After lunch, Lu Yunze had originally intended to return to his room to rest, but before he could get up, Bo Heng dragged him off.
“You all haven’t come back for half a year, so it’s the perfect time for you to see what’s changed around the house during this period.”
“Second Brother, aren’t you just back yourself? Why are you suddenly acting like a tour guide?” Luo Yao immediately couldn’t help but quip.
As if he had expected this, Bo Heng flicked his fingers and laughed, “Actually, I’ve come back several times in the past six months. Some matters at home, I helped take care of them while Father wasn’t here.”
“Is that true or are you faking it? That lazy, good-for-nothing Second Brother actually started managing the house? Am I hallucinating?”
“What do you mean by lazy, good-for-nothing? My dear sister, is that really the only impression you have of me?” Bo Heng’s expression became rather helpless.
No, in fact, it was even more complicated. When Bo Chen talked about his siblings back in the Lan Cheng courtyard, he would occasionally mention his views on his older brothers and sisters. When he was little, he listened to them all the same, but as he got older, his opinion of them inevitably changed.
Her views were more or less the same as Lu Yunze’s.
The eldest, Bo Li, was the most serious among all the brothers. He was always busy outside and, even when they did meet, it was just a quick greeting or some stern topic—he was so strict that people didn’t want to get close to him.
The eldest sister, Bo Yao, had a gentle but shrewd character, yet was often sickly. It was perfectly normal for her to be away from home for months after going out.
The second sister, Light Jade, the Luo Qian standing before them now, was the most unconventional among them all. Because of her appearance and behavior, people always thought she was lazy and undisciplined and that she must have a lot of lovers outside.
Luo Li only omitted the part about her having a lot of lovers and left the “lazy, good-for-nothing” comment—already the greatest kindness he could offer his own Second Brother.
But rumors were still just rumors, and without seeing it with one’s own eyes, Lu Yunze could never be sure if Bo Heng really kept lovers outside.
Anyway, there was nothing to do after the meal, so he agreed to Bo Heng’s request and followed him to look around the house.
Just as he said, there were indeed some changes after half a year—not major ones, mostly some small decorative details. The most noticeable thing was on the passage close to the west wing.
“This is the masterpiece I want to show you all!”
Bo Heng stood in front, proudly gesturing to something behind him.
Lu Yunze and the others all looked up in surprise. They remembered this passage used to be much simpler, but now there was a long mural covering the wall.
The mural covered two-thirds of the wall and its content was very intricate. At first glance, it was exquisite, but a closer look left one’s eyes dazzled and mind reeling.
“Second Brother, did you paint this?” Bo Li asked, narrowing his eyes.
“Of course… I paid someone to do it.” Bo Heng replied.
“Don’t underestimate this mural! It cost me a fortune. Give it a dozen years or so and I guarantee its value will go up severalfold!”
“You seem pretty confident. Does Father agree with you?”
“He does… of course.”
“You didn’t just decide this all by yourself without telling Father, did you?”
“Ah… well, sort of.”
While the siblings were laughing and teasing, Lu Yunze turned back to glance at the servants standing quietly behind Bo Heng—including Jiang Sui.
She had her lips slightly parted, carefully studying the mural.
Could it be that she liked murals? Or maybe she had a keen sense for art…
“Would peeling off a piece fetch a good price too?”
Well then, Lu Yunze had to admit he was being overly sensitive.
Apart from the mural in the corridor, Bo Heng had a second achievement to show them. Because, after graduation, with the support of his father as the family head, the master of the Light Jade Family had invested in a huge surprise for him.
Led by Bo Heng, everyone descended a staircase to the basement. When the door opened, inside was a fully-equipped Secret Workshop.
“Father knows exactly what I like! This was his birthday present for me!”
This place looked just like a modern laboratory, but what it studied was all related to the arcane. The people in white coats inside were not doctors or scientists, but Researchers.
“Arcane research, huh? Have you actually produced anything?” Lu Yunze couldn’t help asking.
“Of course!” Bo Heng snapped his fingers, and someone brought over a test tube filled with a sticky pink liquid.
He raised the test tube to everyone’s noses to sniff. There was a strong, sweet fragrance—just a whiff made one feel invigorated and energized, with blood flowing faster.
Especially Luo Yao, who seemed to especially enjoy the scent. She held the test tube in her hand, clearly reluctant to let go.
What an intriguing scent… wait.
Lu Yunze suddenly thought of something bad and asked, “This isn’t that kind of stuff, is it?”
“Which kind?”
“Bo Heng, isn’t this illegal…”
“It’s just something to help couples be more passionate in bed.”
“……”
“Huh?!” Luo Li’s eyes widened as she quickly, blushing, handed the test tube back.
So it wasn’t that kind of thing after all. Lu Yunze was startled for nothing.
“What exactly have you been researching?” Bo Li’s tone grew harsh.
“Come on, give me a break. Bo Heng snapped his fingers again and called over a Researcher, “We believe in our own products—absolutely no problems. Drink it!”
“Yes, Young Master!”
That Researcher, in front of everyone, downed the pink potion in the test tube.
Under everyone’s watchful gaze, his face quickly turned red, almost like a tomato.
He started sweating, his breathing quickened, and he even wanted to take off his clothes.
“How do you feel?” Bo Heng still looked supremely confident.
“I feel a little hot… and somehow really uncomfortable, like I’m about to explode!”
“Huh? I don’t remember the effects being this strong…”
“I need a woman!!”
The Researcher suddenly howled, lunging toward the nearest female—Jiang Sui.
Just as he reached out his arms, a figure blocked the girl, and Lu Yunze gripped the Researcher’s head, his face dark.
“This is what you call a finished product?”
Quickly subduing the out-of-control Researcher, everyone dragged him out, watching him drool and act deranged.
“Women, I want women, any woman, young or old! I can smell so many women’s scents in the air!”
“He’s basically just gone into heat,” Luo Yao couldn’t stand to watch.
Lu Yunze silently agreed, turning to look at Jiang Sui.
“You’re not hurt, right?”
“No, thank you, Young Master, for stepping in so quickly.”
Bo Heng was still muttering to himself, convinced there couldn’t be a problem with his team’s work.
“If it really doesn’t work, then are all these potions wasted?”
“You still have so much of this stuff in storage? Destroy it all, now!” Luo Yao started criticizing him.
There was no longer any reason to stay in the Secret Workshop, so everyone bid farewell to Bo Heng.
They hurriedly left, all worried they’d get some of that weird potion on themselves.
Once back in the lounge and seated again, Luo Yao, feeling thirsty, asked the maid beside her to fetch her a drink.
Coincidentally, the one beside her was Jiang Sui.
“Yes, Miss.”
After leaving the lounge, Jiang Sui’s mind was still on the issue of the Pink Potion. Others didn’t care, but she thought it was something with potential.
If you just controlled the dosage, or refined it a bit, it wouldn’t make people lose control, and maybe at the crucial moment it could even work wonders.
Wouldn’t it be perfect to use it on Lu Yunze?
Anyway, Luo Qi asked me to fetch a drink—where’s the kitchen?
This place is huge and confusing, I really can’t find my way. Left with no choice, she decided to ask the first two people she came across.
“Excuse me, could you tell me how to get to the kitchen…”
She thought they were servants of the Luo Family, but their clothes were nothing like it—they must be guests from outside.
“Huh? Who are you?”
“Well, now this is interesting. Hey, little girl, you’re quite pretty, you know?”
Prompted by his companion, the fiercer one also sized up Jiang Sui, and his expression changed instantly.
Great, these are the kind of troublemakers you want to avoid.
Jiang Sui turned to leave, but one of them blocked her path.
“Wait, aren’t you from the Zhu Family? We were invited here for your Miss’s Banquet.”
“Yeah, that’s right! We just got lost. If you just walk away, aren’t you afraid we’ll complain and get you fired?”
Jiang Sui’s eyebrows furrowed, but she suppressed her emotions and asked, “So, what exactly do you want?”
They exchanged glances, nearly laughing aloud.
“It’s simple. Just keep us company for a while and we’ll drop it. Come on, over here…”
Just as one of them reached out toward the girl, a sharp shout interrupted them:
“Hey! What do you think you’re doing?!”
Before Jiang Sui could react, a strong arm pulled her back, shielding her behind a tall figure.
“Lu—Lu Yunze!”
“Why are you here?”
The two troublemakers paled when they saw Lu Yunze appear.
Lu Yunze still remembered them—when he was little, there were always idiots trying to pick on him, only to get a lesson in self-defense that sent them running.
These two right now were exactly those who had tasted his fists before.
“It’s been at least half a year since we last met, right? In my house, and you’re trying to harass our maid? Isn’t that a bit much?”
“That’s what we should be asking you! What’s it got to do with you if we want to have some fun? Don’t get ahead of yourself, just a dog who thinks he’s something because he belongs here.”
Lu Yunze squeezed Jiang Sui’s small hand so hard it trembled, but the next second, the soft warmth covering the back of his hand calmed him down again. Without looking, he knew Jiang Sui had quietly covered his hand with hers.
“I’ll give you three seconds. Get lost. Otherwise, I’ll show you what it means to be a Shaobao!”
The two on the other side immediately flinched.
“Fine, you’re really something…”
“Luo Yao is upstairs. We want to see Luo Yao!”
“Count yourself lucky. Let’s go!”
Finally, the troublesome dogs were gone, and Lu Yunze could finally breathe a sigh of relief as he turned to face Jiang Sui.
She already had a smile on her face.
“You came just in time, Young Master, were you worried I’d get lost?”
“Of course not. I just figured you’d have trouble finding the kitchen, so I came to remind you.”
“Well then, thank you, Young Master. Let’s go together.”
Lu Yunze had only come to give directions, but now it looked like he’d be escorting her.
Jiang Sui took the lead, but somehow, it became him following behind her.
Lu Yunze looked at their hands, still interlocked, and, unwilling to let go, allowed himself to be led along.
