“Musicheng, that’s enough, isn’t it?”
The gun pressed against the back of the Mu Family Head, Musicheng’s, head.
Musicheng turned to look and realized that his fellow clansmen were all looking at him with distant, hateful eyes.
“What are you all… trying to do?”
Musicheng straightened his collar, ignoring the gun at the back of his head, and walked over to the dressing mirror as if nothing had happened.
He picked up a razor, shaving his beard as he asked, “Go ahead, what gave you all such courage to dare rebel?”
“Stop now, Musicheng. Yun Luo Xian is about to get involved in the crafting industry… You already saw the result of the Potion Market. If they take the crafting market too, we’ll be finished!”
“Oh? So that’s what you all came for?” Musicheng suddenly understood, “You’re afraid and want me to tuck my tail and surrender?”
“It’s not surrender… There’s an old saying in Donghuang, ‘A wise man submits to circumstances.'”
“Submit to circumstances?”
“Tracing back, Yun Luo Xian and her younger sister are Mu Family members after all. Back then, it was you who wronged Yun Qingyou and forced her away, so she returned for revenge… If you’re willing to bow your head, they could become our Mu Family’s greatest support!”
The man with the gun, Musiyi, said, “That would also be the only path to survival for our Mu Family!”
“How should I bow my head?”
“Of course by returning to Yun Qingyou what she deserves. The position of Family Head was originally her parents’, but you schemed and took the position by force… Giving it back now is only right.”
“Ha—!”
Musiyi’s hand paused.
He sneered and laughed, “Wasn’t it you all who supported me in doing that back then? What now, just because you see you can’t win, you want to wash your hands of it?”
“What else could we do? Do you want to lose the crafting market completely too, and then let them stomp on our faces and mock us? Even Yun Muchen is dead, all the experts we sent from the clan are dead, we’ve lost!!” Musiyi roared, “We’ve already lost! Do you understand?”
“Coward.” Musicheng sneered,
“The crafting market is worlds apart from the Potion Market. There are countless rules and secrets here—it isn’t something you can win with a single formula… This is our chance, yet you flee before the fight even begins! Useless!”
“That Yun Luo Xian has mastered cutting-edge technology! Do you understand? The Qilin can grant her new formulas and crafting methods! We’ve lost! Lost to legendary celestial beings, lost to a wrong choice—you chose Yun Muchen instead of Yunxian!”
“Sigh—”
Musicheng washed the shaving cream off both cheeks with cold water.
He looked at himself in the mirror, and at Musiyi behind him, shaking his head in disappointment.
“Talking to idiots is really exhausting.”
“Splurt—”
He suddenly turned around, flicking the razor like lightning, and slit Musiyi’s throat.
Before Musiyi could even fire, his arm was knocked aside, and he could only fall to the ground clutching his throat in unwillingness.
“You… Sicheng… you dare… kill…”
“If I dare to kill the Family Head, why not you?”
Musicheng swept his icy gaze around.
That aura immediately intimidated the rebels, making them unable to meet Musicheng’s eyes.
“No need to be nervous. I know you’re afraid, I know you worry about the future… But there’s no need to fear,” Musicheng showed a confident smile,
“The Mu Family is my life’s work too. For so many years, just like all of you, I’ve devoted myself to leading our family to new heights… How could I bear to see it fall? Rest assured, all of you.”
“…” The crowd murmured, not daring to respond.
Actually, they hadn’t planned to kill Musicheng today. The guns were just for show… Their real aim was only to scare him.
To test his bottom line—if he had none, he would step down. If he had a trump card, he would show it to reassure everyone.
“I’ll be honest with all of you. This battle, Yun Luo Xian cannot win. Not only that, but she’ll lose every advantage in the Potion industry!” Musicheng spoke with full confidence.
“Family Head… why do you say that?”
“Because, we have a much stronger ally.”
“An ally?”
“Yes… Do you remember the space turbulence a few months ago? All spatial ability celestial beings grew restless, as if a demon had crossed the gate of time and space and entered this world. It was recorded as the B-5471 Anomaly.”
“I remember. After that, we got news of Yun Qingyou’s return.”
“We traced the landing point of the space turbulence to a basement in Kangcheng.”
Although everything inside had already been moved out, leaving no trace… we still found something near that basement.”
That Mu Family member swallowed nervously, “What did you find?”
“A magical scroll.”
Musicheng drew the scroll from his breast pocket with a reverse motion.
Because this scroll was too important, he always carried it with him.
He unfurled it—the handwriting inside was crooked, like chicken scratch.
At the front was a line of titles, though some characters were too damaged to make out.
[xx Sect: Handbook for New x Servant x Disciples x: Stu xx Notes]
He flipped past the title and kept reading.
Inside, everything was categorized, recording all kinds of knowledge about Potions and crafting!
“I’ve already read the scroll. The knowledge inside is more advanced than any known technique in the world—even Potions can be refined to Sixfold Potion effect! This effect is even better than Yun Luo Xian’s formulas!”
“Wow—Sixfold?!” The surrounding crowd was in an uproar.
“Yes, and that’s just the Potions. There’s more about crafting—those methods are far more advanced than any current technology… What does Yun Luo Xian have to fight us with?”
“True, true!”
“Hahaha, the Family Head is wise indeed!”
“So the Family Head has such a deadly weapon in hand. Doesn’t that make Yun Luo Xian a joke? We could wipe her out without effort!”
Musicheng contentedly stroked his smooth chin, his shiny black shoes wiping through the pool of blood, very satisfied.
“This is the advantage of resources,” Musicheng declared proudly, “We have strong capital and information channels, so we could search for space turbulence the moment it happened and obtain this scroll and its contents… This is an advantage they can never match.”
“The Family Head is right!”
“This battle, they’ll never win… With those little nobodies, how can they compete with our Mu Family?”
“Long live the Family Head!”
“Mmhm~ Go now, rally everyone below, get ready for the battle.”
Unfortunately, Cluru and I couldn’t find the Mu Family Head’s location.
“Damn, I bet after they heard I’m entering the crafting industry, they had an internal conflict… What a pity we couldn’t see it with our own eyes.” I stomped my foot in frustration.
“Well, so we didn’t find them,” Cluru didn’t care much, “But… just to be safe, I want to ask… you didn’t leave any loose ends out there, did you? Like a diary full of techniques, or some legendary artifact, Super Dan, Cultivation Method, anything like that…”
“No, I didn’t.”
I thought for a moment, then checked my Inner Space inventory again.
Everything I carried, including my body, was obliterated on the way back.
If anything did remain… it might be a scroll.
That scroll wasn’t anything special—just a bit of nostalgia, so I’d kept it somewhere safe.
“There is a ‘Thousand Moon Sect: Handbook for New Servant Disciples’—it’s a class notebook I made during my very first lesson. Maybe that got lost.”
“Is there anything important in it? It’s not some world-ending technology, right…”
I retorted, “When you were in first grade, did your teacher lecture on Tokamak controlled fusion and warp drive materials calculations?”
“Good point… So what did I learn in first grade again?” Cluru thought for a moment, “Oh, right, it was: Goose, goose, goose, its neck stretching to the sky, white-furred fox in the water, red palms patting pat, pat pat pat…”
“Exactly like that.”
