It was another morning.
Ye Xingyao opened her eyes in a daze, blinking a few times.
She suddenly realized that the ceiling didn’t belong to her familiar room; instead, it looked very much like the safe house she frequently used.
Ye Xingyao sat up, a strange sensation of friction making her feel odd. The snow-white quilt slid halfway down her shoulders. She reached out her right hand to touch her forehead, feeling as if she were in the middle of a blackout — though that was just a figure of speech, as she had never been drunk… well, she hadn’t drunk many times before.
Her mind felt empty, yet something very important seemed to be faintly reminding her to remember.
Last night… oh, right, last night…
The Forest Elves, the humanoid monsters…
And then… that lethal blow reappeared in her mind, and her body couldn’t help but tremble.
“Ugh — !”
After quite a while, she finally calmed down. Ye Xingyao breathed heavily, like a drowning person suddenly reaching the surface, before finally letting out a long sigh.
‘Why does something feel wrong?’
Ye Xingyao lowered her head and saw the small curves of her chest. Beneath the white quilt, a hint of cherry-pink was hidden, looking quite enticing.
‘Huh?’
As she tilted her head, strands of hair from her forehead fell forward. She reached out a slender hand to pinch the loose hair; judging by the touch, this hair was undoubtedly her own.
‘Wait, what???’
She suddenly recalled having a dream after being attacked that night.
…
“Strictly speaking, I am the Star Elf.”
“?!”
“But soon, I won’t be.”
“I’m about to die, can you please stop speaking in riddles?”
No, not that part. There was more…
“…Sorry, I really don’t know how to express it.”
“In any case, please live well in my place.”
‘Live well in her place… Her? She was the Star Elf?’
‘Then what am I now?!’
…
Ye Xingyao didn’t believe in such nonsense. She had to find out the truth today!
Bracing herself as if facing death, Ye Xingyao pulled back the quilt!
Regrettably, the facts were exactly as she thought, but not as she had hoped.
‘Huh?!!’
Out of the corner of her eye, she seemed to see a white figure. Ye Xingyao looked closely and saw a pure white young girl leaning over the side of her bed, currently about to wake up.
Glancing at her pointed ears, Ye Xingyao suddenly understood the other person’s identity.
‘Oh, it’s just Yi Shiyue… that’s a relief…’
‘Wait, no!!! It’s Yi Shiyue!’
Watching the Moon Elf slowly wake up, Ye Xingyao had never felt as nervous as she did now. She could only pull at the quilt, trying her best to cover her naked body. Her smooth back was exposed to the air, and she could feel a slight chill.
“Mmm… Xingyao?”
Yi Shiyue raised her head and discovered the black-haired girl frantically trying to cover herself. Her purple pupils wavered visibly, and she woke up almost instantly, subconsciously uttering the name she had been longing for.
“Shiyue…”
The moment Ye Xingyao spoke those two words, Yi Shiyue stood up decisively. Like an agile feline, she climbed onto the bed and leaned over, staring intently into the girl’s deep blue eyes.
Under the other’s pressure, the former had no choice but to relax her strength and lie back. However, the contact of her back with the bed didn’t provide any sense of security; instead, it made her even more nervous.
“Shiyue… mmm — mph…”
Just as Ye Xingyao was about to ask something, Yi Shiyue roughly silenced her with a kiss.
Her lips were slightly cool but incredibly fervent. The comfortable, soft touch left Ye Xingyao momentarily intoxicated. The kiss was desperate; she could even feel the other’s teeth through those passionate lips.
Simultaneously, Yi Shiyue’s hands didn’t stop. A small hand stroked over her head, while the other pushed somewhat forcefully between her back and the bed, wrapping around to pull her into a tight embrace.
A flush uncontrollably crept onto both girls’ faces at the same time, whether from shyness or lack of oxygen from the intense kiss.
“…Mph… Shiyue… mmgh!!”
The moment she was about to run out of breath, Yi Shiyue released her lips to let her breathe. But just as she was about to say something, Yi Shiyue leaned down once more without hesitation, pressing firmly against her lips.
Under the repeated sudden attacks, Ye Xingyao’s body gradually went limp. How could she not feel the incredibly intense passion and longing radiating from Yi Shiyue?
Ye Xingyao also lost herself in it, clumsily doing her best to respond to the kiss.
‘Even if only one percent of my feelings get through… rest easy, Shiyue, I’m back.’
They kissed for a long time, until Ye Xingyao felt herself growing weak. Driven by her former pride, a strong surge of shame and indignation welled up in her heart. She gently pushed Yi Shiyue, and the latter, seemingly sensing she had gone a bit too far, pulled back sheepishly.
As their lips parted, a silvery thread shimmered like stars under the light, dripping onto Ye Xingyao’s chin with a cool sensation.
“Ha… huff…”
“Huff…”
The two faced each other on the bed, blue eyes meeting purple ones. Yi Shiyue’s loose white hair fell around Ye Xingyao, intertwining with her own dark hair that seemed to hold 10,000 colors.
Then, Yi Shiyue leaned down again, causing Ye Xingyao to startle, thinking another round was coming. Instead, the girl buried her head into her slightly heaving chest, wrapping her arms tightly around her waist.
Ye Xingyao’s tense body gradually relaxed. One hand rested on her childhood friend’s shoulder, while the other reached through her hair to gently stroke her back.
“Xingyao…”
After a while, Yi Shiyue called out weakly from her embrace. Ye Xingyao could even feel the other’s warm breath through the quilt against her skin, warm and slightly feverish.
“Yes, I’m here. I’m back.”
Patting her shoulder, Ye Xingyao responded with the gentlest voice she could muster. She hadn’t expected such a melodic voice, as pleasant as a lark’s song, to come from her own mouth.
“Xingyao, welcome back,” Yi Shiyue murmured softly, using her legs to nudge her body upward until she could comfortably rest her head on the other’s arm.
“Yeah.”
“Xingyao, I won’t lose you again.”
Her violet eyes were filled with determination. Yi Shiyue spoke seriously as she looked at the familiar yet strange girl’s face; this was both a promise and a demand she placed upon herself.
“…Okay,” Ye Xingyao responded.
Another brief period passed, and the girls snuggled together, enjoying the current peace and the comfort of drifting back to sleep in each other’s arms.
