“Do you trust me this much? Aren’t you afraid I’ll sell you off?”
Li Ang and Lias walked across the soft layer of snow, heading toward Yongshuang City.
At this moment, Lias was fiddling with the bracelet Li Ang had just given her.
Now, the little Succubus looked like an ordinary human girl; the horns and tail that marked her as a Succubus had disappeared without a trace.
The only thing unusual was her heterochromatic eyes, though the little Succubus herself didn’t seem to realize this.
So Li Ang had no intention of reminding her.
When Lias heard Li Ang’s words, she gave up studying the bracelet, pointed at the collar on her neck, and said matter-of-factly, “I’m your slave right now. You can do whatever you want with me.”
“But can you really bear to sell Lias, Master~?”
The girl hugged Li Ang’s arm, tilted her head up with a sly grin, and spoke each word deliberately.
Now, that mischievous nature unique to Succubi was gradually showing itself in the girl’s blood.
It gave Li Ang a bit of a headache.
But he didn’t refute her words.
When they arrived outside Yongshuang City, a luxurious carriage was quietly waiting by the gate.
As the two of them approached, the carriage’s curtain was lifted, and Madam Seretes poked her head out.
The elegant lady smiled warmly at Li Ang and invited, “Li Ang, is that you? He’s been waiting for you a long time. Hurry and get in.”
Seeing a strange woman speak to Li Ang, Lias immediately became alert, holding his arm even tighter.
Li Ang felt as if his arm was sinking into a deep mire, and he helplessly patted her arm, signaling her to relax.
“It’s fine. The Duke of Seretes is… well, one of us.”
Lias hesitated for a moment, but in the end she chose to trust Li Ang and followed him onto the carriage.
Both Duke and Madam Seretes were inside.
Upon seeing Li Ang board, the Duke finally let out a breath of relief.
He’d truly been worried that Li Ang would stand him up.
But soon, the red-haired girl behind Li Ang caught the couple’s attention.
It wasn’t just the girl’s stunning beauty, but also the collar around Lias’s neck.
“And this is…?”
“She’s my Personal Maid, Lias.”
Li Ang looked at the Duke and replied.
The two exchanged a glance and nodded.
Both of them were well aware of Lias’s true identity; this question was only to ensure that her status wouldn’t be exposed.
“My, this girl is so cute. How do you take such good care of your skin?”
Madam Seretes, seeing her husband’s look, eagerly stepped forward and took Lias’s arm, wanting to lead her aside.
But to her surprise, Lias dodged her extended hand.
Lias stood stock-still, clinging to Li Ang’s arm by his side, as if she hadn’t noticed Madam Seretes’s gesture at all.
For a moment, the atmosphere in the carriage turned awkward.
Seeing this, Li Ang quickly leaned over and whispered into Lias’s ear, “Go and sit with that lady for now. I have some things to discuss with the Duke.”
Hearing him, Lias finally let go, puffed up her cheeks, and went with Madam Seretes to sit on the other side of the carriage, leaving Li Ang and the Duke some space.
Although things had been a bit awkward, Madam Seretes didn’t seem to mind at all.
She was still very enthusiastic, holding Lias’s hand and chatting away.
“Your name’s Lias, right? You’re so pretty…”
“Your eyes are beautiful too…”
For the most part, it was Madam Seretes carrying the conversation, while Lias kept a cold expression.
Occasionally, when her background was mentioned, she’d respond as Li Ang had taught her: she was an orphan, bought by Li Ang, and so on—just a few words.
She’d thought this would make Madam Seretes talk less, but unexpectedly, after hearing about her background, the beautiful noblewoman only became more sympathetic, as if her motherly instincts had been awakened.
This actually made Lias a bit uncomfortable, since this lady beside her seemed like a gossipy, carefree girl—just a bit… scatterbrained.
Naturally, Li Ang took note of the scene as well.
The Duke waved his hand and set up a familiar Magic Formation, instantly blocking out all sound from outside.
“Not bad. No wonder you’re so captivated by her—a Succubus is truly a Succubus.”
The Duke of Seretes winked at Li Ang, teasing him.
“Duke, let’s get to the point. What do you need me to do when we reach the Capital?”
Li Ang cut straight to the chase.
Upon hearing this, the Duke sobered up and grew serious.
The Duke’s request was simple: Li Ang would officially announce his joining of the Seretes Family.
They would then provide Li Ang with housing, materials, and equipment.
Of course, the payment was first-purchase rights to the potions Li Ang produced—the Seretes Family would always have the right to bid first.
They would naturally offer a reasonable price.
This request wasn’t excessive, and besides, it didn’t interfere with Li Ang’s own plans, so he nodded in agreement.
A few days later, they arrived at the Capital.
With the Duke’s arrangements, Li Ang and Lias were brought to a mansion.
The mansion was spacious, with two floors, but since Li Ang specifically requested no maids or butlers, it felt a bit empty.
The two entered the mansion.
“Wow, Li Ang, this place is huge!”
Once alone with him, Lias immediately reverted to her true self, changing from a huffy Hakimi into a gentle little cat Succubus.
Li Ang, however, remained calm—after all, the Visilia family’s mansion was far larger than this one.
“Go ahead and pick a room.”
Li Ang went upstairs, picked a room nearby, and put down his backpack.
Lias chose the room right next to his.
The rooms had recently been cleaned, so there was no need to tidy up further, especially since neither of them had brought much with them.
“Li Ang, Li Ang, can I make dinner for you?”
Lias looked at him excitedly.
“You… Uh, sure.”
Li Ang hesitated a little, since he’d never seen Lias cook before.
Could demonfolk inherit such skills?
Seeing the girl’s enthusiasm, he didn’t want to spoil her mood and nodded.
He took out the notebook where he recorded his potion formulas and began listing the materials he needed.
“Yueling Flower… Hmm, and two sets of Maid Uniforms.”
It wasn’t that Li Ang wanted to see them; but as a maid, not having a Maid Uniform was just a bit too unreasonable.
After putting down his pen, Li Ang suddenly caught a whiff of smoke in the room.
He looked toward the kitchen, from which the sound of a girl coughing could be heard.
A bad feeling crept into his heart. He got up and walked toward the kitchen, only to be met by a rush of burnt smell.
The girl, covered in soot, dashed out.
At the door, Lias looked a bit guilty and a little wronged as she said:
“I… I didn’t do it on purpose…”
