February 2nd, Dragon Raises Its Head.
Late at night, moonlight spilled over the smooth cobblestone path, casting dappled shadows of the trees, along with two figures—one large, one small.
“Wait for me.”
Xu Yinsheng called out, desperately moving her little short legs, chasing after him with all her might.
Zhao Yicheng acted as if he didn’t hear, paying her no mind, just quietly walking forward by himself.
Xu Yinsheng stamped her feet anxiously but didn’t dare to stop, her small body mustering all its strength, racing to catch up.
No one knew why, but after the movie, Zhao Yicheng hadn’t gone home. Instead, he brought Xu Yinsheng for a walk in the city’s central park.
Finally, he stopped in front of the Artificial Lake in the park.
Xu Yinsheng hurried to catch up, panting for breath before looking up at him. She saw Zhao Yicheng lowering his head slightly, one hand resting on the railing, the other tucked in his pocket, his expression calm.
“Just now, I’m sorry.” Xu Yinsheng stepped forward, standing by Zhao Yicheng’s side, apologizing in a soft voice.
“I shouldn’t have said that to you. Next time, I’ll find out what really happened first. I won’t judge without knowing the truth like I did just now.”
Zhao Yicheng said nothing. He simply bent down, picked up a cobblestone from the ground, and tossed it into the Artificial Lake, sending out ripples.
Just as Xu Yinsheng was about to apologize again, she suddenly heard Zhao Yicheng beside her say, “It’s nothing. After all, someone like me doesn’t deserve to ask for love.”
He gave a self-mocking smile, looking rather desolate.
“I-I didn’t mean that…” Xu Yinsheng explained cautiously.
Right now, Zhao Yicheng felt to her like a Volcano—a volcano that could erupt at any moment, dangerous, powerful, and utterly unpredictable.
“Then what did you mean?”
“Do you pity me? Sympathize with me? Feel sorry for me? Or is it because I’m strong that you’re forced to submit to me?” One pebble after another was thrown by the agitated man into the calm lake, creating wave after wave of ripples.
Xu Yinsheng was left speechless by his barrage.
She hadn’t expected it. She just wanted to apologize, but Zhao Yicheng turned into a nitpicker, throwing out all these chaotic thoughts.
“What’s wrong? Did I hit the mark?” Xu Yinsheng’s silence seemed to confirm Zhao Yicheng’s words. He let out a cold laugh: “From start to finish, you’ve always pitied me, sympathized with me, felt sorry for me, surrendered to my strength—but you’ve never truly liked me, never once loved me, not even a little.”
“What nonsense are you talking about?” Xu Yinsheng couldn’t help raising her voice. “Do you think everyone is as self-centered as you? That loving someone is just about venting your own desires? Not caring about anyone else’s feelings?”
“I vent my desires?”
That sentence seemed to strike Zhao Yicheng’s most sensitive nerve. His face instantly contorted with anger, his eyes glaring wide, bloodshot all over.
“I just want love. What else can I do? Can you love me? Besides this, what other way do I have?”
“If I don’t do this, you’ll just see me as a Brother! As a Best Friend!! As a Life’s Companion!!!”
Xu Yinsheng, all my life, I’ve been cleaning up your messes, picking up after you, taking care of you! Do you really not know how I feel, or are you pretending to be clueless? Just enjoying my care with a clear conscience?”
“You—you—you!!!” Xu Yinsheng pointed at the man who had lost control, almost speechless with anger.
Zhao Yicheng slapped her hand away, his gaze cold and cruel. “You say love is tolerance, love is care, love is forgiveness. But have you ever loved me? Have you ever tolerated me? Have you ever cared for me? Have you ever forgiven me?” “All you’ve ever done is take my love for granted, as something to be enjoyed and squandered, never facing it directly.” “Two years. Almost two years. What have I gained? What have I gotten? All I wanted was your love!! Even just a sliver!!”
Zhao Yicheng’s voice sounded as if it had come from the depths of hell, filled with despair and fury, like a beast on the verge of going berserk, eyes bloodshot, staring fixedly at her.
Faced with his twisted logic, Xu Yinsheng was left breathless with anger, but she only shook off his hand and said nothing more.
Yet her silent attitude was precisely the fuse that ignited this human Volcano called Zhao Yicheng. He grabbed her shoulders, his grip so tight that the little dragon girl’s bones creaked. “What? Silent now, huh? In your heart, even after all these years of caring for you, under my love, am I just this filthy, shameful person to you?”
“Let go of me.” Xu Yinsheng struggled with all her strength, but she couldn’t break free.
“You—mmm…”
Xu Yinsheng was just about to say something when she suddenly felt her mouth sealed by the furious Zhao Yicheng.
All his usual gentle kissing techniques were tossed aside in this moment. Savage, bloody, violent, venting, angry, obsessive, possessive…
Every emotion poured down on her lips like a raging storm.
She tried to dodge, but he pinned her firmly against the utility pole. The more she struggled, the more fiercely he possessed her, as if he wanted to crush her, to press her into his own body.
Her lips hurt terribly—his teeth had bitten her lip.
The salty, metallic taste of blood instantly filled both their mouths. Xu Yinsheng, her little legs kicking with all her might, managed to push the man away a bit, wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth with her hand.
“Pah! Zhao Yicheng, what the hell is wrong with you!!”
Xu Yinsheng spat a mouthful of bloody saliva onto Zhao Yicheng’s face. Now, she was truly enraged by him.
“Come on, Zhao Yicheng.” Xu Yinsheng’s eyes were red as she jabbed her finger at his nose, shouting, “Go ahead, do it right here if you dare!!”
“I’m already utterly hopeless about a scumbag, hypocrite, nutcase like you!!”
“What did you say!!”
With a loud bang, his fist smashed into the utility pole, making a deep, dull thud. Cracks like a web spread over the concrete pole.
His right fist was torn open and bloody, bone fragments shattered, blood dripping down the cold utility pole drop by drop.
The searing pain sobered Zhao Yicheng from his fury. He looked at Xu Yinsheng’s bloodshot eyes before glancing down at his own mangled right hand.
The cold night wind blew against him, chilling him to the bone.
“I—I—I…” Zhao Yicheng stared at his hands in disbelief. He wanted to say something, to explain, but facing Xu Yinsheng’s blazing eyes, any apology or regret felt pale and powerless.
His right arm hung limply, blood dripping to the ground.
His figure seemed to stoop a little.
Zhao Yicheng took several deep breaths, the icy air flooding his lungs. The bellows-like sound of his breathing was especially harsh in the silent night.
He turned around and slowly left the park.
“I’ll take you home.”
