The live show at the Budokan didn’t happen after all. Because the keyboardist was missing, the officials announced a temporary postponement.
Lin Xiaojue’s mood, already sullen, grew even heavier as she returned with Su Yaqing.
On the way, they bid farewell to Gu Xue and Xia Yao, who looked sickly, and the Budokan group disbanded. After returning to the Su Group with Su Yaqing, Lin Xiaojue sat on the sofa in frustration.
“It was a waste of time today. We didn’t do anything but sit at the Budokan for half a day. Qiu Yu and Xiao’an didn’t come, and Xiao Yu still hasn’t been found — just what is going on?” She leaned back against the sofa, her whole body slumping down.
“We can’t be blamed for this. It was just disappointing. After all, it was an act of force majeure that Mundi’s keyboardist went missing. There was nothing we could do to stop it.” Su Yaqing brewed a cup of honey tea and brought it over, handing it to Lin Xiaojue.
“Do you want some?”
“?” Lin Xiaojue raised an eyebrow. The memory of being controlled by that cake was still fresh in her mind. She looked at Su Yaqing, unsure of what she was plotting.
“You drink it first. I’m not thirsty,” she said, waving her hand to signal that she wasn’t interested.
Su Yaqing showed a puzzled expression, her gaze flickering. She coughed lightly and went back to brew another pot.
‘There’s definitely something fishy going on.’
Lin Xiaojue couldn’t help but scoff inwardly.
Even though they had made their relationship official, she still couldn’t let her guard down. ‘I’ll have to punish Su Yaqing later, or she’ll definitely have me wrapped around her finger.’
“Yaqing, why are you brewing another pot? Isn’t it a waste not to drink that one?” Lin Xiaojue said to herself as she walked to the other side of the sofa to sit down, keeping her distance.
“Ah, that pot wasn’t brewed very well, so I’m changing it.”
“So you’d give your friend something that wasn’t brewed well?” Lin Xiaojue countered, but it seemed to have no effect. Her offensive was neutralized in the next moment.
“Then Xiaojue must drink this well-brewed pot!” Su Yaqing shook the spoon in her hand, a smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
She poured out the honey water, took a small sip, narrowed her eyes in blissful enjoyment, and then handed over the cup she had just used.
Lin Xiaojue was speechless.
“Can you be any bolder?” Lin Xiaojue said helplessly. This person really didn’t know how to hide anything from her.
“But I drank it, and there’s nothing wrong.” Su Yaqing blinked and smiled. She indeed showed no reaction. “Are you really not going to have a sip, Xiaojue?”
She pushed the teacup in front of Lin Xiaojue. Lin Xiaojue laughed. It was as if she were afraid. She would drink it!
*Glug, glug…*
She drained it in one breath. It felt warm and sweet in her mouth, with a silky texture… Lin Xiaojue savored it. This batch was indeed brewed very well. It seemed like something other than honey had been added.
After finishing the cup of honey water, her body warmed up significantly. At that moment, Lin Xiaojue remembered that she hadn’t changed out of her maid outfit yet.
Although it was a bit of a hassle, Lin Xiaojue was very skilled at changing clothes. After spending a moment in the fitting room, she walked out.
She wore a hip-length white sweater and knee-length shorts. Since Su Yaqing’s home was heated, it wasn’t too cold.
As she stepped out of the fitting room, a shiny fragment caught Lin Xiaojue’s attention. She picked it up and realized it was a mirror fragment. Immediately, she thought of Xiao Yu again.
‘Could Xiao Yu be at home?’
“Xiao Yu!”
Lin Xiaojue tried calling out, but the fitting room remained silent. No one responded, and she could only hear the white noise in her head.
‘Is she not here?’ She tucked the fragment away and carefully inspected the mirror in the fitting room. She discovered that a piece was indeed missing from the center corner, revealing the dark wall behind it.
There were no extra cracks around the edges. If Xiao Yu hadn’t caused it, then…
‘Probably not.’ Lin Xiaojue shook her head, trying not to think about it. Returning to the living room, she found that Su Yaqing had already started preparing dinner.
Su Yaqing pressed down on a fish head with one hand and raised a kitchen knife with the other, striking it hard. The salmon rolled its eyes.
“Are we having sashimi tonight?” Lin Xiaojue leaned back on the sofa. For some reason, the strange feeling from this morning had returned.
Her mind kept throbbing, forcing her gaze to stay fixed on Su Yaqing. Su Yaqing was about 170 centimeters tall with a curvaceous figure.
Her thin clothes were slightly translucent, even revealing a glimpse of the alluring scenery beneath.
Lin Xiaojue tried her best to stop herself from fantasizing about last night and turned to her phone to distract herself.
She opened Pilipili and logged into her official account. The first thing she saw was a high-impact poster. Magical Girl Tianyu stood proudly atop the ruins, facing a Residual Beast surrounded by black flames.
This was the Residual Beast Lin Xiaojue had encountered during her first battle. It had been a truly difficult fight.
She opened her personal homepage. The latest update was from one month ago, but the comments had somehow reached 100,000.
Lin Xiaojue didn’t dare to click on the comments, fearing they would be filled with strange remarks.
Just like the fans desperately searching for her on TV, they seemed only one step away from being committed to a mental hospital.
‘It’s really irresponsible of me, and it’s not very friendly to my fans, but I really can’t take responsibility right now. I’ll explain everything once I’ve recovered my strength.’
‘It’ll probably be a disaster by then,’ Lin Xiaojue thought with a bitter smile. ‘It’ll be hard for them to accept that the magical girl they’ve been supporting is actually a guy.’
She exited her personal homepage and was immediately hit with today’s trending news.
Opening it, she saw it was indeed about Mundi. Because the live show was canceled due to the keyboardist’s absence, a large number of fans were venting online.
Mundi’s reputation was temporarily overwhelmed by pessimistic comments like, “Are they going to disband?”
The comment section under the official account had been wiped clean, and the last comment that popped up before the section was closed had also gone silent.
“Did you see the news about Mundi? Xiao Yu is the keyboardist!”
Just then, a message popped up at the top of the screen. It was from the Guangyuan City Magical Girl Team group chat — the place where everyone usually communicated about missions.
Since the Residual Beast disasters had subsided, the group had become a place for daily chatter.
She clicked on the message. The sender was Magical Girl Xi, also known as An Yuxi. She had forwarded a video.
Lin Xiaojue clicked on it and found that it was a video from a blogger presenting evidence that Magical Girl Scarlet was Mundi’s keyboardist.
It described the similarities between Scarlet and “Miss Salvation” in great detail.
It used their height, the body shapes shown in official promotional images, and the audio recorded at live performances to try and prove they were the same person.
Lin Xiaojue felt a bit disgusted because the blogger had even screenshotted Scarlet’s chest and used a convincing set of formulas to calculate the chest, waist, and hip measurements for both Scarlet and “Salvation,” not missing a single detail.
‘If he didn’t have Scarlet’s merchandise as his profile picture, I would’ve thought he was an anti-fan.’
