The two of them talked about many things.
This could be considered Zhu Niao’s first time participating in a girls’ tea party as a real participant in real life.
Though, it wasn’t exactly a tea party—just two girls gossiping.
Only at times like this did Zhu Niao deeply realize the gap between men and women once again.
When boys talked about this sort of topic, it’d take at most thirty minutes before someone would start launching a blitzkrieg on Poland.
But girls could actually stick to the same topic for over an hour.
And what’s more, she didn’t feel tired at all.
Of course, it might also be because she was interested in the person she was talking about.
With Gou Yu not around, Zhu Niao had collected a trove of ammunition for future heated arguments with Gou Yu.
And, more importantly, she had obtained the most vital intel—stuff that Gou Yu would never tell her himself, not now and not ever.
She found out what kind of girls Gou Yu liked.
This answer came from the shop manager lady, Gou Yu’s own younger sister, so it was probably more reliable than hearing it straight from Gou Yu’s mouth.
First, Gou Yu’s preferred girl had to be close in age to him.
In other words, a peer.
Next, her height couldn’t exceed Gou Yu’s.
But since Gou Yu himself was over 1.8 meters tall, there were barely any girls out there taller than him anyway.
These two conditions didn’t really help much.
Next, Gou Yu liked girls with long, straight black hair.
Zhu Niao recognized this one—after all, she’d once gone through Gou Yu’s browser history and discovered that even in the cosplayer sections of his artistic videos, he only ever watched those featuring long, straight black hair.
Thinking of this, Zhu Niao casually gathered her own long, straight black hair that reached down to her hips.
There were more requirements to come; Gou Yu’s standards for a future partner seemed endless.
Gou Yu liked girls who were lively and cute, willing to play along with his nonsense, willing to suffer hardships with him—not just a confidante, but also a wife who’d stick with him through thick and thin.
Once these were all put together, it was enough to weed out nearly every girl, leaving almost none who could fit the bill.
And on top of all that, there was the most important requirement—he had to feel completely comfortable with her, able to stay close for years without the slightest discomfort.
At this point, she should be mocking her good buddy for dreaming of the impossible, for being a Troll Goblin who’s got quite the imagination.
But now, she couldn’t bring herself to do it.
Not to mention, Gou Yu was now a young master from a wealthy family—who was the swan and who was the toad, that wasn’t so certain anymore.
And another thing—the traits of this so-called “girl who’d satisfy Gou Yu, whom he’d definitely like”—why did it sound more and more as if it had been written with her in mind?
She looked into the shop manager lady’s sincere eyes.
It didn’t seem likely that the shop manager would make this up just to coax her.
She knew that among Gou Yu’s family, there wasn’t a single one who didn’t want her and Gou Yu to end up together—some even tried to set them up in all kinds of ways.
But she couldn’t believe someone as good a boss as the shop manager would try to trick her employee.
So, the problem must be Gou Yu himself.
And really, none of it was without basis.
First, the long, straight black hair—there was no need to say more; talking about it too much wouldn’t be very friendly toward the underage shop manager.
Next, height—Gou Yu was so obsessed with saving face that he always reported his height down to two decimal places; he’d never say he was 1.8 meters, but there had been a few times he rounded it up to 1.9 meters.
Then, willing to play along with his nonsense—because Gou Yu himself was already abstract enough.
Willing to suffer hardships together—Gou Yu could endure anything, he’d even become a gold-medal delivery rider.
And finally, needing to feel comfortable around each other—this one was even more obvious. Up to now, aside from her, there was hardly anyone Gou Yu got along well with, which showed just how hard it was to find someone who was easy to be with.
Right. Except her.
Zhu Niao curled up at her workstation, burrowed under her blanket, and shrank her neck.
She had long, straight black hair. She was shorter than Gou Yu. She’d play along with his nonsense and endure hardships with him.
As for being comfortable together?
The two of them had already been living together for years now—this wasn’t something that could be explained away as just “comfortable together.”
Zhu Niao suddenly felt a cold sweat breaking out, even though it was pouring rain outside and the air conditioning was running inside.
It was a cold sweat.
Nothing was scarier than realizing one day that you perfectly fit all your bro’s preferences.
Well, actually, there was something scarier—having to keep hanging out with your bro after realizing you totally matched his type.
Why did the future suddenly seem so bleak?
Zhu Niao hugged her arms, staring at her phone propped up on its stand, playing some mindless mini-drama.
She didn’t even know when she’d started to like watching these mindless shorts.
They were longer than regular short videos, but still shorter than your average drama—she could watch a few episodes and quickly tell if it was trash, then forward it to Gou Yu and her roommates.
While her thoughts were wandering, the shop door was pushed open again.
According to the shop manager lady, there shouldn’t be any customers today.
She looked up and saw the most common, cheapest dark raincoat, a yellow helmet, and a hint of yellow peeking out from the raincoat.
It was Gou Yu, still in his delivery uniform, wearing a raincoat, water dripping from every part of his body.
But not too much water, really.
Maybe because the downpour had lasted only two hours and had already stopped by now.
Gou Yu briskly stripped off his rain-soaked raincoat and tossed it to the side.
This made the shop manager lady, who handled the cleaning every day, twitch her eyelids.
“Little Bird, why didn’t you tell me you ran over here? I even went all the way to the girls’ dorm just to look for you and got scolded by the Dormitory Supervisor Auntie again.”
“You deserved it.”
Zhu Niao replied automatically, then met Gou Yu’s direct, unblinking gaze.
Suddenly, she looked away, as if she were avoiding something.
If Gou Yu really liked her type now, wouldn’t that mean…
No, no way. She’d already promised during that beach trip: as long as Gou Yu stayed by her side, everything would be fine—there was no need to let any strange obsessions mess up their lives.
But if—if one day, as they kept living together, Gou Yu accidentally fell for her, wouldn’t that be a huge headache?
No, no, that was Gou Yu’s problem—if he took their brotherhood and made it weird, that was his business. She was squeaky clean on her side.
She dodged Gou Yu’s face as he leaned in close, nearly touching hers.
She was clean, after all.
At least, she should be.
