The Duke Ceretes’ family departed soon after.
Lias emerged from her room and leaned on the solid wooden railing of the second floor, looking toward Li Ang.
Her position was rather delicate—when Li Ang looked up from the sofa, he was directly facing Miss Succubus’s skirt from below and could see those long, slender legs of hers, drawing out a graceful arc.
Li Ang waved at her. The little cat succubus immediately scampered down the stairs.
Her fair legs shimmered in the light, a delight to behold.
“Lias…”
Li Ang softly called her name.
“What’s wrong? Are you hungry? Breakfast is ready.”
Lias tilted her head, her gaze filled with concern.
Li Ang organized his thoughts. “Just now, I received word—His Majesty has given me the task of compiling teaching materials…”
“Is that a good thing?”
Lias sat beside Li Ang, blinking her eyes.
“Mm.” Li Ang nodded. “It’s good for me, but…I might be really busy soon, and about the wedding…”
At that, the woman’s fox-like eyes clearly dimmed, a look of disappointment showing.
“Sorry…”
“It’s all right.” Lias placed her hand over Li Ang’s, speaking softly, “I’ll wait for you. It’s just a few months. I read in a book that a good Bride should understand her Husband.”
As she spoke, Lias’s eyes were filled with tenderness. “I want to be a good Bride, like in the books. Don’t worry about me, I’ll take care of everything at home.”
“Mm.”
Li Ang gently hugged her.
Although Lias was a bit down, she was determined to be a good Bride and absolutely would not let Li Ang worry!
Since she couldn’t yet bear Li Ang’s descendants, she would just have to excel in other ways.
With that in mind, she stood up and walked to the kitchen, bringing out the already-prepared breakfast.
“Did they say when you’ll be leaving?”
Lias asked as she watched Li Ang eat.
“I’ll go tomorrow. The sooner I finish, the sooner I can come back and spend time with you.”
“Okay.”
Lias’s eyes curved, her tone full of anticipation.
After quickly finishing breakfast, Li Ang naturally reached out to Lias, asking for a hug.
The little cat succubus was very obedient now. After clearing the dishes, she kicked off her shoes, lifted her ankle wrapped in white silk, knelt on Li Ang’s lap, and a faint milky scent wafted over.
Clearly, he’d just had milk, yet Li Ang found himself thirsty again.
Her warm body settled in his lap, and her fair arms gently wrapped around his head, tucking him into her embrace.
Li Ang contentedly rubbed against her soft chest, enjoying the gentle comfort—the feel of her tender skin was truly pleasant.
His once restless heart calmed instantly. He remembered how, when he first came to the royal capital, it was Lias who depended on him. Who could’ve thought, after all these years, he would develop a reliance on her as well?
Such things were always mutual.
To make up for the busy days ahead, Li Ang decided to spend a good day with Lias today—or perhaps, just to indulge his own mischievous desires.
Lias stood in front of the sofa, holding her skirt lightly in both hands, slowly lifting it up until the hem brushed just above the tops of her stockings.
“Like this?”
“Mm, and make your gaze a bit more disdainful, show me how much you dislike me.”
Li Ang looked at the succubus maid before him, excitement clear on his face.
He never imagined he’d witness a scene straight out of a comic one day.
Lias tilted her head, frowned slightly, and said in a gentle voice, “A look that dislikes Li Ang… I can’t imagine it.”
And she truly didn’t want to show that face to Li Ang, either.
“Then make your gaze a bit colder… That’s it! Perfect!”
Li Ang gave a thumbs-up.
The red-haired maid before him gazed coldly, as if coerced, lifting her skirt and exposing those well-shaped legs, the skirt hem barely revealing the forbidden zone beneath.
It was simply the most wonderful scenery in the world.
Lias truly obeyed almost every word he said. No matter what he asked, the little cat succubus would do her best to fulfill it.
Ever since she had placed her full trust in him, she’d held nothing back.
Lias lowered her skirt again. Though she didn’t understand why Li Ang was so happy to see her do such things, as long as he was happy, that was enough.
“Is there anything Lias wants to do?”
After pleasing himself, Li Ang asked the woman before him.
“Hmm… As long as I’m with Li Ang, that’s enough.”
Lias thought for a moment, then looked at the man before her.
Li Ang was helpless before her answer. He stood up and reached out his hand to her. “It’s still early. Want to go out for a stroll?”
“Okay.”
Lias didn’t refuse—or perhaps, she simply never would refuse Li Ang’s invitation.
“I’ll get your coat, it’s a bit chilly outside.”
The succubus maid dashed to fetch a thick coat from the room, draped it over Li Ang’s shoulders, then took his hand.
Li Ang held her soft, slightly chilly little hand as they walked down the street outside.
Thanks to the New Year, the city was lively, with far more people than usual crowding the streets.
More than once, they were separated by the flowing crowd. Each time Li Ang looked back, Lias still stood where she’d been, searching anxiously for him among the people.
Compared to the stream of passersby, the red-haired woman looked like a lost child, left all alone and not knowing what to do.
When Li Ang found her, he asked why she was standing still.
The little cat succubus whispered, “I was afraid you wouldn’t find me.”
Li Ang didn’t ask why she didn’t look for him herself. He just gently took her hand.
“Mm, I’ll always find you.”
Since she had given him all her trust, he ought never let her down.
Li Ang took Lias around to the shop stalls, and anything that caught Lias’s interest, he would wave his hand and buy right away.
Her eyes sparkled, but her hands instinctively pressed against his, trying to dissuade him: “Don’t buy so much… it’s too much, we need to save some money.”
Li Ang was amused by her cute behavior and pinched her cheek teasingly, “You know how to save money?”
Lias puffed her cheeks and answered righteously, “I have to become a proper good Bride!”
Li Ang laughed and agreed. After shopping, they returned to the mansion together.
Once everything was put away, Li Ang sprawled tiredly on the sofa and flipped through a book at hand.
After a while, Lias came over too, carefully curling up beside him like a little cat. Seeing he didn’t mind, she burrowed into his arms, pestering Li Ang to tell her about the book.
Li Ang chuckled, made room for her, and let her lie down more comfortably. With his right arm gently around her slim waist and his left holding the book, he read the text aloud to her.
Lias was like a clingy, gentle kitten, quietly nestled in her master’s arms. Her eyes didn’t fall on the book but stayed fixed on the man reading.
At night, as always, Lias hugged her pillow and came to Li Ang’s room, lying beside him as she did every night.
Cats, as pets, always crave companionship—because their world is very small, so small it holds only one person.
