8:00 AM.
*Ding-dong!*
As the alarm rang out, the man on the bed woke up. He sat up, put on his slippers, and went through his usual routine of washing his face, brushing his teeth, and making breakfast. Soon, having finished all that, Zhao Yicheng went to the bathroom mirror to tidy his short hair and clothes. He picked up a pair of scissors, opened the package he had received yesterday, and took out the Pleasant Goat doll inside.
Looking at his fresh and handsome face in the mirror, he smiled.
Today was another day of pursuing Xu Yinsheng.
Just as he stepped out the door, he heard the roar of an engine. Immediately after, a flashy supercar sped toward them. It performed a high-difficulty turn before coming to a smooth and safe stop in front of the iron gates of Xu Yinsheng’s villa.
A short-haired man wearing a black leather jacket and sunglasses stepped out of the car.
He briskly opened the trunk and pulled out a Pleasant Goat doll. Upon closer inspection, his doll was larger and more refined than the one Zhao Yicheng held.
He rang the doorbell, and a crisp chime echoed.
Zhao Yicheng, standing at his own doorstep clutching his doll, watched the man’s behavior and couldn’t help but sneer inwardly. ‘Just this? Little Yin isn’t someone who can be bought with a mere doll.’
Ever since attending the last party, Zhao Yicheng understood that he wasn’t the only one with designs on Xu Yinsheng.
But who was he, and who were these other people? They weren’t even in the same league!
He and Xu Yinsheng shared twenty years of friendship. He knew all her hobbies and everything she liked; he even knew her XP.
To say they were childhood sweethearts was no exaggeration!
The villa’s iron gate opened, and a figure in pajamas walked out, rubbing bleary eyes.
“Ah!!”
‘Yes, just like that. The next moment, she’ll be pressing a shotgun against his forehead and telling him to get lost!’
‘Just like she did to me!’
Zhao Yicheng gritted his teeth hard.
Perhaps after being rejected so many times, his mindset had undergone a strange shift, becoming somewhat neurotic.
“A Pleasant Goat doll! My favorite! Old Du, thank you!” Xu Yinsheng exclaimed. She immediately opened the gate, snatched the Pleasant Goat doll from him, and gave it a big squeeze.
Then, she took his hand and led him toward the living room.
“Come in. You’ve come a long way; I’ll make you a cup of tea.”
Zhao Yicheng stood frozen.
The expression on his face twisted instantly!
The iron gate closed again, shutting out all the noise from the outside world.
Upon entering the living room, the man in sunglasses noticed a shiny, pitch-black shotgun leaning against the wall behind the door. He looked at Xu Yinsheng and asked, “What’s this?”
“There’s a very annoying person wandering around my villa every day. This gun is for him,” Xu Yinsheng replied casually before putting the shotgun away.
The two of them went into the living room and sat on the sofa.
Xu Yinsheng brewed a cup of tea for him and handed him a cigarette. The man in sunglasses took it but didn’t light it. Instead, he kept stealing glances at her from the corner of his eye.
Du Rutao, male, 31-year-old, currently unemployed, loves playing basketball. His parents work managing a foundation for others, making him something of a “rich second generation” by proxy.
Now, looking at the black-haired girl puffing on a cigarette on the sofa, Du Rutao’s thoughts drifted back to a few days ago.
At the time, his father had forced him onto a plane to Binhai City to meet their “little ancestor.”
That’s right, Xu Yinsheng was his family’s little ancestor.
Her parents were wealthy and well-connected. His family only managed a foundation for others—they were essentially “beggars on their knees.”
Still, managing a foundation wasn’t a shameful job.
Many people had no way to even get the credentials for such a position.
Returning to the present, Du Rutao continued to observe Xu Yinsheng. She had waist-length jet-black hair and a delicate, refined face. Her eyes were clear and bright, yet still carried the sleepiness of someone who hadn’t fully woken up. Her skin was as supple and smooth as a freshly peeled egg. Wearing oversized SpongeBob SquarePants pajamas, she looked tall and slender without appearing fragile.
She looked like a beautiful girl who had stepped right out of an anime—lovely, fresh, and feminine.
‘As expected of my old man,’ Du Rutao thought with a sigh. ‘He didn’t steer me wrong.’
Actually, he could guess his father’s intentions.
No matter how well you managed a foundation, you were still managing it for someone else. But if he could win over the daughter, they would become family. Converting public assets into private ones—what a joy that would be!
Initially, he had been against the idea.
Even though his family worked for others, they weren’t exactly poor.
Moreover, he had heard that this person used to be a man and was now a “counterfeit” woman who had undergone surgery. The thought of it had repulsed him the whole way there.
However… now…
*Thump, thump, thump.* His heart was racing. That fair face, that slender waist, the curves of her chest, and those long, graceful legs…
Du Rutao felt like he was about to have a nosebleed. This was simply too tempting. He had never seen such a top-tier specimen!
“Old Du, Old Du, why do you look so distracted?” A crisp, pleasant voice suddenly sounded in his ear. Du Rutao gazed at those gently parting red lips and spoke without thinking.
“You’re so beautiful.”
Xu Yinsheng’s face darkened instantly.
But she quickly returned to normal and said with a smile, “No big deal, I know. I was born with natural beauty. The line of people pursuing me could stretch from my front door to the entrance of the neighborhood. If my family didn’t have money, I could easily be a first or second tier actress in the entertainment industry.”
“Exactly! You’re stunning enough to make birds fall from the sky and fish sink to the bottom. Winning a Best Actor award wouldn’t be a problem!” Du Rutao praised her repeatedly, completely failing to notice the disdain and coldness deep in her eyes.
“How old are you this year?”
“Thirty-one.”
“A few years older than me. Should I call you Brother Du?”
“Cough, cough! What did you call me?” Du Rutao coughed a few times and couldn’t help but look at Xu Yinsheng. Their eyes met, and a hint of charm flashed through her pitch-black, refined gaze, making his heart flutter.
“I said…”
“Brother Du~”
The soft, flirtatious tone sent a jolt through Du Rutao’s entire body.
Things were developing too fast! He hadn’t even had time to get on the ride yet!
“Um… Brother Du, could you do me a favor?” Xu Yinsheng pouted, looking absolutely pitiful.
“Heh, if you call me ‘brother’ for a day, I’m your brother for life. As long as it’s within my power, I will go through fire and water without a second thought!” Du Rutao promised heroically, thumping his chest.
“Really?” Xu Yinsheng’s eyes lit up.
Du Rutao was stunned for a moment, then nodded.
Xu Yinsheng leaned close to his ear and whispered, “Brother Du, the man in the villa next to mine harasses me every day. *Sob, sob.* His family has some background, so the property management doesn’t dare to do anything.”
As she spoke, she rubbed her reddened eyes. Tears shimmered in them, making her look heart-wrenchingly vulnerable.
“Waaaah, I’m so scared.”
Du Rutao felt as if his heart had been ruthlessly squeezed. On a normal day, if he were to go up against a “rich second generation” with a background, he would at least check what that background was. He’d know who he could touch and who he couldn’t.
But in this moment, for some reason, a surge of protective instinct welled up in his heart. A cold light flashed in his eyes as he slammed his palm onto the coffee table and stood up abruptly, gritting his teeth.
“How outrageous! In broad daylight, in a civilized world, how can such an animal exist!”
“Sister Yinsheng, don’t stop me. I’m going to teach him a lesson right now!”
“Don’t, Brother Du! Please don’t get into a conflict because of me. I’m so afraid you’ll get hurt.”
“Hmph! Scars are a man’s glory. Besides, a piece of trash like him, capable of such sub-human behavior, deserves to taste the weight of my fist!”
Du Rutao was fuming, wishing he could tear that sub-human bastard into a thousand pieces immediately. But seeing the pale, panicked face of the girl beside him, he suppressed his rage.
He comforted her, saying, “Cough, cough. Don’t worry, Sister Yinsheng. I’ve practiced freestyle boxing. I’m just going to have a ‘civilized talk’ with him.”
“Really?” Xu Yinsheng suddenly stopped crying and gave him a sweet smile.
Du Rutao was dazed by her beauty. “Really.”
Watching his back disappear as he marched off to settle the score, Xu Yinsheng lit another cigarette for herself. Her fragile act vanished instantly.
Only cold indifference remained. She cursed under her breath as she flicked the cigarette butt into the trash can.
‘Damn it, another dog of a man lusting after my body!’
‘Hmph! Let them fight like dogs!!’
