“Senior brother….”
Gantang felt the warm, clumsy stroking on the top of her head. The warmth in her heart had not yet faded, but she found herself caught between laughter and tears by this overly childish way of comforting her.
She gave a helpless smile, her eyes twitching slightly, and could not help but speak up.
“I have already grown up. I do not need this kind of comfort anymore….” Her tone carried a hint of bashfulness and amusement.
“All right then.” Lu Qiancha’s blue eyes flickered with a small sense of loss from being “rejected,” but she still nodded obediently.
She jumped nimbly off the chair, not forgetting to use a handkerchief to wipe the seat where her small shoes had just stepped.
Ling Wanbai, who had watched the entire process from the side, had grey eyes as calm as still water.
She seemed to have gained some inspiration from Gantang’s earlier gesture of reaching out. Mimicking Gantang, she silently extended her fair palm toward Lu Qiancha.
Lu Qiancha’s gaze was immediately drawn to the hand reaching out in front of her. She blinked her large eyes and, without any hesitation, grabbed a sugar cake from the food box with her small hand and slapped it generously into Ling Wanbai’s palm.
“Trash fish priestess,” Lu Qiancha said, seizing the opportunity to tilt her small chin up with a touch of smug, minor mockery. “If you want to eat sugar cake, just take it yourself. Why wait for me to pass it to you? Do you not have hands?”
Ling Wanbai did not respond. She merely lowered her head expressionlessly, looking at the golden sugar cake in her palm.
Silently, she finished the sugar cake in small, extremely refined bites. Afterward, she carefully wiped her fingertips with a handkerchief.
Then, under Lu Qiancha’s slightly confused gaze, she stepped forward and stood directly in front of Lu Qiancha.
“Hmm?” Lu Qiancha tilted her head. Thinking she wanted more, she moved her body aside to reveal the food box behind her. “Do you want more? Here, take it yourself.”
Before she could finish her sentence —
“Wooo — wha (what) are yoo (you) doing!”
Ling Wanbai suddenly struck without warning. Two cool little hands attacked Lu Qiancha’s pink, chubby cheeks like lightning, mercilessly kneading, flattening, and stretching them.
The movements were fast, accurate, and ruthless, instantly molding the delicate face of the little wolf cub into various comical shapes.
“Revenge.” Ling Wanbai’s voice remained as calm as ever. She dropped those two words briefly and, under Lu Qiancha’s huffy eyes filled with “grievance and accusation,” she turned around to walk away coolly. To leave after the deed was done.
“Gu-woo —!” Lu Qiancha clutched her small face, which was hot and numb from being rubbed, and let out a sound of grievance and anger.
She had not even provoked Ling Wanbai. It was clear the girl just wanted to bully her and found an excuse about revenge. This wicked priestess was simply rotten to the core.
The raging fire of vengeance in Lu Qiancha’s heart was instantly ignited.
Exploding with anger, Lu Qiancha was like a provoked little leopard. She sprang off the chair with a *swoosh*. At the moment Ling Wanbai turned her head with a hint of confusion, she had already used the momentum to pounce.
The force of Lu Qiancha’s pounce was not small, and combined with her swift momentum, Ling Wanbai was predictably knocked to the ground.
Immediately after, Lu Qiancha displayed her “ferocity” as a member of the Wolf Tribe.
Her target was extremely precise — she buried her small head and, facing the pair of equally fluffy small ears on top of Ling Wanbai’s head that were trembling slightly from surprise, she took one into her mouth with an “Awoo.”
“Hmm?” Ling Wanbai’s brow furrowed slightly. Her ears were one of her most sensitive areas. Currently enveloped by a warm, moist mouth and feeling the hot breath exhaled by the other, she felt a strange, tingling numbness that carried a bit of an itch.
‘Is Xiao Qiancha trying to groom me?’
That thought had just flashed through Ling Wanbai’s mind.
***
In the next second, Lu Qiancha proved with her actions that she was definitely not grooming her.
She bared those small baby teeth, which lacked much deterrent force but were sharp enough, and began to grind and nibble on Ling Wanbai’s soft ear tip in a not-too-heavy, retaliatory manner.
“Mngh —!”
An indescribable stimulation mixed with tingling numbness instantly rushed from her sensitive ear tip straight to her brain. Ling Wanbai could not control herself and let out a short, adorable cry of distress.
She instinctively wanted to reach out and push the “little evil wolf” off her, but the bursts of strange electrical sensations made her whole body go soft, leaving her arms without strength.
Ling Wanbai pursed her lips slightly, a flash of dangerous light appearing deep in her grey eyes. Her experience of repeatedly holding the upper hand gave her a thorough understanding of this little creature’s weaknesses.
Her gaze precisely locked onto Lu Qiancha’s fair, slender neck, which was exposed and defenseless before her.
Ling Wanbai’s red lips parted slightly, and she let out a gentle, slow breath against that fragile neck —
The warm breath was like a feather brushing against the most sensitive skin.
“Ying-woo!” Lu Qiancha’s whole body shuddered violently as if struck by electricity.
From her neck to her spine, she tightened up instantly. Her small mouth subconsciously let go of the ravaged ear tip, and she let out a whimper of both shock and shame.
Now was the time.
A sharp light flashed in Ling Wanbai’s eyes. Taking advantage of this moment of laxity, she exerted strength from her waist and instantly turned the tide of the battle.
With a neat flip, she pinned Lu Qiancha, whose whole body was still soft from that warm breath, back onto the ground.
It was time to make this little one remember who the elder sister was.
Ling Wanbai wordlessly declared her “sovereignty” with an expressionless face, her grey eyes locking onto the little wolf cub beneath her, preparing to “educate” her properly.
“Stop! Stop it! You two, stop fighting —!”
Gantang, who had been dumbfounded by the entire process, saw her own senior brother about to fall into a disadvantageous position and be “sanctioned” in the blink of an eye.
Finally unable to contain herself any longer, she shouted anxiously while rushing forward in a panic, trying to pull the two tangled figures apart.
Fortunately, both of these little creatures were light. Gantang grabbed one in each hand, precisely clutching their back collars like picking up two kittens with bristling fur. She lifted them up with ease and placed them separately on two sides.
“Gu-woo —!”
As soon as she touched the ground, Lu Qiancha let out a threatening low growl.
She immediately turned to Gantang, pouting her small mouth and pointing a small finger directly at Ling Wanbai in accusation. “Junior sister! She bullied me! Look, she rubbed my face until it turned red!”
As she spoke, Lu Qiancha tried hard to show off her slightly reddened little face.
Ling Wanbai remained as quiet as before. She only lifted her gaze expressionlessly, her grey eyes staring fixedly at Gantang, who stood in the middle. Two words floated through her mind without a ripple: ‘In the way.’
“Ahem! Ahem!” Seeing this, Gantang immediately stiffened her small face and cleared her throat, using all her strength to let out two coughs that commanded attention. She successfully drew the “battle-ready” gazes of the two little ones onto herself.
She straightened her back and tried to make herself appear more majestic. Her gaze swept between the grey ball of fur and the blue ball of fur.
She issued instructions in a tone that pretended to be sophisticated. “Alright! That is enough! You two —”
Finally, she put her small hands on her hips, and her gaze landed on their dust-covered, slightly messy clothes as she made the final decision.
“Now, immediately, go change into clean clothes. Then take a good bath. Look at yourselves; it is as if you were just dug out of the soil, covered in dust.”
She first pointed at the huffy Lu Qiancha. “Senior brother, calm down.”
Then she pointed at the expressionless Ling Wanbai. “And you, little one, also calm down.”
