Time slipped by, minute by minute. Just as Ailaira was beginning to grow tired of the sappy, ambiguous atmosphere, Andrea managed to regain control of her emotions.
The girl’s small hand patted the wet stain on Ailaira’s back as she covered her embarrassment with a silly giggle. “You actually have a considerate side, don’t you?”
Ailaira used Magic to dry her clothes instantly while smoothing out Andrea’s messy attire, which had become disheveled during her crying fit.
“It’s only because I still need you to gather information for me,” she replied calmly.
“If you mess this up, you can lie down on my experimental table and experience my tenderness firsthand.”
Recalling the various strange tools on Ailaira’s experimental table, Andrea shuddered. ‘Would my parts still be original after I got off that thing?’
Ailaira checked the time, observed Andrea’s state, and asked, “Are you recovered?”
“Your interruption made me forget I was even angry.”
Andrea regained her usual stubborn demeanor and spat disdainfully, “I just feel like all those years of living in fear weren’t worth it. No one ever came to catch me! What was I even hiding for? If I’d known, I would have become an Adventurer and traveled the world.”
“Hah. With your strength and brains, you’d be an Adventurer? Did you think the Magical Beasts weren’t eating well enough and wanted to offer yourself as an extra meal?”
“I’m going to hit you!”
Andrea pushed Ailaira out of the room and slammed the door shut with her tail. After venting the bitterness and resentment accumulated over the years, Andrea’s mood had improved significantly.
At the very least, she no longer took those worries to heart. She followed behind Ailaira, walking through the Hallway toward the dining room of the chapel. Curious, she asked:
“Is it really useful to lie to that Princess like that?”
Ailaira flipped through her Magic Notebook as she walked.
The book automatically displayed every movement within the chapel, including the encrypted communications between the members of the Visiting Delegation and their respective races.
Everything was being recorded by the Scrying Ritual Magic Ailaira had previously etched into the building’s structure.
While extracting useful intelligence from the massive influx of information, Ailaira casually satisfied Andrea’s curiosity.
“No matter how foolish she is, she won’t believe us completely after the first contact. We just need to establish an initial impression of potential cooperation, and then we can slowly gain her trust later.”
“The point is, I’m very curious about what goal the Dragonkind is trying to achieve with so much effort.”
Andrea had been ruled out; at the very least, the Dragonkind wasn’t here to capture her. So, what else could there be within the territory of Humanity that could attract a group of old Dragons who had been in seclusion for so long?
“If you ask me, bad woman, your heart is just too black. That’s why you think everyone is as insidious as you are.”
Andrea puffed out her chest. She wasn’t crying now and even brought up her status as a Dragon again.
“In my opinion, the Dragonkind are just a bunch of muscle-brains. What if they just came here for sightseeing and decided to cause a little trouble while they’re at it?”
“They could smash a few houses, steal some treasure, and then pat their butts and go back to Dragon Valley. It’s not like you humans would actually dare to storm Dragon Valley anyway.”
Hearing this, Ailaira turned a page in her notebook and began writing to herself with a pen. ‘Conclusion to be verified: Dragonkind’s intelligence is generally low. Subjects: Andrea, Kuchierkan.’
“Hey! Don’t call me stupid in a roundabout way!”
Ailaira quickened her pace as if she felt that breathing the same air as Andrea would lower her own level of thinking. Andrea chased after her indignantly, persistently asking, “Where am I wrong?”
“First, the issue of strength. If they really wanted to challenge the Human Kingdom so bluntly as you suggested, they wouldn’t have sent Kuchierkan. Her strength is at a stage where she has the ability to protect herself but won’t make people too wary.”
“Even if she has some secret protector or some method to temporarily boost her power, as long as she cannot cross the threshold of the Ninth Tier, she won’t be able to cause much of a stir. Not just against me, but even if they allowed them to enter the Royal Capital according to the schedule.”
Ailaira stood before the dining room doors and whispered in a voice only Andrea could hear, “Therefore, their actions are definitely not on the surface.
If we think deeper, even Kuchierkan’s bellicose and manic personality might be a fabrication. Finding out the truth behind all this is your mission.”
“If you succeed, your debt will be reduced by about one-fifth.”
At the mention of a concrete Reward, a greedy light immediately flickered in Andrea’s eyes.
She rubbed her cheeks, adjusted her posture, and slowly straightened her back. She adopted a composed and imposing persona before pushing the doors open and stepping inside.
She immediately saw Kuchierkan sitting at the dining table, gorging herself.
The Dragon didn’t even bother using a knife and fork, instead grabbing grilled steaks with her hands and stuffing them into her mouth. Jody stood beside her, skillfully cleaning up the mess and handing over new dishes with an expression that suggested she was already used to this.
Kuchierkan noticed the two of them returning.
With her exceptionally sharp sense of smell, she immediately detected a lot of that Witch’s scent on Andrea. Her smile turned mischievous.
“And here I was wondering what happened. It turns out Senior went to resolve her desires with this Witch!”
Andrea nearly slipped as she went to sit down. She quickly steadied herself and opened her mouth to argue. She didn’t have any ‘desires’ that needed Ailaira to resolve!
However, just as the words reached her lips, Andrea’s intelligence suddenly spiked.
Given the culture of the Dragonkind and their indiscriminate tastes, this explanation actually made them look more authentic. Thus, Andrea could only blush and admit with a slightly stiff tone:
“So… so what! You made me so angry I had to vent somehow!”
“I understand, I understand! Senior truly has good taste.”
Kuchierkan looked at Ailaira’s appearance with appreciation, suddenly feeling even hungrier. That single look made Andrea feel incredibly displeased. She curled her lip and waved Ailaira over, pointing at a whole steak and ordering:
“Cut it and feed me.”
Jody, standing to the side, was shocked. she looked at Andrea back and forth in disbelief, then hurriedly pushed the dining cart out of the room. She was afraid that if she stayed any longer, Dragon Blood might splash on her.
Ailaira, however, didn’t show the slightest hint of an attitude unbecoming of a servant.
She gracefully pulled out a napkin, tucked it into Andrea’s collar, and then began Cutting the steak into small, bite-sized pieces. She brought a piece to Andrea’s lips, her tone filled with doting and obedience:
“Master, please enjoy your meal.”
The corners of Andrea’s mouth were almost impossible to keep down. As she chewed the meat, she satisfiedly stroked Ailaira’s hair, suppressing a laugh as she said, “Not bad, not bad. Very obedient.”
Standing nearby, Kuchierkan looked on with so much envy she was practically drooling. She wanted a subordinate who could warm the bed and feed her, too!
