“What’s our next class?”
Zhu Niao glanced at Gou Yu, who looked like a walking corpse beside her, then turned to Ye Qingchang, who was hurrying over from behind.
“Let me check…” Ye Qingchang casually glanced at her phone. “P.E.”
“No way, bro, it’s already time for P.E.? Doesn’t that mean the campus run is about to start?” Zhu Niao suddenly perked up and kicked Gou Yu, who was walking beside her. Gou Yu simply leaned against the nearby lamppost and closed his eyes to rest.
Well, actually, Gou Yu couldn’t really be blamed for this.
Ever since Zhu Niao started suspecting Gou Yu might have feelings for her yesterday, she’d been on guard whenever Gou Yu came to pick her up after work.
She even woke up in shock in the middle of the night when Gou Yu opened her bedroom door again.
While she was guessing what Gou Yu was about to do to her, Gou Yu made his move.
He turned on Zhu Niao’s computer, set it to mute, and began scrolling through her browser history.
At that moment, the little bird on the bed understood.
This jerk was looking for a certain lost website.
All her previous worries were for nothing. If Gou Yu really had any intentions toward her, he wouldn’t need to sneak around, not even just to get a piece of clothing from the wardrobe.
But Gou Yu really did wait until the middle of the night, specifically picking a time when she was supposed to be asleep, to sneak into Zhu Niao’s room and search her computer for that mysterious website.
He didn’t find it.
And it was nearly impossible for him to find it. Zhu Niao would never use her computer for that kind of thing. Even if she did, she would clear her browser history immediately.
He should have checked Zhu Niao’s phone.
But Gou Yu, scratching his head with a troubled look, obviously hadn’t thought that far. He simply closed the browser and opened the little game on Zhu Niao’s desktop.
Zhu Niao, lying in bed, widened her eyes in surprise and almost forgot to pretend she was still asleep.
She watched as he zeroed in on the only questionable game on her computer, then started playing using her save file.
That was Zhu Niao’s pure save file, one she’d played for a long time but never dared to touch further. She intended to clear the game without triggering any indescribable plot.
She even saw Gou Yu pick up a tissue from nearby.
No way, bro, are you for real? In your best buddy’s room? Using your best buddy’s computer and tissue? And your best buddy is staring at your back from the bed.
Zhu Niao wanted to cover her eyes.
But then she saw Gou Yu just blow his nose with the tissue and toss it aside.
After cracking his knuckles, Gou Yu officially started playing the game.
Not long after, he accidentally ran into a slime at the entrance, got attacked, and triggered a CG scene.
With an unskippable CG animation, Zhu Niao watched helplessly as her cherished game heroine, whom she’d painstakingly nurtured and restarted for who knows how many times, was violated right in front of Gou Yu.
The worst part was, Gou Yu even shook his head at the CG scene, looking dissatisfied and a bit picky.
Zhu Niao felt an unexplainable fire rise in her chest.
Right then, she really wanted to jump up and give Gou Yu a good beating.
It was only at this moment that she truly experienced a feeling she’d never had before.
Her beloved game heroine, who had grown under her gentle care, was now taken and casually discarded by Gou Yu, who didn’t care about what she’d worked so hard to protect.
She felt like a sleeping husband, while her wife was submitting to Gou Yu right under her nose.
No, how could things be like this!
But she still had to pretend to sleep. It wasn’t the time to get up yet.
After all, the save file was still there. As long as she acted like she never saw this scene and reloaded that save, it would all be fine.
Thinking this way, Zhu Niao suppressed her urge to kill Gou Yu on the spot and continued lying on her pillow, watching him play without his knowledge.
She watched Gou Yu fail to escape after triggering the scene, lose all his health to the slime, and then sit there in contemplation, as if reflecting on what he’d done wrong.
Then, with a sudden realization, Gou Yu’s eyes lit up and he clicked on the now grayed-out interface.
It looked like he was gearing up to conquer the slime at the entrance in one go.
Just then, an unfortunately timed dialog box popped up.
[Do you want to save your current progress?]
Gou Yu froze and chose “Yes.”
Zhu Niao instinctively felt something was wrong.
She watched as Gou Yu scanned the dense list of save files for a long time before selecting the very first one.
That was Zhu Niao’s pure save file.
She watched as Gou Yu overwrote that save.
Gou Yu, realizing what he’d just done, also froze.
After hesitating at the game’s main menu for a moment, nervous and uneasy, he moved the mouse cursor to the first save file—the one he’d just overwritten.
He didn’t quite dare to click it open.
“Click it.”
A clear, ethereal girl’s voice came from behind. Among all the girls Gou Yu knew, only Zhu Niao had a voice like that.
“Ahaha, you’re awake. My computer was updating, so I just came over to play for a bit…” Gou Yu hurriedly explained, not even daring to look back.
A small, slightly chilly hand pressed against the back of his neck.
“I told you to click it open.”
Zhu Niao’s voice carried a pressure that made Gou Yu bow his head.
“I’ll open it, I’ll open it…”
With great difficulty, Gou Yu moved the cursor to the save file he had just overwritten and clicked it.
After the loading screen, the CG animation of a beautiful girl bound by a slime appeared in front of them.
Zhu Niao, silent, opened the character status panel. Behind the string of zeros, a single “1” for number of experiences popped up.
She closed the status panel, her face dark as she stared at the playing CG.
What a blood-boiling scene this was: a man and a woman alone in a room at night, dressed lightly, watching a scene unsuitable for children.
Unfortunately, nothing fun or exciting was going to happen next.
Gou Yu felt as if he’d been plunged into an icy abyss, cold to the bone.
Zhu Niao, still clutching the back of his neck, leaned in close and said, “If you don’t restore my save, I’ll tell your mom you’re having an affair.”
So Gou Yu hadn’t slept at all last night.
That explained why he looked so listless now.
“To be honest, I really think you two truly are from the same nest. I’m not even surprised this happened,” Ye Qingchang said approvingly after hearing Zhu Niao’s recount.
