Every time an Abnormal Demon pierced the defense line of Tomorrow City, it caused a stir of concern and panic among the populace. However, as these incidents grew more frequent, the people gradually became numb to them, though that did not mean the citizens were no longer afraid of such events.
This particular Abnormal Demon intrusion once again stirred up a wave of terror.
However, upon learning that only a single flying-type Abnormal Demon had invaded, the citizens actually felt less afraid. This was because they could hide at home or retreat into the subways, which extended to second and even third underground levels; they weren’t afraid of flying-types at those depths at all.
Those things usually didn’t land; they only struck ground targets from the sky.
Unlike the common ground-type Abnormal Demons that would search house by house and point by point, ground-types would actually go down into the subways.
Well-prepared security personnel guided the citizens, ensuring they entered the underground facilities for refuge in an orderly manner.
Yet, one person moved against the flow, squeezing out from the crowd and holding a phone up to film the sky.
It was Liang Tai. At this moment, his livestream was being flooded with a dense barrage of gifts.
Watching other streamers meant just watching dancing or emotional chats, but Liang Tai was on the front lines, bringing everyone firsthand footage from the scene.
His livestream was extremely popular.
“Let’s take a look at the comments,” he read aloud. “‘The Abnormal Demon looks like a person wearing a bodysuit?'”
Liang Tai looked back up at the objects flying around in the sky. “Guys, I don’t know about that, but it looks pretty real. Is that whip the one belonging to Magical Girl Green Field? I can’t say for sure, though.”
While answering questions from the comments, he rushed toward the battlefield, finding a high vantage point to continue his stream.
Drones weren’t allowed in this vicinity today due to official regulations, so he had to rely on his own body and a handheld phone to broadcast.
In the sky, Golden Phoenix and Rinsing Red were still chasing that flying-type Abnormal Demon.
Even though they could see what looked like a zipper on the opponent’s body, they couldn’t reach a conclusion—or rather, they didn’t want to, lest their resolve waver.
The flying-type Abnormal Demon sprinted toward Tomorrow Plaza, approaching the landmark giant statue. With one strike of its whip, it snapped the statue that symbolized hope into two pieces.
The destroyed statue crashed to the ground, triggering panic among the people and infuriating the members of the Eastern Union.
“Kill it!”
“Go, Magical Girls!”
The people shouted.
Quite a few people had already sensed that something was wrong with this flying-type Abnormal Demon, and the members of the Special Task Force had already reported it to their superiors.
“This Abnormal Demon has a different behavioral pattern compared to the ones we’ve encountered before. It possesses high intelligence, almost like a human, and its actions are highly purposeful. We suspect this isn’t an Abnormal Demon at all.”
The Countermeasure Center gave a firm reply: “This is an Abnormal Demon. Do not hesitate. Prepare according to Plan C.”
“But the appearance of this Abnormal Demon doesn’t look like an Abnormal Demon.”
“Do not defy orders. This is an Abnormal Demon.”
“Fine.”
The captain of the Special Task Force gave the order unwillingly, continuing to act according to Plan C. Even though the members were full of suspicion, they could only endure it.
The so-called Plan C was to simply watch the show and let the Magical Girls handle the problem.
This made everyone feel like mere spectators. This was Tomorrow City, a city of humans; protecting humanity should have been the duty of the Special Task Force and the Human Union.
Now, however, they had to give this spotlight to the Magical Girls and watch with their own eyes as they saved Tomorrow City.
This made the Special Task Force very uncomfortable.
The Failure Team was also forced to watch from the sidelines. Big Brother had also contacted the Countermeasure Center, hoping to destroy the portal ahead of schedule.
Since they couldn’t fight and didn’t want to help the Magical Girls, then destroying the crucial portal shouldn’t be an issue, right?
The Countermeasure Center still rejected their proposal and ordered them to stand by.
Organizations like the Failure Team and the Special Task Force, which existed outside the inner circle, naturally didn’t know the reason why the Countermeasure Center had made this decision.
Even if they did know, they would likely only curse more fiercely.
Everyone had no choice but to continue watching as the flying-type Abnormal Demon destroyed other facilities in Tomorrow Plaza. Trees and flowers were whipped into a mess, and the fountain was sliced into two segments.
The destruction continued for over half an hour. The citizens in the plaza had mostly fled, leaving only a few who weren’t afraid of death to watch the show, Liang Tai among them.
The comments in the stream were also shouting fiercely, calling for blood and hoping to kill this Abnormal Demon that had trashed Tomorrow City as soon as possible.
Every single Abnormal Demon was unforgivable, and those that killed people or caused severe destruction made the spectators even more indignant.
The word “Kill” drifted across the livestream screen continuously.
Liang Tai didn’t offer much commentary, simply filming the combat scene.
Golden Phoenix and Rinsing Red executed a pincer attack, sandwiching the flying-type Abnormal Demon in the middle. It wasn’t that they had trapped the demon, but rather that the demon had stopped running, seemingly intending to fight.
Golden Phoenix: “Where is she? What did you do to Silver Link?”
Carefully recalling the scenes of their past battles, Green Field’s mana had never been this vast. Usually, she was stingy when using her power, but now she used it as if she didn’t care about mana depletion at all.
“Guess where I got all this mana from?” The flying-type Abnormal Demon actually spoke, and it was a familiar voice.
“It really is you, Green Field.” Golden Phoenix wasn’t surprised. “You didn’t have that much mana last time.”
Green Field, wearing the Abnormal Demon suit, replied, “That’s right, my mana wasn’t that high, but I have a power bank now. She’s very cute.”
Looking at her massive two-meter-tall frame, even hiding three Magical Girls inside wouldn’t be a problem. It looked as if she were holding someone hostage inside.
Golden Phoenix: “Why are you doing this?”
Green Field: “I don’t want to answer. If you want to fight, then fight.”
Golden Phoenix: “Let her go. Don’t cause any more trouble, and I can let you go.”
Green Field: “I won’t.”
Today’s Green Field wasn’t as frantic; she had a bit more sanity, but she still made Golden Phoenix very angry.
No, this time it wasn’t just simple anger; it was killing intent.
Enchanting her weapon, her katana and arms were shrouded in golden flames.
In the past, she had only used this move against Abnormal Demons; she had never used it against a fellow Magical Girl.
“I will say this one last time. For the things you did today and the things you did to us before, I can let bygones be bygones. As long as you turn back now and let her go, that will be the end of it.”
Golden Phoenix’s tone was icy, her killing intent completely undisguised.
This was the second time Rinsing Red had seen her like this. She knew that Golden Phoenix truly intended to kill Green Field, her own kind; it was no longer a joke.
“Come.” Green Field didn’t say much more, already prepared for battle.
Taking the initiative, she used magic—it was the familiar Mana Siphon Circle. An invisible large circle with a fifty-meter radius shrouded the area.
Although this move posed a massive threat to Silver Link, it was also easily overcome by her.
Because this Mana Siphon Circle could not move; it was fixed in one spot.
Silver Link, who excelled at long-range attacks, could easily attack Green Field from the outside, only needing to worry about being dragged in.
Now that Silver Link was missing, they could only rely on Golden Phoenix and Rinsing Red to proactively enter and engage in close quarters.
