“I know!”
Bai Xu Yinsheng curled her lip dismissively. “But you and A’Zhao are being way too dramatic. I only went into the water to play for two hours. When I came back to shore, I saw so many people.”
“I… I…!!” Xu Yinsheng was nearly breathless with rage. She suddenly grabbed Zhao Yicheng’s hand, her beautiful eyes glaring at him.
“I’ll pay five million out of my own pocket if you lock her back in the cat cage tonight! You can play with her however you want for the remaining month—I won’t even care if she gets pregnant!!!
Dammit! This is the first time someone has dared to reject my kindness!! Even if I have to hurt myself just as much as I hurt her, I have to let out this anger!!”
Black Xu Yinsheng was fuming, and the words coming out of her mouth were completely unfiltered.
“…” Zhao Yicheng.
He was just about to comfort her when Bai Xu Yinsheng’s voice reached his ears again.
“A’Zhao wouldn’t treat me like that now.”
“A’Zhao is a good person now.”
As she spoke, she took Zhao Yicheng’s hand and placed it on her forehead, intentionally blinking her eyes at Black Xu Yinsheng.
She seemed to be using this method to prove that Zhao Yicheng was no longer the crazy lunatic he used to be.
Lowering his hand, Bai Xu Yinsheng leaned down. Under Xiao Hei’s surprised gaze, she gave Zhao Yicheng a light kiss on the forehead.
“A’Zhao, let’s go to Times Square tomorrow.”
***
Night, Times Square.
With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, the crowds were becoming increasingly dense. Snack stalls were lined up one after another, each with several tables set out.
Oyster omelets, tempura, taro balls, three-cup chicken, Jiang Mother Duck, salty crispy chicken, and all sorts of other delicacies from across the country were available.
The three of them were currently strolling through Times Square. Zhao Yicheng walked in front, while the two Xu Yinshengs followed behind.
At every stall, the three would stop for one or two minutes to look around. If they found something interesting, they would spend money to buy it.
At that moment, they were standing in front of a vendor selling rabbits, looking at a large white rabbit. It had a pair of fluffy ears, two big front teeth, and dark, beady eyes. It was locked in a cage, nibbling on a piece of cabbage. It was incredibly cute.
Black Xu Yinsheng was delighted and was about to pull out money to buy one when a cute little head leaned close to her face. “Xiao Hei, I want to eat shaved ice.”
Black Xu Yinsheng looked in the direction she was pointing.
The golden-yellow shaved ice gave off a fruity aroma. One could distinguish the scents of peach, passion fruit, mango, and various other fruits upon closer inspection. The surface was sprinkled with a layer of white sesame seeds, making one’s mouth water just looking at it.
To this, Black Xu Yinsheng simply muttered two words: “Not buying.”
“If you eat these cold foods now, you’ll be in pain when your period comes.”
“Then I want to eat Malatang,” Xiao Bai said, pointing at another shop.
“Not buying. Malatang is numbing and hot. Eating too much is bad for your stomach. If you eat it now, you’ll definitely have heavy bleeding when your period arrives.”
“Then I’ll drink some sour plum soup to help with digestion. That should be fine, right?”
“No. Eating too much sour stuff is bad for the stomach and can lead to acid reflux.”
“This isn’t okay, that isn’t okay… then what *can* I eat!”
“Rice, obviously,” Black Xu Yinsheng answered as if it were common sense.
“Think about it. Starch provides so much energy for humans. Didn’t you rely on that for surfing, mountain climbing, and jumping rope? An ‘athlete’ like you should eat more rice.”
Despite the explanation, Bai Xu Yinsheng could clearly feel that the other woman was using a public matter to settle a private grudge. She couldn’t do anything about it, so she could only stomp her feet in frustration.
In the past, the two of them had shared their wealth. However, after being tricked by Black Xu Yinsheng earlier, she had handed over her bank card. This was equivalent to handing over the reins of her financial power.
Normally, it wasn’t noticeable, but when the two of them had to decide whether or not to buy something, Xiao Hei, who held the financial power, had the final say.
“Alright, stop arguing.”
A large hand patted Xiao Bai’s head. Immediately after, a pink cloud of cotton candy was suddenly thrust before Bai Xu Yinsheng’s eyes. She accepted it excitedly and pinched off a small piece. The cotton candy melted the moment it hit her tongue.
“It’s so sweet. Xiao Hei, try some.”
She held the cotton candy out to Black Xu Yinsheng, but just as Black Xu Yinsheng reached out to take a piece, she suddenly pulled it back.
“A’Zhao bought this for me. There’s none for you.” She playfully stuck her tongue out at the other. The joy of a successful prank added even more sweetness to the cotton candy in her mouth.
“Hmph!” Black Xu Yinsheng gave Bai Xu Yinsheng a disdainful look. “Only children like snacks like cotton candy. I don’t like it at all.”
“Tsk, you’re just saying the grapes are sour because you can’t reach them.”
“Alright, alright. Xiao Hei’s will be ready in a moment,” Zhao Yicheng said, acting as the peacemaker again. Having two “Little Yins” meant double the happiness, but it also required double the effort.
Soon, a pink cotton candy was finished and handed to Black Xu Yinsheng. She curled her lip dismissively and didn’t reach out to take it.
Zhao Yicheng held the cotton candy himself, pinched off a small piece, and held it to her lips.
“Try it. It’s very sweet.”
Black Xu Yinsheng reluctantly opened her mouth. After a moment, her eyes lit up!
Soon, the three of them were wandering through Times Square again, each holding a stick of cotton candy.
With the Mid-Autumn Festival near, the foot traffic was heavy. Even though the three of them intentionally walked toward less crowded areas, the flow of people didn’t seem to decrease.
“How about we go see a movie?” After finishing her cotton candy, Bai Xu Yinsheng threw the stick into a trash can. She looked at the giant movie promotional screen in Times Square and made the suggestion.
“Sure.”
“Okay.”
Since no one objected, it was a unanimous vote.
The three of them found a random cinema, but a dispute broke out when it came time to buy tickets.
The main argument was between Black Xu Yinsheng and Bai Xu Yinsheng. One wanted to watch an action mecha film, while the other wanted to watch a romantic comedy. Since they couldn’t agree, a conflict ensued.
Zhao Yicheng watched from the side. As long as the two Little Yins weren’t physically hurting each other, he generally wouldn’t intervene and would instead observe silently.
What exactly was this ‘Twin Lotus’?
Was Xu Yinsheng split down the middle?
The more he spent time with Xiao Hei and Xiao Bai, the deeper the confusion in his heart became.
Both action mecha and romantic comedies were Xu Yinsheng’s hobbies. As her best friend of more than twenty years, he was certain of this.
Xiao Hei leaned toward action mecha, while Xiao Bai leaned toward romantic comedies. Did this mean something?
Ultimately, after thinking for a long time, he couldn’t come to a conclusion. Under Bai Xu Yinsheng’s shameless onslaught of crying and making a scene, Black Xu Yinsheng was forced to give up the action mecha choice and pick the unpopular romantic comedy instead.
The three of them entered the theater. There were only a few people inside—or more accurately, it was just the three of them.
