“Were you invited here by the Holy Throne?”
Roman tilted his head as he asked.
Lady Catherine came back to herself and answered.
“Yes.”
“She specifically invited you over?”
Roman asked doubtfully.
Even he could clearly sense that after that night, the relationship between Lady Catherine and Sylvia had dropped to freezing point.
The two probably wished they could swallow each other whole.
Yet, after just one day, Lady Catherine had been summoned, and was to stay here long-term as his Supernatural Mentor.
If Luo Xiya hadn’t arrived last night, and if the two hadn’t poured their hearts out to each other this morning, Roman would have quickly realized that Lady Catherine was a bargaining chip used to “prevent” her from returning.
But now, Roman didn’t have such a strong desire to go back, so he just felt curious—was the Holy Throne really that generous?
Lady Catherine held Roman’s hand, subconsciously checking his body, and suddenly frowned slightly.
Then, her gentle face showed a worried expression as she cupped Roman’s cheeks and stared at him.
“Why is your Magic Power reserve so low? Did something happen?”
She asked in concern.
Roman and Lady Catherine were so close their faces almost touched.
Staring into her sea-blue eyes, the same as Luo Xiya’s, he suddenly felt guilty as he recalled the reason.
Because of his guilt, his breathing quickened, and their noses nearly brushed, their lips almost touching.
“P-please don’t ask.”
Roman struggled to speak.
What could he say?
He couldn’t possibly admit that during a night of intimacy with Luo Xiya, he had nearly given all his Magic Power to her to tend her wounds, could he?
Lady Catherine stared at him for a long time before realization dawned.
A blush spread across her mature features.
Silently expanding her senses to confirm that Sylvia was not nearby, she then faced Roman with a reddened face.
“You child… how could you be so indulgent?”
The more she thought about it, the more embarrassed and annoyed she became.
She pinched Roman’s cheeks and rubbed them in frustration.
Yet, after saying the first sentence, she found herself unable to continue.
Her mind raced through all sorts of blush-inducing possibilities.
Could this child really not control himself?
They say only the person who tied the bell can untie it.
But she couldn’t possibly personally guide Roman again to stop his wild thoughts, could she?
Her gaze shifted several times before she continued, blushing.
“Tell me honestly, last night… what time did you finally go to sleep?”
It was a subtle way of asking; as a smart woman, she could guess the number of times based on the time.
“I… I don’t know.”
If he had given a number, it might have been better.
But when he said he didn’t know, Lady Catherine could only imagine the worst.
With Roman’s Magic Power reserves, to completely deplete his Magic Power…
Lady Catherine thought silently.
If Elise were present, she would surely shake her head, thinking Lady Catherine wasn’t imagining enough…
One had to know that, that day in the room, just to release excess Magic Power, she had nearly limped out the door.
To truly exhaust all of Roman’s Magic Power, Elise estimated it would be a terrifying number…
After her expression shifted several times, Lady Catherine finally spoke to Roman in a trembling voice.
“You’re not allowed to do such things anymore. It will seriously harm your body’s growth.”
“And also…”
It seemed Lady Catherine struggled with herself for a long time before finally speaking.
“If you really can’t control yourself, you can come to me.”
“I will help you… in another way.”
At this point, Roman’s breath caught. He couldn’t utter another word.
Looking at Lady Catherine’s voluptuous figure before him, her motherly curves like an inviting, sinful bed, he felt himself being lured into an endless abyss.
In the end, he gave no response, not even a nod, stubbornly keeping his mouth shut.
“Then you mustn’t do this again in the future.”
“…Mm.”
***
“Haa…”
The two walked for a long time, the earlier awkwardness finally fading.
Roman still habitually let Lady Catherine hold his hand, like a child being guided by an elder along the road.
“You’re very familiar with this place.”
Roman tried to dispel the earlier awkwardness as much as possible.
“Yes, I used to live here for a long time.”
An elder’s composure is remarkable—she adjusted her mood quickly.
Lady Catherine smiled faintly, as if nothing had happened between them moments ago.
“My first time coming to the Holy City, I did so with the intent to travel.”
Reaching a certain room, Lady Catherine skillfully took out a key and opened the door.
“Haa…”
Leading Roman inside, Lady Catherine glanced around the spotless, newly renovated room and couldn’t help but show a bitter smile.
“The Holy Throne truly keeps her word.”
“Why do you say that?”
Lady Catherine walked into the room, removed one of the two rings from her right hand, and placed it on the table.
“Last time the Holy Throne failed to persuade me to stay, she made me a promise.”
“She told me that no matter when I returned, she would have my room cleaned and ready to welcome me at any time.”
“Your status in the Holy Throne’s eyes must be quite high.”
Roman remarked.
Lady Catherine smiled at his words.
“At the time, I only wanted to borrow the Cathedral Library, but happened to be caught up in the matter of Milis.”
Back then, her position in the Holy Throne’s heart was indeed not low, but now… perhaps it was even higher.
“I helped them resolve the trouble caused by that child Milis, and instead, they clung to me, not wanting me to leave.”
“Looking back now, my choice back then was absolutely correct.”
“Eh?”
Roman was confused.
But Lady Catherine gazed at him tenderly, speaking earnestly.
“If I had stayed in the Holy City, I wouldn’t have gone to fight the Demonic Flower and wouldn’t have been cursed.”
“Isn’t that better?”
“No, that would have been terrible.”
Lady Catherine shook her head.
Roman, hearing this, gradually understood and said nothing more.
“In that case, I wouldn’t have gone to the Lily Territory, wouldn’t have had my fate intertwined with my precious child, and wouldn’t be here now.”
Lady Catherine gently held Roman’s hand, tightening her grip as she spoke.
“That kind of future is not the future I desire.”
The difference in height allowed Lady Catherine to look down at Roman.
She stroked his head lovingly, her voice full of emotion.
“If we followed another world line, perhaps today would have been our first meeting.”
“And by then, I might never have had the chance to become entangled with your fate.”
