The tiny Bai Yue was gripping the huge Iron Pickaxe with all her might, swinging it down onto the hard, yellow-brown Stone on the Mountain with the strength of a baby.
Dang! Dang! Dang!
At this moment, Bai Yue was in the form of a petite girl.
She wore a gray short-sleeved shirt and shorts, both stained with dirt.
Her hair was tied back into a neat ponytail for convenience while working.
Her small arms and legs looked even tinier next to the Iron Pickaxe, which was almost as tall as she was.
She swung the Iron Pickaxe again and again, her white ponytail swaying behind her, sweat and dust clinging together and making her look utterly filthy from head to toe.
Sensing Mu Chenxi’s approach, Bai Yue stopped and turned, her eyes lighting up with joy, though her voice held a trace of grievance.
“Chenxi, you finally came to see me?”
Large beads of sweat rolled down her forehead and along her cheeks, her thin chest rising and falling rapidly—she was clearly already extremely Exhausted.
Mu Chenxi hurried over and took the Iron Pickaxe from Bai Yue’s hands.
The moment she grasped it, she realized just how heavy it was.
She couldn’t imagine how the small-framed Bai Yue could swing it repeatedly.
“Master, what are you doing?”
Mu Chenxi couldn’t help but ask.
“I’m working,” Bai Yue raised her hand to point at the Mountain behind her.
“I have to move this whole Mountain.”
Mu Chenxi stared at the towering Mountain in front of her, her mouth dropping open in astonishment.
“This… How can you possibly move all of it? Do you really have to move this entire Mountain?”
“I have to.”
Bai Yue nodded, her eyes exceptionally serious.
“Just like these Stones in front of me are the Exhaustion that has built up lately. If I don’t move them, the Exhaustion will keep piling up, and the Mountain will get bigger. If that happens, I’m finished.”
To the tiny Bai Yue, moving the Mountain was only natural.
She tilted her head, gazing curiously at Mu Chenxi as if she couldn’t understand why she was asking.
When Mu Chenxi heard “moving Stones can clear away Exhaustion,” surprise flickered in her eyes.
Then she looked at the tiny Bai Yue who was up against such a huge Mountain, and her heart ached.
“Master, why don’t you rest for a while? Let me help you move it, okay?”
“It’s fine.”
Bai Yue nodded, though she had no intention of resting.
“But I’m not tired, so I don’t need a break. Let’s do it together.”
As she spoke, she scurried off to fetch another Iron Pickaxe from nearby.
The two stood side by side at the foot of the Mountain, “ding ding dang dang” striking at the solid Stones.
The Iron Pickaxe was incredibly heavy.
Every swing sent shockwaves through Mu Chenxi’s hands, making them tingle and ache, but she didn’t even notice the fragments of Stone flying onto her body.
All she thought about was lightening Master’s burden, even just a little.
But after just a short while, unable to use spiritual power, Mu Chenxi felt her arms turn to lead and could barely lift the Iron Pickaxe.
She glanced at the tiny Bai Yue beside her.
Despite her size, Bai Yue kept swinging, sweat pouring down as she hammered at the Stones—every strike breaking off more fragments.
Mu Chenxi gritted her teeth and kept going until she couldn’t move the Iron Pickaxe anymore and collapsed onto the pile of Stones, panting heavily.
Seeing this, Bai Yue quickly put down her Iron Pickaxe and hurried over, wiping sweat from her face.
She asked with concern,
“Chenxi, are you alright?”
“Master, I’m fine. Just a bit tired—I can’t swing anymore.”
“Then rest for a while. I’ll work a bit longer. We can eat together after.”
Saying that, Bai Yue used her dirty little hand to wipe the sweat from Mu Chenxi’s face.
The result was a smudged, flower-patterned mess that made the tiny Bai Yue giggle.
Bai Yue laughed as she dashed back to pick up her Iron Pickaxe.
“Dang dang dang,” she struck the Stone.
She was obviously exhausted, but she clenched her teeth and persisted, every swing breaking off more fragments.
Mu Chenxi watched from the side, her heart twisting.
This petite Master had to endure so much hardship.
Moving such a massive Mountain—she wondered how long it would take, working day and night, to clear it away.
Yet because Mu Chenxi was nearby, Bai Yue’s attention kept drifting back to her even as she worked.
She looked back now and then.
“Hehe~”
Bai Yue grinned, her dirty little face flashing a set of exceptionally white teeth.
Her small arms swung with renewed vigor.
The foolish child seemed to draw strength just from being watched by Mu Chenxi.
After about the time it takes to burn a stick of incense, Bai Yue finally set down her Iron Pickaxe.
She could wait no longer.
“Chenxi, let’s go eat together~”
Mu Chenxi quickly caught up, but noticed that Bai Yue was swaying with each step, obviously exhausted.
“Master, let me carry you?”
Mu Chenxi offered.
“Carry me? Okay~”
Bai Yue beamed.
Mu Chenxi crouched down, and Bai Yue flopped onto her back.
Her petite frame weighed almost nothing—it was easy to carry her.
Feeling the weightless Master on her back, Mu Chenxi’s heart tightened again.
Following Bai Yue’s directions, she soon arrived at an open-air stall.
Behind the stall stood a Faceless Woman in a white apron.
On the counter lay two Boxed Meals in foam containers.
“Boss Lady, I’m here to get the Boxed Meal.”
Bai Yue shouted from afar.
The Faceless Woman nodded.
“Thank you for your hard work, little Bai Yue.”
She spoke gently, and then respectfully handed over a Boxed Meal with both hands.
Bai Yue accepted it, eagerly opened it, and found inside a Chicken Leg and fragrant Rice.
She swallowed her saliva.
“Today’s Chicken Leg!”
Worried about drooling onto the food, Bai Yue hurriedly closed the Boxed Meal and handed it to Mu Chenxi.
“Chenxi, this one’s for you.”
Mu Chenxi took the foam Boxed Meal and saw Bai Yue rushing to grab the other one on the stall.
With Boxed Meals in hand, Bai Yue pulled Mu Chenxi down to squat beside the stall.
Excited, she bit open the wrapper of disposable chopsticks and picked up the Chicken Leg from the Boxed Meal.
But her hands were trembling from exhaustion, and the chopsticks wobbled.
With a plop, the Chicken Leg fell to the ground.
Bai Yue’s happy face froze, her smile vanished, and her mouth turned down, tears welling up in her eyes.
She looked as if she might burst into tears at any moment.
Seeing her like this, Mu Chenxi quickly opened her own Boxed Meal and handed it over.
“Master, it’s alright, it’s alright. I still have a Chicken Leg here. Take it.”
“But if I eat yours, what will you eat?”
Bai Yue asked softly, her eyes red.
Mu Chenxi hesitated, then bent down and picked up the Chicken Leg from the ground, now covered in dust.
“I’ll eat this one, it’s fine.”
To ease Bai Yue’s worry, she bit directly into the dirty Chicken Leg and chewed twice, the grit scraping her teeth.
Even so, Mu Chenxi forced herself to swallow and managed a smile.
“Master, it’s still edible. Still delicious.”
“Master, eat mine, quickly, or it’ll get cold.”
The tiny Bai Yue was easy to cheer up.
She flashed a goofy smile at Mu Chenxi, her attention soon returning to the Chicken Leg she was handed.
This time, to be safe, she grabbed the Chicken Leg with her little hand and took a big bite, her eyes closing in happiness.
