“It really is unbelievable. Aren’t the heroes from your company supposed to be magical girls? Yet you have such advanced exoskeleton maintenance technology, and even your interns are specialized in this field…”
“Miss Fran is an all-round genius! She’s not only versed in hardware and software, but even biology and artificial intelligence too. There’s nothing in this world she doesn’t understand~”
When Lucia mentioned Fran Livka, there was a strange pride in her tone.
And the ‘APP’ she was referring to was, in fact… the Nyx Terminal APP.
In the end, all the little espionage gadgets Fran had meticulously prepared weren’t as convenient as using Nyx.
Thanks to Nyx, even the comparatively underdeveloped Sigma Hero Company got to witness what a true super AI could do. In just a few seconds, Nyx could finish a full diagnostics scan, covering both hardware and software, with absolutely foolproof results—she even found several technical vulnerabilities, though she didn’t tell Anya about them.
Nyx wasn’t just helping Anya check the exoskeleton.
She copied every bit of technology, all the functions, even the complete schematics from all four suits of armor—leaving no trace in the system at all.
This was a true cyber phantom—a thief you couldn’t see.
[Nyx must remind you once again: this kind of technological theft is in violation of Nyx’s ethical code. Nyx should not be used for such purposes.]
Even having done all this, Nyx was, after all, a “Hero Driver.” She had her own convictions.
Lucia could only offer a wry smile in response.
“Alright, alright, our virtuous Miss AI~ Even if you set aside the tech theft, you’ve saved me tons of work. If I had to check all these exoskeletons by myself, there’s no way I’d finish before midnight, and I’d probably miss a few things, too.”
As Lucia spoke, she looked up and glanced over at Anya, then called out loudly, “Anya! All the checks are done! Can I get off work now?”
“You work way too fast, girl!”
Anya let out a sigh, then added, “But don’t be in a hurry. There’s still a bit of a way to get back to the resort. Pure White Storm will be over soon—let her give you a ride back.”
“Ah! You mean Mr. Systa?”
Lucia couldn’t help feeling curious about that handsome young hero—he and Clara seemed to have a somewhat ambiguous, hard-to-define relationship.
“Mr.?”
But Lucia’s form of address left Anya briefly stunned before she nodded.
“Ah, yes… She’ll need her exoskeleton tonight, so after the emergency repairs and testing, she can escort you back to your room… As for me, I’ll probably be sleeping here in the hangar.”
Even with speedy inspections, repairs couldn’t be done in an instant.
Anya couldn’t help but let out a wry smile, but for a Hero Company employee, working overtime was just part of the job.
The first order of business was to get Pure White Storm’s exoskeleton repaired, so Anya hadn’t let Lucia handle that one—she took charge herself.
After all, how could Anya know Lucia had such a magical tool APP in her hands? And since that was Dream Witch’s exclusive tech, she didn’t feel right asking to use it.
…
So, Nyx was the only one who hadn’t stolen the technical data for this particular suit of armor.
D
Pure White Storm’s exoskeleton used the most advanced tech—there was no way Lucia would overlook this set. She asked, “Miss Anya, should I use Dr. Fran’s APP to run a check?”
“Oh, is that alright? Then please help me check if I missed anything!”
This time, Lucia didn’t operate it herself. Instead, she handed the phone directly to Anya, letting her use it on her own. That way, Anya’s suspicions would be put to rest—she wouldn’t worry about Dream Witch stealing any technology.
Even though it had, in fact, already been stolen.
Nyx also very cooperatively generated a simple foolproof UI to deceive Anya.
Anya tipped up the brim of her cap and marveled again.
“The interface is so simple! No wonder you say you can’t use the professional inspection equipment.”
“But if this kind of thing were made widely available, even a layperson could maintain exoskeletons, right? Isn’t Dream Witch planning to become a software company?”
“That’s something I’ll have to ask Dr. Fran…”
“It’s such a waste if something this good is only used internally!”
After all, there was no way to distribute it—the Nyx Driver only existed in a single unit.
….
It was clear Anya really wanted the Nyx Terminal APP, but to avoid complications, Nyx had no intention of installing her terminal on anyone else’s phone.
These terminals were meant to facilitate communication with people other than Clara, but there was no need to interact with the Sigma Heroes—and most importantly…
….
The Azure Cavalry who participated in that operation might know something inside, and might even recognize Nyx. To avoid being captured and dragged back to the lab, Nyx was determined to keep this secret.
Just then, the box-shaped computer off to the side gave a synthesized electronic beep.
“Beep beep, please run a check on BB-0027’s Lunar Bus as well.”
A red light flashed from the camera on the box.
That box was the driver AI for the Lunar Bus. For convenience during repairs, it had been removed from the bus, since it would be the vehicle for the return trip. The resort’s mechanics would spend the week fixing it.
“Ah, Driver, you’re still alive?”
Anya glanced at the phone in her hand and explained, “Thankfully, the high-energy particles didn’t get into the cabin. The driver’s in good shape—the only problem is with the Lunar Bus… But Driver, my current job is to fix these exoskeletons. You’ll have to leave your bus to the resort’s repairmen.”
“Beep beep, a driver without a bus is meaningless.”
BB-0027 stated this bit of seemingly profound nonsense.
Just then, the sound of clacking footsteps echoed from the hangar doors.
“Honored guests.”
A tall woman with gray-white hair and a stunning figure—attractive even by other women’s standards—approached in the resort staff uniform and high heels fit for a hostess.
Lucia remembered her.
She’d seen this person earlier that afternoon, when she’d come through the solar storm and arrived at the station.
Behind her was a beautiful young man with short white hair.
“I’ve brought Lady Pure White Storm.”
“Thank you for your trouble.” Lucia nodded.
Pure White Storm had come to test the exoskeleton after repairs.
Unlike the others, Pure White Storm would be flying. If the tests weren’t thorough and something went wrong in the air, the consequences would be far more serious than for the other three.
“Mm, the test results match mine.”
Anya returned the phone to Lucia and also looked over at Pure White Storm.
“Your exoskeleton suffered the least from the solar storm. The armor is the thinnest, but its resistance to the solar storm is the highest—it’s the newest model, after all. Just wait a bit, repairs will be done soon.”
Since Anya said that, Lucia figured she’d have to wait a little longer in the hangar.
Rather than looking at Pure White Storm, whom she’d seen several times before, Lucia turned her curious gaze to the beautiful staff member, only to see her smiling back.
“Miss, is there something on my face?”
“No, I just thought… Big sister, you’re really beautiful?”
“Oh my~ Little sister, you sure know how to flatter someone.”
Though she was smiling as she spoke, for some reason, Lucia couldn’t shake the feeling that this woman was a bit…
