In the kingdom of the Saints, inside a cathedral of the Holy Church.
Countless candles emitted a holy radiance, surrounding a pure white statue on a high platform in the center.
“She’s dead! It’s all your fault!”
A nun with white feathered wings stomped her foot and shouted at the person beside her.
“It’s all because of you! You insisted that my child go to the Demon Kingdom to investigate. I can’t sense her anymore. She must have been killed by the demons!”
“Do not discuss such topics in the cathedral,” another Saintess wearing platinum clerical robes said sternly.
“Do you know how hard it was for me to raise a child? Waaaah…” The nun pulled out a small handkerchief and wiped her eyes.
Watching the nun cry so piteously, the Saintess folded her hands in prayer and sighed. “I understand how you feel, but sending her to the Demon Kingdom was a mission from the Lord Bishop.”
“The thing the Lord Bishop has been searching for finally showed a reaction not long ago.”
“If the source of that reaction hadn’t been deep underground in the Demon Kingdom, we wouldn’t have had to deploy your child at all.”
“Besides…” The Saintess arched an eyebrow. “Is it not true that you have many children? Last week in the corridor, I heard quite a few voices calling out ‘Mama, Mama.'”
The nun’s face turned red. She wrapped her wings around herself and twisted her handkerchief with both hands. “Th-those were fledglings that just hatched! Mind your own business!”
“So, what do we do now?”
The Saintess turned her gaze toward the door. “I have already invited an experienced demon-hunting squad from the Holy Church. They will be here shortly.”
*Creak — *
The cathedral doors were pushed open, and three figures dressed in combat gear walked in.
Leading them was a wolf-kin girl. she had sleek, wine-red short hair and walked with a light step, the white-furred wolf ears atop her head swaying gently with every stride.
“Yo! I heard there’s a job for us?” The wolf-kin girl walked up to the platform and placed her hands on her hips.
“Captain Hati, may the gods guide your path.” The Saintess pulled out a scrap of paper and handed it to her. “An important item belonging to the Lord Bishop has fallen into the hands of the demons. This is the clue we intercepted.”
On the scrap of paper, a single demonic character was clearly written: “Yes.”
“That demon wouldn’t say anything until the moment he died. We can only rely on you to investigate.”
Hati, the wolf-kin girl, took the paper, brought it to her nose to sniff, and then grinned. “The scent of a vampire.”
She crumpled the paper in her palm and confidently rubbed the space beneath her nose.
“Don’t worry. My claws have a special way of dealing with vampires.”
“Your goal is not just to deal with the vampires, but to bring back the Lord Bishop’s item.” The Saintess spoke slowly. “Remember, the Lord Bishop indicated that the item is a key.”
“If someone is in possession of that key, bring that person back as well.”
“Got it!” Hati agreed readily and stretched her arms. “I haven’t hunted a vampire in ages. Heehee.”

Meanwhile, in the Drago Manor, Sephiina felt a sudden chill in her bedroom.
‘Why does it feel so cold today?’ Sephiina wrapped her arms around herself.
After sitting on the bed for a while, she stood up, pushed open her door, and walked toward her personal maid’s room.
“Mistress?”
Lin Shu had just stepped one leg into her covers. seeing Sephiina enter suddenly, she froze.
“What’s wrong? Is there something you need help with?”
Looking at Sephiina, Lin Shu couldn’t help but think of the scene in the carriage not long ago when her blood had been sucked. The tips of her ears felt a bit hot.
“Little cutie, come sleep with me tonight.”
“Huh?”
Lin Shu’s eyes widened. “Th-that wouldn’t be appropriate, would it? If the Head of the House found out…”
If a personal maid slept in the same bed as her mistress and the Head of the House found out, she would definitely be kicked out.
“Auntie won’t come to my room. No one will know.”
As she spoke, Sephiina tilted her head. “Or does my little cutie prefer it if I use force?”
“No!” Lin Shu hurriedly denied.
“Then come and sleep with me. I’ll just hold you. I won’t do anything else.” Sephiina smiled, a mischievous glint flashing in her eyes.
‘What else could you possibly do?!’
Lin Shu couldn’t win against Sephiina and had no choice but to quietly follow her back to her bedroom.
The curtains were tightly drawn, and only a single small candle lamp cast a weak glow.
Sephiina led Lin Shu to the bedside. Looking back, she saw that beneath Lin Shu’s thin nightgown, the key was still tied around her neck.
Her gaze darkened as she remembered she hadn’t yet explained the matter of the key to Lin Shu.
She had to give a reasonable explanation to make her feel at ease staying by her side.
“Little cutie, I received a reply from my informant.” Sephiina toyed with the thin string. “Regarding the pattern on this key, it actually represents a blessing from the gods of the Saints. It symbolizes divine favor.”
“Favor?” Lin Shu looked down at the key at the end of the string.
‘Does the system mean that it gave me a prop with a divine blessing to take me to the Saints so I can return to my original world?’
‘Is that how it is…?’
However, those things weren’t important to her anymore. She had found a place where she belonged.
She preferred to continue staying by Sephiina’s side and help manage the Drago family.
Lin Shu gave up on further speculation. She smiled at Sephiina. “Yes, I understand.”
Sephiina’s eyes lit up, and she opened her arms to hug Lin Shu. “Then let’s sleep together!”
*Thud*
The two of them fell onto the soft, large bed in a tangled embrace.
“Wait a minute, woah — ” Before Lin Shu could finish her sentence, Sephiina pulled the blanket up, covering both their heads.
In an instant, the two of them were shrouded in the narrow space under the covers.
The blanket blocked out the external light, leaving the small space pitch black.
Once her eyes adjusted to the darkness, what entered Lin Shu’s vision were the peaks threatening to spill from the other woman’s nightgown neckline.
She happened to be lying on her side right in front of Sephiina’s chest. Her line of sight was aimed directly at a pair of curves that remained proud even after being squeezed against the bed.
“What are you looking at, little cutie?” Sephiina’s voice came from above.
“…Nothing.”
Lin Shu tried to move back, but Sephiina beat her to it, gently pressing her hand against the back of Lin Shu’s head and pulling her face into her bosom.
“If you like them, you can, you know.”
The softness and the warmth of skin, along with Sephiina’s fragrance, overwhelmed her.
She hurriedly broke free from that gentle nest. “Don’t be so casual, Mistress.”
“I’m not this casual with just anyone,” Sephiina gazed at her, her voice low.
Lin Shu’s heart skipped a beat.
She knew how Sephiina felt, but there were still a few questions hidden in the depths of her heart.
Sephiina adjusted her sleeping position and draped an arm over Lin Shu’s neck, resting her chin among her hair. “Goodnight, little cutie.”
Lin Shu’s racing heart began to settle. The warmth under the covers allowed sleepiness to wash over her brain.
‘Maybe it’s not so bad to indulge like this for a while?’
Lin Shu nestled in Sephiina’s arms and gradually relaxed her body. She muttered to herself, “Why does Mistress… like me?”
“Hmm?” Sephiina’s closed eyes twitched slightly as she heard Lin Shu’s words.
Her lips parted, and her voice was extremely faint. “…It’s because… before…”
Perhaps because she was holding Lin Shu, Sephiina fell asleep very quickly. That unfinished answer disappeared into the sound of steady breathing.
‘Before…?’
Lin Shu memorized that vague answer.
Perhaps in the future, she would know the truth.
