That terrifying little girl finally left.
As her petite figure vanished into the red mist, the oppressive feeling of death pressing down on the van’s roof dissipated.
White Night’s Soul Body floated by the window. Although she was exhausted and her form had grown dim, she forced herself to stay alert for the night watch.
“…Little White Night.”
Su Shuang’er murmured in her sleep, her limbs wrapped around White Night’s rear wheel and frame. With her cheek pressed against the cold crossbar, her breathing soon became steady.
Mu Yingying also adjusted her seat, stretching her long legs as much as possible in the cramped space. She covered herself with a jacket and fell asleep shortly after.
Initially, White Night remained highly vigilant, monitoring every movement outside the window.
But as the minutes ticked by, boredom began to set in.
‘It’s so quiet…’
Bored, White Night controlled her Soul Body to float aimlessly around the cabin.
Before she knew it, her gaze fell upon the two sleeping women, and she found herself unable to look away.
The dark red moonlight filtered through the window, making the scene inside the cabin look… unique.
First to catch her eye was Su Shuang’er, who was clinging tightly to her.
Auntie Frost was curled up defenselessly. Because the cabin was narrow, her posture was a bit awkward, which only served to emphasize the mature curves of her voluptuous figure.
The hem of her professional pencil skirt had ridden up slightly due to her sleeping position, revealing thighs with just the right amount of fleshiness. Her delicate skin seemed to glow under the dark red light.
What made White Night’s bicycle frame feel even hotter was that in her effort to hug the wheel, Su Shuang’er was practically pressed against the frame.
‘Gulp…’
White Night subconsciously swallowed.
As a bicycle, her senses were linked to her frame.
She could clearly feel Su Shuang’er’s heavy weight pressing against her with every breath.
That sensation…
‘Look not at what is improper,’ White Night chanted internally, hurriedly shifting her gaze in an attempt to be a proper night-watch bicycle.
However, as soon as she turned her head, she ran right into Mu Yingying in the passenger seat.
If Su Shuang’er was a ripe peach, then Mu Yingying was a piece of wild fruit.
Even in her sleep, this 190-centimeter-tall woman carried a strong sense of aggression.
Because her legs were so long, Mu Yingying had to rest them on the center console. Her tight denim shorts couldn’t quite contain the explosive muscle of her thighs, and her long, slender legs looked particularly striking in the moonlight.
Furthermore, this woman was a restless sleeper. The hem of her T-shirt had flipped up, revealing a section of her tight, firm waistline.
‘This is too much…’
White Night felt as if her soul was about to start smoking.
‘A gentle Auntie on the left, a wild Auntie on the right.’
‘Who could resist this?’
White Night covered her burning cheeks, feeling her throat go dry.
She floated in mid-air, looking at these two defenseless beauties who trusted her completely, feeling a sense of helplessness.
She was currently a bicycle.
Even the cleverest housewife cannot cook without rice.
Sigh…
Still, looking didn’t hurt.
At least Auntie Frost was willing to be affectionate with her. Auntie Frost was truly too good to her.
Watching Su Shuang’er’s trembling eyelashes and the rise and fall of her chest…
As if possessed, White Night floated a bit lower.
She leaned in close to Su Shuang’er’s face. If she had a physical body, she would have felt the woman’s warm breath.
Su Shuang’er seemed to be dreaming. Her brow furrowed slightly, and she murmured something incoherent.
“Little White Night… don’t run off… Auntie will protect you…”
As she spoke, her arms tightened their grip, and she rubbed her cheek against White Night’s cold crossbar, a peaceful smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.
White Night’s face instantly turned as red as a teapot.
Shyness and a strange sense of being moved intertwined, making her entire soul glow red.
She could still be cherished like this, even now.
Auntie Frost really treated her well, even thinking about protecting her in her dreams.
Perhaps it was a primal instinct to seek companionship under the high pressure of the Weird Apocalypse, but for White Night — an orphan who had never felt love — this feeling was intoxicating. The emotional pull was far stronger than any physical attraction.
She couldn’t spend the whole night watch staring at the aunties. White Night redirected her attention back outside.
A sudden commotion erupted from the depths of the camp.
‘Hmm?’
White Night grew alert.
the sound was chaotic, yet it didn’t sound like panic. Instead, it was a clamor filled with ecstasy and greed.
‘What’s going on?’
White Night peered through the cracked window.
In the distance, figures were moving around several campfires.
Even from afar, she could feel a bizarre, frenetic atmosphere. Cheers and exclamations were mixed together, and the scent of food drifted over on the wind.
‘Could it be…’
White Night’s heart skipped a beat.
‘Did those people really trade with that little girl?’
That Little Girl had felt so terrifying and evil.
Yet, in the face of extreme hunger and despair, there would always be those willing to take a risk.
‘Have they gone mad?’
White Night watched the cheering crowd, feeling a chill run down her spine.
In this lawless Doomsday, a Weirdness that granted every wish was the most terrifying kind of trap.
Despite her curiosity, White Night did not wake Su Shuang’er or Mu Yingying.
They were too tired.
Besides, if it was a trap, going out now would be a death sentence. If it was real… then it was someone else’s fortune, and it had nothing to do with them.
‘Better to be safe than sorry; I’ll just be a good little bicycle.’
White Night sighed, fighting off the waves of drowsiness as she continued to guard the two aunties inside the car through the dangerous night.
“Ugh…”
The next morning, Su Shuang’er rubbed her eyes and slowly sat up.
She had slept exceptionally soundly. Though her body ached from the awkward position, her spirit had recovered significantly.
She habitually reached out to touch the bicycle beside her.
“Good morning, White Night…”
However, when her gaze landed on the area above the bicycle, she froze.
White Night’s Soul Body was drooping listlessly in the air.
The once exquisite and lively black-haired girl now looked so translucent she was almost transparent, and two massive dark circles hung under her large eyes.
Even her floating was unsteady, looking as though she might fall at any moment.
“Yawn…”
White Night opened her mouth wide, letting out a yawn large enough to swallow a fist, with a crystalline tear hanging from the corner of her eye.
“Little White Night?”
Su Shuang’er was shocked and reflexively reached out to cup the girl’s face.
“What… what happened to you? Did a Weirdness attack last night? Did you fight them for 300 rounds?”
Mu Yingying, who had also been woken by the noise in the front seat, turned around and couldn’t help but snort with laughter at the sight of White Night.
“Good grief, is this the legendary soul exhaustion? Little White Night, what on earth did you do last night? How did you end up so depleted?”
‘Don’t… don’t mention it…’
White Night waved her hand weakly, her cheeks turning a mysterious shade of red.
She couldn’t exactly say she was in this state because she had spent the entire night staring at the two aunties’ bodies, leading to over-excitement on top of the exhaustion of the watch.
‘I… I was just doing my duty and keeping watch,’ White Night explained guiltily. ‘It was too noisy outside last night. I kept my eyes peeled and didn’t dare sleep.’
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.”
Su Shuang’er was filled with guilt, never for a moment doubting White Night’s intentions. She stroked White Night’s head sympathetically.
“Making you stay on guard all by yourself was too hard. Tonight… tonight Yingying and I will take turns. You must get some proper rest.”
“Yeah.”
Mu Yingying stretched. She didn’t tease her this time.
“As much as I love being lazy, exploiting child labor is indeed immortal. I’ll take over tonight. My coin tells me I’ll have good luck tonight.”
“Alright, it’s settled then,” Su Shuang’er decided.
After a quick cleanup, the two of them led White Night out of the van.
The camp was even noisier this morning than it had been last night.
“Did you hear? Someone actually got an ability last night.”
“Right over there! That blond kid can conjure fireballs in his hand.”
“And that big guy, his strength is so great he can bend steel bars.”
Various discussions broke out everywhere, and the air was thick with agitation and fanatical heat.
“Want to go take a look?”
Mu Yingying raised an eyebrow, her gaze turning playful.
“Yes,” Su Shuang’er nodded, pushing White Night along. “White Night, go back inside the bike and rest. Don’t come out; save your energy.”
‘Okay.’
White Night nodded and whooshed back into the bicycle.
‘I’ll just listen from inside and catch up on some sleep.’
Su Shuang’er pushed the bicycle as she and Mu Yingying squeezed through the crowd.
Soon, they saw the so-called miracle.
In an open space, a young man with dyed blond hair was surrounded by a crowd.
His name was Xiao Yuan, and he was currently holding up his right hand with a look of extreme pride. In his palm, a ball of orange-red flame was burning, emitting scorching waves of heat.
“See this? This is what that Little Girl gave me last night.”
Xiao Yuan’s face was flushed with excitement.
“I just said I wanted power, that I didn’t want to be bullied anymore, and she gave me this — Fire Ability. I feel like I’m going to become the Flame Emperor.”
Beside him was a shirtless, burly man showing off his bulging muscles. He easily twisted a metal rod the thickness of a wrist into a pretzel.
A thin, tall girl was also demonstrating her ghost-like speed.
Aside from them, several survivors had piles of supplies at their feet.
Roasted chicken, fine wine, and entire crates of cigarettes.
“Man, if I’d known, I wouldn’t have been such a coward…”
“I want one too…”
“If I’d known, I wouldn’t have pretended to be asleep last night.”
“I want to trade with that Weirdness, too.”
The eyes of the onlookers were red with envy.
Regret, jealousy, and greed intertwined, making the entire scene look utterly maddening.
Just then, the crowd parted.
A man wearing golden-rimmed glasses and a black windbreaker walked over.
Wang Ziming.
He was the leader of the convoy and the one truly in charge.
Seeing Wang Ziming, Xiao Yuan became even more boastful.
“Brother Ming! Look!”
He stepped forward, holding the fireball as if to show it off.
“I’ve awakened too! Fire Ability! Surely I’m qualified to join the Core Team now?”
However, Wang Ziming didn’t show the slightest hint of praise.
He pushed up his glasses, his cold eyes devoid of any warmth behind the lenses.
“No.”
Those two simple words caused the smile on Xiao Yuan’s face to freeze instantly.
“Wh… Why?” Xiao Yuan asked in disbelief. “Brother Ming, I’m an ability user now.”
“Ability user?”
Wang Ziming sneered. His voice wasn’t loud, but it caused the surroundings to fall silent.
“You think obtaining power by selling who-knows-what to a Weirdness makes you an ability user?”
He scanned the restless crowd, his voice bone-chillingly cold.
“I told you yesterday. I advised against anyone making contact with that Little Girl.”
“But since you insisted on trading, I couldn’t stop you. After all… I respect the fate of others.”
“You think this is a good thing?”
Wang Ziming pointed at the fireball in Xiao Yuan’s hand, his eyes filled with a cruel clarity.
“That Little Girl is a Rule-based Weirdness. Her gifts are never free.”
“She had the power to kill us all in an instant, but she didn’t. She chose to trade.”
“This means that what she wants… is something far more可怕 than simple slaughter.”
At this point, Wang Ziming took a step back as if avoiding a plague.
“I plan to break camp and leave now.”
“As for those of you who traded with her last night…”
He gave a cold look to Xiao Yuan, the strong man, the tall girl, and those who had traded for supplies.
“Remember to stay far away from my convoy tonight. In fact, it’s best if you stay at the very back of the line.”
“Lest your blood spatters on me when you die.”
With that, Wang Ziming turned and left without looking back.
He left Xiao Yuan and the others frozen in place. The flames were still burning in Xiao Yuan’s hand, the light casting a pale, sickly glow over his face.
In the crowd, Su Shuang’er and Mu Yingying exchanged a look, both feeling a sudden chill.
‘The man with the glasses is right.’
White Night, who had been half-asleep, spoke in their minds.
‘Greed is a death sentence in the Apocalypse. Fortunately… we didn’t act rashly last night.’
“It’s all thanks to how clever you are, Little White Night.”
Su Shuang’er’s tense nerves relaxed a little. She gently patted the bicycle seat.
“Yeah, Little White Night deserves a reward!”
Mu Yingying took the opportunity to pat the seat as well, earning a sharp glare from Su Shuang’er.
“No touching. I’m the driver.”
