do anything reckless and ruin their own futures?
So at this moment, everyone looked at the two Target Heads from West Street with unfriendly, even hateful eyes.
If these two idiots caused them to leave a bad impression of incompetence before their master… being killed 100 times wouldn’t be enough for them.
Blood Arm and Scorpion immediately felt targeted by everyone, and their expressions soured.
“Big Sister Boss, we truly did fail this time… we’ll accept any punishment, but about the Lady’s side…”
Scorpion was clearly smarter and more meticulous than Blood Arm.
This matter was absolutely unacceptable.
It wouldn’t just leave a bad impression on their master; it would also implicate others and draw massive resentment.
One had to understand that even though they didn’t operate on the same turf, the people gathered here who were chosen and recruited by Miss Jenny were no saints.
If today’s matter ended as she said and they just left like this, they likely wouldn’t have a single day of peace afterward.
“Heh, I wouldn’t call it a punishment…” Jenny’s finger slowly tapped on the desk.
Compared to when she first met Ileya, the girl was still a bit green, but she had already undergone a complete transformation.
A subtle aura unique to human rulers naturally radiated from her.
“It’s just that since this happened on West Street, then… you should be able to clear this up before the Lady returns, right?”
As she spoke, the blonde girl slowly raised her head.
Her eyes first landed on Blood Arm and Scorpion, then slowly swept over everyone present.
The implication was clear.
Aside from the thugs who rose purely through brute force, everyone else understood Jenny’s meaning.
Their gangs had only been unified into the Great Alliance for a month.
Though a few internal factions had begun to form, at this stage, a pull on one hair would affect the whole body.
This matter was highly valued by those above.
Therefore, no one could stand aside.
Everyone had to act together!
“Yes!” Scorpion spoke up immediately.
“Under… understood…” Blood Arm lowered his head slowly, though his tone held a hint of reluctance.
After all, they were just looking for a few beggars.
Their current business was making dozens of gold coins every second; where would they find the time…?
“Since the Lady values this matter so much, we will certainly provide our full assistance!”
The mournful, rat-faced fellow from before rolled his eyes and was the first to bow and state his position.
“Us too!” Everyone else bowed as well.
“Mhm…” Jenny was fairly satisfied with their answers.
She secretly made note of the few who seemed reluctant, then waved her hand to let them leave.
This matter wasn’t actually as serious as Jenny had made it sound.
However, it was a way to see who could be used and who should not be trusted with important tasks.
“Sigh~” Inside the dim Study, Jenny leaned back in her chair and slowly rubbed her temples.
This past month, she had indeed lived more fully than she had in the previous dozen or so years.
She also realized that being in a high position was indeed not easy… especially when she wanted to keep everything under control.
“Just now… two of them showed murderous intent toward you.”
In the very next second, Erika, the Wind Veiler who originally belonged to the Hunter’s Blade but was later recruited by Ileya, slowly stepped out from the shadows behind the bookshelf.
As Jenny’s personal guard, she naturally had to be by this newly promoted superior’s side at all times.
“Do you need me to… call those two back privately?”
Erika raised an eyebrow slightly while looking at the slumped, lazy figure of Jenny in the chair.
There was one thing she had to admit. She was indeed inferior to Miss Jenny.
Over the past month, she had watched the person before her grow from a somewhat naive girl into what she was now, stumbling along the way.
Although there was still a distance to go before she became a true Great Person, this small amount of prestige required a world-shaking change.
However, what the others didn’t know was that in her downtime, Jenny would reveal her true self.
Right now, she just looked like a somewhat lazy and beautiful young woman.
“Whew… forget it. It’s normal for guys like that to have that mindset after being at the bottom for so long… We’re short on hands right now. Let’s see how things stand after this is over~”
Jenny waved it off, her body seeming to soften even further as she sank into her chair.
But in her heart, she was thinking, ‘When exactly will the Lady return… I haven’t seen her for a month. I miss her~’
The image of that snow-white hair and those smiling red eyes surfaced in her mind.
Jenny instantly felt a strange change in her tired body. A way to relieve stress…
‘Well… since the work is done… how about…’
She turned her head and looked at Erika, who was standing beside her with a look of pity for some reason.
“Whew, I’m tired. That’s all for today… go and get some rest~”
Jenny slowly stood up and gave a long stretch.
Phew… The coat draped over her shoulders fell onto the chair, and her well-developed curves were partially visible under her thin loungewear.
Gulp…
For some reason, Erika subconsciously stared dazed, and a faint blush appeared on her face — one she hadn’t even noticed herself.
“Erika?”
“Ah? Cough, cough, well… then I’ll take my leave.”
For some reason, Erika suddenly felt an urge to run away.
Taking the opening, she quickly strode out of the room.
