The self-introduction segment was nothing new.
It was still just a sequence of introducing one’s name, city of residence, hobbies, cultivation, and the types of magic and weapons they excelled in.
Of course, providing combat information for the last part was optional; there was no mandatory requirement if someone was unwilling to reveal their details.
Ling Xiaoyou sat upright on the sofa, watching her colleagues stand up and sit down one after another.
Somehow, it felt like the scene of students introduced themselves when classes were being assigned at the start of a new school term.
Although those days were already a distant memory for her, she still felt a strong sense of déjà vu.
The introductions proceeded quite quickly.
Everyone gave a brief summary of themselves before passing the turn to the next person.
Soon, it was Ling Xiaoyou’s turn to introduce herself.
She stood up from her seat and glanced at the crowd, noticing that everyone’s gaze was focused on her.
Ling Xiaoyou did not suffer from stage fright.
She looked at the group and offered a calm, elegant smile, seemingly wanting to prove that she was not just a cute, mascot-like creature.
“Hello everyone, my name is Ling Xiaoyou. Ling as in spirit, and You as in ghost.”
“Regarding my cultivation, I have only recently stepped into the Soul Gathering Stage. If any colleague wishes to discuss matters of practice with me, I will do my best to answer, but please forgive me if I cannot provide an answer.”
“As for my preferred weapons and magic, I personally use a bow, and for magic, I am proficient in the Water Elemental Technique, and…”
She paused for a moment before continuing.
“And Speed-type Spells.”
“In terms of hobbies, I enjoy reading journals and magazines, as well as acquiring new knowledge through the internet.”
‘It’s actually just reading webnovels and scrolling through videos, but I’ve beautified those two hobbies with my wording.’
As she thought this to herself, she gave a polite nod to the group and said,
“That is the end of my self-introduction. The next person can please — “
Before she could finish, a clean-cut colleague raised her hand high, like a student wanting to answer a teacher’s question in class, and said,
“Um, can I ask a question…”
Ling Xiaoyou looked at the colleague with confusion, not understanding what she wanted to say.
After meeting Ling Xiaoyou’s gaze, the colleague looked away with some embarrassment before summoning her courage.
She looked at Ling Xiaoyou earnestly and asked,
“If I want to rub your head, then I need — “
“Sorry, that is not allowed!”
Ling Xiaoyou felt her polite smile beginning to crack, but she restrained the urge to beat up this person who couldn’t read the room.
She spoke in a polite but distant tone,
“I personally do not like strangers touching me, so please restrain that thought, alright?”
“…Oh, okay.”
Hearing Ling Xiaoyou’s explicit rejection, the clean-cut colleague sat down in disappointment.
At the same time, Ling Xiaoyou could clearly hear a chorus of disappointed sighs rising and falling around her.
Ling Xiaoyou: …That’s enough out of you lot!
‘Just how “pettable” do I look that so many of you want to rub my head!’
To prevent her expression from completely crumbling, she hurried to sit down and left the remaining introductions to the next person.
Fortunately, this incident was just a small interlude.
Although the other colleagues were disappointed by Ling Xiaoyou’s clear rejection, they did not forget the business at hand and watched the other introductions seriously.
This allowed Ling Xiaoyou to breathe a sigh of relief.
She then turned her gaze toward the next colleague who was about to introduce herself.
It was a cute girl with orange hair and somewhat rounded cheeks that still had a bit of baby fat.
She was over 10 centimeters taller than Ling Xiaoyou, but she still fell into the category of having a petite build.
Notably, a pair of furry cat ears on top of her head were twitching restlessly, seemingly due to the nervous anxiety caused by the gazes of those around her.
Even the fluffy tail behind her was drooping slightly, no longer wagging as it had at the beginning.
Indeed, this was the Hajimi colleague Ling Xiaoyou had noticed from the very start!
Facing the curious, appreciative, or longing gazes of those around her, the cat girl appeared quite nervous.
What made her most nervous was Ling Xiaoyou, whose adorable appearance looked like a masterpiece painstakingly carved by a master dollmaker.
Ling Xiaoyou’s pure and curious gaze made her feel as if her soul was being purified, which simultaneously made her even more anxious.
When people get nervous, they tend to make mistakes, and the cat girl was no exception.
As a result, the first syllable that came out of her mouth made her face flush red.
“Miao…”
She instinctively wanted to cover her mouth, but under the gaze of the crowd, she restrained that thought.
Her mind raced, and she quickly corrected herself.
“Miao… Miao Miaomiao. That is my name.”
At that moment, Miao Miaomiao was incredibly grateful that her parents had given her this name; otherwise, she would have wanted to find a hole to crawl into!
Miao miao miao?
Hearing the name of this cat girl colleague, Ling Xiaoyou was stunned.
Subconsciously, she thought the colleague had used cat language to introduce her name.
But she soon realized that it was just a name with syllables similar to “meow meow meow.”
‘Mm, it still feels quite suitable for this cat girl colleague.’
Seemingly having regained some confidence due to her quick-witted response, Miao Miaomiao’s subsequent introduction became much more normal.
“I am from Danhe City. My hobbies are playing with yarn, swinging, and catching mice.”
As she said this, Miao Miaomiao heard some colleagues let out soft chuckles.
Even though they were well-hidden, she heard them clearly.
However, she didn’t get angry.
After all, her hobbies were indeed different from others, and it was normal to be laughed at.
She had long since grown used to it.
“The magic I excel in includes the Constitution Enhancement Type, as well as Strength and Speed types.”
“Regarding weapons…”
As she spoke, Miao Miaomiao raised her right hand.
That small, fair hand transformed in an instant, turning into a massive cat paw!
Ling Xiaoyou took one look and found it difficult to turn her gaze away.
‘Wow, such a big cat paw. Those paw pads must be very comfortable to touch!’
But she restrained the thought.
This was her colleague, after one or two cat strips, not some little cat she could just toy with.
She had to respect her!
“I do not have a weapon, or rather, my own sharp claws are my best weapon.”
As Miao Miaomiao finished speaking, several sharp claws popped out from the cat paw, carrying a sharp, cold glint.
Seemingly sensing the threat of that cold glint, the colleagues who had been laughing at Miao Miaomiao’s hobbies immediately fell silent and ceased their laughter.
Miao Miaomiao nodded to everyone and left the self-introductions to the next person as she sat back in her seat.
