Three teammates had already been identified and apprehended by illusion, leaving only one last Ox Nun.
Upon seeing this Ox Nun, the Empress’s Will also smiled, as if amused by this unexpected roadside figure.
How could such a lowly race be allowed to enter City Long? Even to have such a thing placed before her was a waste of noble blood; the mere thought was enough to make one’s heart ache.
Qin looked into the memories of this Ox Nun, and the Empress’s Will laughed again. It was simply too easy, so easy it was laughable. With a mere step, the barrier could be breached; with a single gesture, the perfect illusion could be constructed.
Niubao found herself no longer within the city, but instead standing before a public execution platform.
“Prepare for judgment!”
“Execute the heretical Magic User!”
“Punish the vile outsider!”
All around, countless villagers shouted with raised arms, the crowd surging with indignation.
Looking up, she saw her beloved nun, Little Cannon, bound and hanging above the platform.
At this sight, the Ten Ox Nun instantly froze in place, turning into a motionless zombie, her spirit extinguished in a flash of light.
“Burn her! Burn the Ox Demoness!” The Empress’s Will even mingled within the crowd, playing the role of a village girl, shouting loudly to incite the people’s fury.
“She is a witch! Just like that evil demon nun—burn the witch!” At once, everyone seized the bewildered Ox Nun, tied her up, and staked her atop the pile of firewood.
A villager lifted a torch, setting the flames alight, and Niubao was instantly engulfed in smoke and fire.
It was over. If you died within the illusion, your real body would experience the sensation of death. Burning to death was the most excruciating of pains.
“Ah—ahh—ahhh—”
Yet, as the burning dragged on and on, the Ox Nun remained like a piece of iron, unyielding. Why was it that no matter how hot the flames, she didn’t die? Why did the agony never break her spirit, no matter how long it raged?
The fake village girl played by the Empress’s Will began to sweat, sensing that something was wrong.
She felt her illusion space trembling, as if some dreadful power was infiltrating it—something she had never seen before.
Within the flames, the Ox Nun’s entire body had become charcoal, yet her sharp eyes remained undestroyed by fire, shining with a chilling golden light that seemed to lock onto the figure of the Empress’s Will hidden among the crowd.
She could actually detect the caster’s position within the illusion itself.
Just what was this Ox Nun? She certainly wasn’t human!
Her class…
Perhaps not even weaker than the Blood Clan True Ancestor!
“Moo—haa—moo!”
Cracks began to appear on the blackened skin, and, like a phoenix from the ashes, she was reborn. Mere flames could not harm her.
“Roar! Moo!” With the sound of a dragon’s roar and a bull’s bellow rising together, a massive, sinister silhouette suddenly appeared atop the execution platform. With a single stomp, it crushed the raucous crowd, sweeping everyone into a storm of devastation, reducing them all to ashes.
Only the Empress’s Will—still in her guise as a village girl—barely withstood the raging onslaught, but she was sent rolling by the shockwave, forced to expend immense illusion power just to hold her body together.
“What is this?!” The village girl stared in horror at the monster before her. In all her thousands of years, she had never seen anything so terrifying!
A colossal, obsidian bull body, with pure white dragon-scaled limbs, and four vast dragon wings that blotted out the sun.
But even more fearsome was the tail, stretching hundreds of meters long, thicker than the bull’s already towering body. A single sweep could destroy any city wall.
In contrast, the monster’s head was very small, for at the cross-section of the bull’s head was the upper body of the Ox Nun, her lower half fused with the huge half-dragon, half-bull creature.
At this moment, Niubao’s appearance had undergone a tremendous transformation, most notably the addition of two dragon horns beside her two bull horns.
Her eyes had become glowing golden dragon pupils, exuding a divine indifference to everything, as if she saw all yet cared for nothing.
“A dragon… Not an ordinary dragon… You… carry the blood of the [Auspicious Dragon] within you!”
The village girl’s face twisted in fear, regretting her own intelligence—knowing too much only made her realize how insignificant she truly was.
This was not merely an existence on par with the True Ancestor, but something even higher—an entity of a higher dimension, the kind of horror only immortal monsters like herself who had survived countless years could possibly know!
The difference between an Auspicious Dragon and an ordinary dragon was like that between man and god—they were Dragon Gods.
Of course, this little Niubao before her was still far from a true Dragon God.
She was merely a mortal who had inherited the skin of an ancient dragon. Yet just a sliver of Dragon God blood had turned her into this world-destroying form.
“Ha, ha, ha—!”
The village girl suddenly burst into wild laughter—one moment stunned, the next crazed.
The reason was simple: for the Queen of the Blood-Sucking Ghosts, the appearance of this Ox Nun was a great boon!
She was originally a sinister Magic User who gained strength by devouring the blood of others.
This Ox Nun, heir to the ancient dragon’s legacy, was a treasure trove beyond compare!
If she could swallow her and seize the power of the Dragon God, she would instantly break this cursed seal, project her true self into the real world, and be invincible.
Even if it meant burning away what little willpower she had left, she would gamble everything to capture this little Ox Nun!
The village girl’s body was bathed in crimson, and in an instant she reverted to her true form—a golden-haired, poorly dressed noblewoman.
“[Blood Sea]!”
The Empress’s Will channeled the majority of her blood magic power into this illusion world, unleashing her mightiest Blood Magic.
At this moment, it was no longer mere illusion, but more akin to a Spirit Realm woven by four of the mightiest Magic Users, where all could be wounded in spirit.
The Empress’s Will now stood directly opposite the bull-dragon Niubao. Even if the defeated would not die, their spirit would suffer grievous harm.
Illusion, spirit, Magic Domain—these powerful spells all blurred together, their boundaries indistinct, overlapping and diverging at once.
In any case, the Empress’s Will had thrown caution to the wind; illusion was always a weapon of cunning, not a technique of righteous force.
Her real body fragment was still there, dueling the soon-to-be-forgotten Stick Bug, while her spirit will fought here—battling on two fronts at once.
But now, the outcome of the battle with the Magic User nun mattered little; she had focused more of her magic here.
If Niubao could be devoured, the first team would be finished. That Stick Bug would no longer be necessary.
“Howl, my blood! Flow, my sea! Open the gate!”
Countless streams of blood gathered and solidified, forming an endless mountain of flesh and blood.
Its surface was made from hideous remains—fragments of monstrous beings of all kinds, intermingled with broken bodies of fallen creatures, all once slain by the Queen of the Blood-Sucking Ghosts herself.
From every era there were abominations and human warriors; on its surface, the history of thousands of years could be glimpsed.
The Queen of the Blood-Sucking Ghosts had projected her true form into her own illusion world.
She would risk everything to devour the blood of the Dragon God!
“Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!”
Like a living mountain of flesh and blood, the Empress’s true body pressed forward, like an unstoppable crimson sea. The whole illusion world trembled as the tide surged relentlessly toward the godlike Niubao.
True Ancestor Fragment versus Dragon God’s remnant blood!
The final judgment within the illusion!
