Xu Yinsheng stood in front of the full-length mirror, carefully examining herself.
The girl in the mirror didn’t look very old, probably around twenty-four or twenty-five, yet she exuded a mature sensuality befitting her age. She wore a black, sexy leather jacket that boldly exposed her navel, with a pair of black shorts underneath, accentuating her long, slender, and powerful legs.
On her feet was an ordinary pair of black high-heeled boots, making her youthful figure appear a bit taller.
Her looks were striking as well. Her moist, large eyes were like deep pools of water, and her nose and lips were both delicate. Her figure matched her age; though her chest and hips weren’t particularly large, their curves could still attract quite a few men.
But the most eye-catching thing was the Tattoo on her body. It stretched from her neck and chest all the way down to her waist and navel, crisscrossing over much of her body. Even though most of it was hidden under her leather jacket, one could still vaguely see the peculiar pattern on her lower abdomen, carrying an indescribable aesthetic.
“Why do I feel like some gangster girl?” Xu Yinsheng muttered to herself, rubbing the Tattoo on her shoulder.
Her fingertip traced along the Tattoo, moving downward, until it reached her navel. Her gaze followed along, finally stopping there.
On her fair lower abdomen, right in the middle, was a Heart Tattoo in peach-red, surrounded by a series of enchanting lines, like symmetrical branches, as if signifying something.
The tip of the heart was sealed at the bottom, extending slightly below her lower belly, pointing directly at her **. Just a glance at it radiated an intense sexual innuendo.
Xu Yinsheng’s eyes paused, then she started cursing.
“Damn it, just now I looked like some gangster girl, how did I suddenly turn into a hentai heroine’s *tattoo?” She immediately took off her leather jacket, cursing all the while, and grabbed a long-sleeved shirt from the bed to cover herself up, hiding the peach-colored Tattoo on her lower abdomen.
After changing into proper clothes, she picked up the black notebook from her nightstand, grasped her pen, and was about to extract information belonging to this character’s form from her future self.
“Xiao Yin, the chicken soup’s ready.”
Suddenly, Zhao Yicheng’s voice came from outside the door. Xu Yinsheng put down the pen and replied, “Coming!”
The dining table she’d gnawed to bits before had already been replaced with a marble one. Its surface felt cold and smooth, like a mirror.
Xu Yinsheng sat casually on a chair, watching Zhao Yicheng shuttle back and forth between the kitchen and living room, serving dish after dish.
She scooped up some chicken soup for herself with a spoon, drank half a bowl, and smacked her lips in satisfaction.
After being a Gem Dragon Lady for two months and gnawing on gemstones the entire time, Xu Yinsheng had longed to taste something different.
When Zhao Yicheng brought out the last dish—stir-fried pork—he saw Xu Yinsheng reaching into her undershirt, searching for something.
He had no idea what she was up to, but the Obsidian Tattoo on her neck suddenly flashed with a dark light!
A jet-black crowbar appeared out of thin air in Xu Yinsheng’s hand!
“I get it now, this is how the Ability of the Tattoo works,” Zhao Yicheng heard her murmur softly.
Then, she tossed the crowbar to the floor, clenched her hand into a fist, palm facing backward, and slowly pressed it against the Obsidian Tattoo on her neck.
The next moment, Zhao Yicheng saw her slowly pull a bandaged baseball bat from the Obsidian Tattoo!
The baseball bat hit the floor. Then came a folding chair, a watermelon machete, a hatchet, a fruit knife—a whole series of objects commonly used in gangster brawls.
Xu Yinsheng seemed to be having a blast. The Tattoo on her body was like Doraemon’s pocket—endless space, limitless treasures.
In no time, a small mountain of all kinds of gang-fight paraphernalia had piled up.
Zhao Yicheng’s mouth twitched as he watched.
All this stuff was enough for a small-scale brawl.
“All right, enough playing. Let’s eat first,” he walked over, giving Xu Yinsheng a light tap on the head to pull her out of her game.
Xu Yinsheng turned to look at the mound of weapons, clicking her tongue in astonishment. It seemed this form’s ability was a walking arsenal, capable of equipping an entire gang by herself!
Ignoring the mountain of controlled knives beside her, the two sat down to lunch.
Zhao Yicheng picked up a piece of stir-fried pork and placed it in Xu Yinsheng’s bowl, his tone gentle: “I have to go back to the company tomorrow.”
The gangster girl, head buried in her food, looked up, “What’s going on?”
“There’s a problem with the Mainland.”
Zhao Yicheng picked up a green pepper, slowly chewing as he spoke:
“The owner of the Mainland is an elderly man with no family—parents gone, no children. But just as we were about to sign the contract, a ‘son’ suddenly appeared, holding a paternity test, and kicked my people out.”
“An illegitimate child? Some trouble from wild days?” Xu Yinsheng’s mind spun out several possible storylines.
But Zhao Yicheng shook his head.
“Later investigation showed that the so-called ‘son’ is actually from the Feiche Gang, and the paternity test was forged.”
He calmly served himself a bowl of clear soup, sipped it, and went on, “So Li Yuan had that underage faker who produced the paternity test sent to the Orphanage.”
“What does this have to do with the Mainland?” Xu Yinsheng cut in.
“That’s where it gets interesting.”
Zhao Yicheng continued, “I thought the business battle would end there, but somehow Liu Jianqian offered something, roped in a group of Archaeology Enthusiasts, and claimed there were precious fossils buried underground. They keep blocking the demolition crew, which has dragged the project out until now.”
“I’m going to the construction site tomorrow to talk with them.”
“Wait a sec, I need to use the restroom.” Xu Yinsheng suddenly clutched her belly and dashed to the bathroom. A few minutes later, she came out again, returned to the table, picked up a piece of stir-fried pork and stuffed it into her mouth, mumbling,
“What were we talking about? Oh, the Mainland.”
Xu Yinsheng grabbed another slice of marbled pork, eating heartily as she went on, “I know what you’re getting at, and I know you don’t want to leave me at home alone.”
“I was thinking of giving you a hard time, but after lying around at home for two months, I’m bored anyway. Might as well get out and stretch my legs.”
Zhao Yicheng nodded.
He got up and added some more rice to her bowl, patting the gangster girl’s head in passing.
“Thanks, eat up.”
After lunch, Zhao Yicheng cleaned up the dishes, and for once Xu Yinsheng was diligent enough to help him clear the table, carrying plates into the kitchen.
Watching her busy back, the man couldn’t help but smile. This kind of life felt wonderful.
Sunlight poured through the window, casting two long, deep shadows in the kitchen, as if the pair, back-to-back and brushing past each other, were also in an embrace—each the only one for the other.
Restroom.
If someone were to rummage through the trash can right now, they would find several scraps of paper shredded into tiny pieces, with traces of blurry Blood-Red Script still clinging to them.
If someone patiently pieced them back together, a single line of scarlet words would emerge.
The time of the promise has arrived.
