The Elf’s face gradually flushed.
However, the current situation only made her feel strange because the being in front of her wasn’t human!
It was a skeleton with eerie green Soulfire burning in its eyes!
If she had been seen by ordinary Undead, she naturally wouldn’t have any particular thoughts.
They were just a group of pathetic creatures without intelligence, existing solely on instinct.
But the skeleton before her was clearly different.
He had intelligence! He could communicate! He could even use Holy Power!
A natural distaste for the Undead, gratitude for her savior, and the shame of being seen… a mix of various complicated emotions left the Elf’s head spinning, unsure of how to react.
Consequently, the young girl’s expression changed repeatedly within just a few seconds, turning from red to white like a chameleon.
Lance had a giant question mark in his mind.
In truth, Lance’s heart was as still as water.
‘I’m just a skeleton. What kind of reaction could I even have? It’s a pointless thought.’
A pointless thought… Thinking of this, a wave of profound sadness washed over him. Lance had been a human for nearly 40 years, yet he had never used that thing even once. Now, it had vanished entirely…
With a heavy sigh, Lance didn’t hesitate despite the scenery before him.
He immediately raised his hand, preparing to untie the green cloak draped over his body to cover the Elf.
In the Elf’s eyes, however, the skeleton started waving its bony arms about, making indecipherable movements.
“What… what do you want to do?!”
The young girl cried out in alarm. Her eyes were filled with panic and helplessness, not knowing what the skeleton intended.
Lance felt it was strange. What else would he be doing by untying his cloak? And what was with that interrogative tone? Was this how she treated her savior?
He immediately retorted, “Isn’t it obvious?”
However, performing such delicate work with skeletal palms was truly difficult.
Seeing that he couldn’t untie it, Lance simply snapped the knot with force and tossed the cloak to the Elf girl, who was crouching and covering her chest.
The cloak drifted through the air and, miraculously, unfolded completely, spreading flat across the ground.
The girl froze. A deep crimson instantly spread from the tips of her ears to her cheeks.
Her eyes widened as she stared at Lance, stammering incoherently.
“You… you perverted skeleton! I could never lie on that!”
“Don’t even think about it!”
“Huh?” Lance asked.
No, little girl, what on earth are you talking about?
Lance scratched the top of his skull and tilted his head in extreme confusion.
‘What is inside the heads of modern Elves? Filth?’
“Um… Miss Elf, this is a cloak, not a bedsheet…”
Fearing she might not understand his words, Lance pointed at the cloak and then mimed the action of putting on clothes.
‘He wants me to… put on the cloak?’
Having understood Lance’s words and his gestures, how could the Elf not realize she had misunderstood?
Her face turned bright red, and one could almost see white steam rising from her forehead.
She hurriedly picked up the dark green cloak to cover her upper body, her mind in a complete mess.
Right now, she didn’t want to think about anything.
She just wanted to flee the scene immediately and find a hole to hide in.
“Um…”
Seeing Lance prepare to step forward, the Elf, whose brain had stalled, hurriedly picked up her scattered weapons.
Purple magic power condensed instantly, and the iron rod transformed back into the Magic Power Greatsword in the blink of an eye.
With a downward slash, the Magic Power Greatsword carved a massive gouge into the stone floor, startling Lance and making him stop in his tracks.
“I… I’ve already remembered your perverted skeleton face!” she yelled. “Just… just you wait! I will definitely repay the debt of you saving my life!”
The young girl then swiped her slender finger through the air. A Spatial Rift appeared beside her hand.
She reached in and pulled out a necklace embedded with a lush green gem, throwing it violently toward Lance.
“Just you wait! You pervert! I will absolutely pay you back!”
After leaving those harsh words, the blushing Elf fled in a panic.
Like a flash of golden light, she disappeared from the hall in an instant, not even having the time to retrieve the core of the Poison Flame Dragon.
The thrown gem necklace passed through Lance’s ribcage, hit his spine, and then fell to the ground.
“Wait… I didn’t… do anything…”
This was truly a disaster out of nowhere!
“Elves these days are so rude!”
She even threw something at him. This was too much!
He reached down to pick up the green gem necklace.
The moment his finger bones touched the gem, a vast wave of life energy washed over him.
The Soulfire in his eye sockets expanded abruptly, and a sensation of pure comfort surged through every bone in his body.
Lance was shocked. This was actually a Life Gem that stored a massive amount of Life Essence!
To the Undead, this gem was like a massive experience pack.
If he could absorb it all, Lance would likely increase by more than 10 levels.
Perhaps it could even take him directly from the middle tier back to the high tier!
He quickly tucked the gem necklace into his Adventurer’s Bag and nervously scanned his surroundings.
On one hand, he was worried that this surging Life Essence would attract nearby Undead.
On the other hand, he was worried the Elf might hear what he said.
“I’m sorry, I misunderstood you, Miss Elf. You are the most polite Elf ever!”
If she wanted to throw Life Gems at him, he wouldn’t mind at all. He’d be happy even if she pelted him to death with them!
After waiting a while longer and seeing no movement, Lance finally relaxed.
He turned back to look at the massive corpse of the Poison Flame Dragon in the hall, as well as the armor and bones of the forty or fifty Armored Skeletons.
Lance fell into silence…
These were all valuable magical materials… Did she still want them?
It would be such a waste to leave them here.
‘Should I… keep them safe for her first?’
