Mu Nanqiu opened her wardrobe and picked out a few seasonal outfits. After all, it wasnโt very far, and since she had her own car, coming and going would be convenient, so there was no need to overpack. Once she had filled a suitcase to the brim, she felt that should be enough.
Pushing the suitcase into the living room, she let go of the handle, turned around, and locked her room with a key, just in case Bei Zhi decided to act up and go in.
Just as she turned back, she happened to catch sight of Bei Zhi poking half her head out of her room, looking over in shock.
โWhat? Do you have something to say?โ
Bei Zhi shook her head at lightning speed, pulled her head further inside, leaving only her eyes showing as she mumbled softly, brows drooping slightly.
โJie, youโre really not staying anymore? Then what about me?โ
Hearing this, Mu Nanqiu clicked her tongue. Donโt be fooled by how outgoing and open Bei Zhi seemed at school or around othersโshe was actually quite afraid of living alone.
Mu Nanqiu hadnโt planned for Bei Zhi to live with her at first. Living alone was easier and less trouble, but she couldnโt withstand Madam Muโs daily persuasion, plus her younger sister back then had seemed so small and obedient, so sheโd agreed.
Who could have guessed theyโd end up living together for nearly three years, and even now, Bei Zhi still needed looking after.
She rolled her eyes at Bei Zhi, a little annoyed.
โIf youโre afraid, just rent out one of the rooms and find someone to keep you company. Iโm not going to stay with you anymore.โ
โWuwu, how could you~โ
Bei Zhi pouted. She never thought this day would actually come, and so quickly at that. It felt like sheโd only just found out a couple of days ago, and after being affectionate yesterday, today her sister was already moving out. Really, once she got a girlfriend, she forgot her sister!
No matter how unwilling she was, Mu Nanqiu was still going to leave.
Watching her sister go out the door, Bei Zhi felt like crying. She quickly pulled out her phone and found Mr. Mantouโs account, fiercely cursing the one whoโd stolen her sisterโs heart. Unexpectedly, Mr. Mantou even helped her curse!
Su Yao had just come out of Zhang Liโs office, wiped the sweat off her forehead, and let out a long sigh.
She took off her face mask and inhaled a few breaths of the still-crisp air. After three or four deep breaths, she finally recovered from the lingering chill of the air conditioner set at twenty-six degrees. Only now did Su Yao realize Zhang Li had dressed formally without wearing anything thick.
It was spring, and though the temperature was still just a bit over ten degrees, sheโd switched to lighter clothes. Still, it wasnโt warm enough for her to wear something flattering and show off her beauty, but Su Yao didnโt mindโwhat she really cared about was seeing Mu Nanqiu in beautiful clothes.
Just the thought of it made her happy, and remembering that Zhang Li had mentioned subsidies and such, she became even more cheerful.
With a light and lively step, she walked toward her home.
Now that sheโd left school, there was no need to keep up any pretense. No one would recognize her as Mr. Mantou. Just as she was thinking this, her phone rang.
She checked the screenโit was Bei Zhi (noted as โlittle sister-in-lawโ), and reading the message, her heart skipped a beat. Her little sister-in-law was complaining that someone really was a charmer: her own sister had only just started dating, and now they were moving in together.
Was her little sister-in-law a bit reluctant?
Su Yao frowned, still thinking about Bei Zhiโs complaints, but then a different thought struck herโMu Nanqiu was really moving in, and today at that!
At that, Su Yao shivered.
Her mind went blank as she quickened her pace, running toward home.
Her hair fluttered as she ran, both hands swinging, her breathing coming in fits and starts. Usually, it didnโt seem like school was far from home, but today, Su Yao felt the road was endless. She just wanted to be at her place immediately.
Why, you ask? Because her home wasnโt tidy at all!
Sheโd been unwell the day before yesterday and felt tired yesterday, so she hadnโt cleaned. Sheโd thought sheโd do it today after coming home, but who wouldโve thought that whatever Mu Nanqiu said, she meant to doโsheโd said it yesterday and today she was doing it.
After a ten-minute run, Su Yao felt she was about to collapse.
Clutching her left side, gasping for air, she dragged her rubbery legs bit by bit toward the residential gate.
โYo, isnโt this Su girl? Didnโt see you this morningโare you back after class?โ
The security guard uncle was as enthusiastic as ever, but Su Yao ignored him, heading straight through the pedestrian entrance. She really didnโt have the energy to respondโnormally, sheโd at least manage a polite smile and a vague answer.
The old man looked a bit disappointed that Su Yao ignored him. Heโd wanted to talk to her about something, but it looked like it wasnโt important anyway.
At the stairwell entrance, Su Yao felt a bit of despair. She still had to climb up now. She figured Mu Nanqiu should still be eating and probably hadnโt arrived yetโif she took her time, it should be fine!
After resting for a minute or two, Su Yao started up the stairs.
Mu Nanqiu left her apartment with her suitcase, took the elevator down to the second basement, and loaded her suitcase into the trunk. After closing the trunk, she got into the driverโs seat and started the car.
Driving out of the underground garage and exiting through the side gate of her residential complex, she joined the main road and sped up toward the school. Though where she lived was in the opposite direction from the Su Family, it wasnโt really far. She quickly passed the school and arrived at the entrance to Su Yaoโs complex. After finding a parking spot, she got out, took her things, and walked to the community gate.
When the security guard saw such a pretty young woman, he was surprised. He didnโt remember anyone like her living there. But then, this complex was rather low-end; otherwise, they wouldnโt have had someone like him as a guard. His main job was just to watch the doorโif the door didnโt go missing, that was good enough.
โMiss, are you here to visit someone or to stay?โ
โHello, Iโm looking for Su Yao.โ
โSu girl, eh? Not sure if sheโs homeโhavenโt seen her go out today.โ
โI see. Thank you.โ
Mu Nanqiu replied politely with a faint smile, then wheeled her suitcase skillfully to Su Yaoโs building.
Checking the time, it was a bit after ten in the morning. Mu Nanqiu glanced upward; she was probably a bit early, but that was fine. She had Su Yaoโs class schedule and knew exactly when sheโd be free. Sheโd arranged everything perfectly.
