The Mist Feather Serpent didn’t know how long it had been asleep—maybe two hundred years, maybe three hundred.
It first glanced around, discovering that even after all this time, the Mist was still just the same, giving a sense of peace.
But what was going on with this person before its eyes?
The Mist Feather Serpent’s gray-white, hardened pupils stared into Truth’s crimson eyes for quite some time before it finally reacted, startled.
It’s that person who stole my Authority! She’s actually awake!
Immediately after, the Mist Feather Serpent opened its pink serpent mouth, exposing two tiny, sharp fangs, its expression filled with hostility:
“Hiss!”
It could sense the aura of Authority and Mist coming from her—did that mean she’d already fused with the Authority?
That’s my Authority!
So angry… so frustrated…
At first, when it met Truth, the Mist Feather Serpent had wanted to offer her some benefits in exchange for getting its Authority back.
But Truth ignored the Mist Feather Serpent no matter how it tried to negotiate, stubbornly clinging to the Authority and refusing to communicate.
Fine, so she’s one of those who won’t listen to good advice and has to suffer the consequences!
The Mist Feather Serpent thought so, and then began a wild, stormy assault!
Sure enough, power talks!
But before long, it realized that the damage it dealt wasn’t even as fast as Truth’s passive healing recovery…
How could this be…
The Mist Feather Serpent tried many other methods—even kneeling down and bowing its head—but none of it woke Truth.
Eventually, out of options, it just went back to sleep. But halfway through, Truth woke it up.
Are you playing with me?!
Even though there was still a gap in strength between itself and this person, it couldn’t lose in terms of momentum!
Right now, this was its most hated human, bar none!
“Hiss!” Without hesitation, just like a cobra, the Mist Feather Serpent’s sharp fangs shot out two streams of sparkling “venom,” spraying right onto Truth’s face.
Truth instinctively closed her eyes.
Poison?!
[You have received Healing from the rare monster “Mist Feather Serpent.” Your health recovery is doubled!]
A Panel Prompt appeared before Truth. She tilted her head—wait, this isn’t poison, it’s healing… Could it be?
“Oh, right, this must be its way of showing goodwill!”
So, Truth gave the Mist Feather Serpent a dazzling smile, her face still wet from the serpent’s liquid.
And she actually dares to mock me in return! Is she really looking down on me? This is way too humiliating!
The Mist Feather Serpent was starting to panic—this was its only skill left, and it had hoped to hit Truth in the eye and do some damage, but sadly, it missed.
Since its birth, it had only used force twice. The first time was trying to snatch its Authority back from Truth, and the second time—was now!
“Ha!”
The Mist Feather Serpent opened its blood-red mouth, turned its head, and bit down hard on the webbing between Truth’s thumb and index finger, wriggling madly!
But after a moment, it got tired, leaving only a faint snake bite mark on Truth’s hand.
It even kissed me!
Truth was even happier. She really was beloved by all—even snakes couldn’t resist her.
Honestly, this little snake was being so forward, she felt a little embarrassed.
So, Truth closed her eyes and gently kissed the Mist Feather Serpent on the head. Its scales felt cold and smooth.
And then the Mist Feather Serpent cried, its whole body twisting.
It had completely broken down—not because Truth had humiliated it, but because it realized Truth wasn’t a bad person, but a truly good one…
Even after everything I did to her, she didn’t get angry. Instead, she showed me kindness.
No wonder the Supreme Authority of the Mist Lord chose to fuse with her.
Divine Authorities select suitable candidates for fusion, filtering by profession, gender, temperament, and so on.
For Truth to fuse with the Supreme Authority of the Mist Lord…
Could it be she’s really the kindhearted type who loves beautiful things?!
As the Will of Calamity of the Mist, the Mist Feather Serpent was the most compatible creature in the world with the Supreme Authority of the Mist Lord.
But now, since the Authority chose to fuse with Truth, did that mean Truth’s personality was similar to the Mist Feather Serpent’s?
If I accidentally took something from someone, I’d definitely return it and apologize sincerely, the Mist Feather Serpent thought. If this human were in my place, she’d probably make the same choice, right?
“Hiss.” After a moment, the Mist Feather Serpent gestured for Truth to put it down. She immediately and gently set it down.
After all, the Mist was her own territory—this little snake could never escape her grasp, so duck assured.
The little snake then motioned for Truth to watch, and began dragging its tail through the soft earth, writing something, making Truth a little surprised:
“It’s actually Chinese?”
This was actually Truth’s first time seeing the Mist Feather Serpent in the Mist. Wasn’t it supposed to be the Will of Calamity (Backup)?
She’d thought all Wills of Calamity would look like Calamity BOSSes—after all, the true form of the Will of Skyfire from Huoyun Island looked exactly like the final BOSS Heavenfire Scorpion she’d fought before.
But not this time.
The final BOSS of the Mist was a huge mist monster called “Mistveil Exalted,” whose appearance was much like Truth’s current Concealer form, and all she remembered about it was that it loved to spam AOE and that was it.
She’d expected the Mist’s Will of Calamity (Backup) would be another mist monster, but it turned out to be a little snake. How strange.
A few minutes later, the Mist Feather Serpent finally wrote nine characters with its tail, then looked up at Truth with a pitiful expression:
[Can you give my Authority back?]
“Authority?” Truth tilted her head.
“You mean the Divine Authority inside me? You’re saying it’s yours?”
“Hiss hiss.” The Mist Feather Serpent nodded furiously.
If it’s not mine, whose else could it be? As the incarnation of the Mist’s will, I was born from the Mist to fuse with the Authority, become the Exalted, and revive the Mist…
So could you give my Authority back?
“Smack!” The next second, Truth, lightning fast, grabbed the Mist Feather Serpent by the throat of fate:
“You wretch! I thought you were a cute little snake, but it turns out you just want my Authority. How dare you ask me to give it back? Even the gods wouldn’t dare to ask me that!”
So all that healing and kissing was just to get your hands on my Authority?
Ridiculous! It’s like those people who hand over a box of milk and expect me to get their son’s elementary school diploma into a state-owned company!
Dream on.
Even if it really was yours, so what? I’ll show you what power truly means!
“Hiss?!”
The Mist Feather Serpent was shocked. Wait, this isn’t how it was supposed to go?!
A person chosen by the Authority should be gentle and kind—so why was this one strangling me and calling me a wretch? Did the Authority make a mistake?!
No, the Authority shouldn’t make mistakes, right? Or…maybe this human didn’t actually fuse with the Authority?
The Mist Feather Serpent panicked, forcibly using its privileges to try and communicate directly with the Supreme Authority of the Mist Lord, ignoring Truth.
But the result left it in despair. It found the Authority was indeed inside Truth, perfectly fine and thriving… Why? Why would the gentle Supreme Authority fuse with such a bandit?!
It wanted to question the Authority, but the next second, the Authority actively rejected communication and stood on Truth’s side, delivering a single message to the Mist Feather Serpent:
[I’ve resisted for over five hundred years for you, and that’s the limit of my benevolence. Sorry, but now, I’ve become Truth.]
