The fingers.
So weak—other than trying to wrest control of the body and making things difficult for herself, they’re completely useless.
So what exactly is the point of this little thing’s existence?
Staring at the Little Butterfly, Luo Shuangyue gently flicked its antennae with her finger, causing the little creature to show even more shame and frustration.
Hmm, so this little thing does have some intelligence, at least a little.
“You want to eat me, so if I eat you, it should be fine, right?”
Thinking it over, Luo Shuangyue decided she couldn’t leave any future threats behind; she needed to eat this little thing before it matured.
Otherwise, once the little one got stronger, wouldn’t she end up being devoured by it instead?
With that thought, Luo Shuangyue ignored Little Butterfly’s struggles, endured her disgust, and stuffed the Little Butterfly into her mouth.
“Eh? Ptooey, ptooey!”
In an instant, countless terrifying and primal desires surged through Luo Shuangyue’s consciousness, frightening her so much that she spat the Little Butterfly right out of her mouth.
No way, no way—if she ate this little thing, she really would become someone else.
This was troublesome.
Right now, the Little Butterfly wanted to eat her, but didn’t have the ability; she, on the other hand, had the ability to eat Little Butterfly, but didn’t want to, nor dared to do it.
The two of them just ended up stuck in a stalemate like that.
Having been swallowed and spat out by Luo Shuangyue, Little Butterfly was furious.
She flapped her wings, wanting revenge, but her wings were wrinkled and wet and she couldn’t fly at all.
She could only pitifully roll around on the grass.
“Hey little one, how about we make a deal? Don’t fight me for control of the body, and I’ll get you more food, okay?” Little Butterfly refused to give in. She still felt that the body should be hers.
“But with the way things are now, we can’t go hunting anyway.” Luo Shuangyue spread her hands.
If she let Little Butterfly hunt on her own, who would be the prey was really anyone’s guess.
Originally, having advanced perfectly, she should have the normal strength of a Demon Emperor, with all of Luo Shuangyue’s memories and combat experience. As for what the Little Butterfly provided… well, perhaps just a non-human consciousness.
The real consciousness of that Demon Emperor was neither Luo Shuangyue nor Little Butterfly.
She was the fusion of the two, but it seemed she died in the womb and never made it out.
“Are you really planning to use a body even weaker than an ordinary person to bite it out with those Demons, who are often a dozen or twenty meters tall? Besides, once Demons show up, Magical Girls will come quickly. We’re Demon Emperors now—if a Magical Girl catches us, things won’t end well.”
She said this to scare Little Butterfly—Luo Shuangyue really had no idea if there were Magical Girls around here.
But the first part was absolutely true: Little Butterfly’s total lack of fighting ability meant facing strong Demons would only lead to one outcome—death.
Dissatisfied emotions drifted from Little Butterfly’s side. Obviously, there was a big, juicy piece of meat right next to them, so why wouldn’t Luo Shuangyue let her eat it?
“That’s my girlfriend! She’s not food!” Just the mention of this made Luo Shuangyue angry. Xia Mo wasn’t something to be eaten.
Besides, how much could you possibly get from nibbling on Xia Mo?
When Xia Mo recovered, she could give them some Magic to eat. Wouldn’t that be even better?
Isn’t eating your fill every meal better than a single binge? Why didn’t this little thing understand such simple logic?
After Luo Shuangyue’s lecture, Little Butterfly’s obviously lacking intelligence was starting to break down, whimpering in distress.
For her newly-born self, long-term plans were just too much.
Yet instinct told her that what Luo Shuangyue said wasn’t wrong. Was her way of eating really mistaken?
Looking at the massive lifeform before her—which looked nothing like herself—Little Butterfly hesitated.
In the end, she conveyed her thoughts: she could stop fighting Luo Shuangyue for control of the body, but Luo Shuangyue had to hunt enough food every day, and when it was time to eat, she wanted to take over.
This was easy enough for Luo Shuangyue. Letting someone else gnaw on those Demons was even better for her.
“Fine, it’s a deal. No take-backs, got it?”
Little Butterfly didn’t respond, just lightly fluttered back onto the sleeping Big Butterfly’s head, looking just like the butterfly hairclip Luo Shuangyue wore when she transformed.
At last, Luo Shuangyue had the chance to observe the now human-shaped Big Butterfly up close.
She crouched down and reached out, touching the girl’s cheek.
A chill greeted her fingertips, and with just a bit of force, Luo Shuangyue’s finger sank straight into the girl’s cheek.
So this wasn’t a physical body, but a Projection?
Perhaps disturbed by Luo Shuangyue’s touch, the sleeping Big Butterfly’s tightly closed eyes cracked open just a little, meeting Luo Shuangyue’s curious gaze.
Those were silver-white eyes, exactly the same as the silver eyes of her father in Luo Shuangyue’s memory.
Yet these silver eyes held no emotion—their pupils were vacant, reflecting no image at all.
This was merely a Projection with no feelings or thought, just like the white silhouette Luo Shuangyue had encountered earlier…
She had thought she could use this chance to say something to her father, but Luo Shuangyue slumped to the ground in disappointment and let out a helpless sigh.
She suddenly realized that even after all these years, she barely knew her parents.
She’d always thought her father was just a slightly effeminate good man, but now it seemed even the identity of her father was questionable.
Luo Shuangyue figured it was entirely possible she had two mothers.
“Hey, little one, do you know who she is?” Luo Shuangyue pointed at the girl bound by White Flower Vine.
The aura from the White Flower Vine was familiar too. If she guessed correctly, it was her mother’s power.
So that sudden rampage of Big Butterfly before was actually part of her father’s plan? The goal was to make her a real Demon Emperor?
And her mother had left plenty of backup plans, bringing Shuang Xing immediately after she went wrong, and using Magic to banish her to this desolate world—while also tying up the troublemaking Projection of her father inside her head.
Tsk… So messy—her brain felt like it wasn’t enough to process it all.
Luo Shuangyue’s question received no clear answer from Little Butterfly.
Little Butterfly only conveyed that she felt a sense of closeness to this girl, and that she smelled delicious, so she was happy to perch there.
If the White Flower Vine wasn’t interfering with her contact while controlling the girl, Little Butterfly probably would already be gnawing away at the girl’s scalp.
In a sense, this Little Butterfly had indeed inherited the parentless nature of Demons—being able to bite her own dad without hesitation was something else.
“She’s your dad, so be careful.”
To this, Little Butterfly replied with just one sentence: What’s a dad? Can you eat it?
