Early in the morning, Suzuki Yuu was already waiting in the student council room.
But Jinguu Amane had arrived even earlier than he did.
This once again made Suzuki Yuu feel that she wasn’t human—because her schedule was anything but normal.
After leaving the art exhibition yesterday, Suzuki Yuu originally planned to head back to his apartment, but was suddenly dragged off shopping by Jinguu Amane.
And at that time, he became convinced of one thing: as long as the other party was a girl, no matter her family background, when it came to shopping, they all loved to drag people around.
He could still remember her weaving through all the high-end boutiques in Ginza, moving with a lightness to her steps as if she knew not the meaning of fatigue.
But he was different; he simply found those places boring.
If there was anything at all that made him feel healed, it was watching Jinguu Amane show off outfit after outfit to him.
She was truly captivating—he could give nearly every outfit a high score of 98.
Too bad she didn’t allow photos.
Suzuki Yuu looked at the student council president uniform Jinguu Amane was wearing now and shook his head in secret.
But she didn’t seem to mind his gaze, instead greeting him naturally:
“Good morning, Suzuki-kun.”
Then she stood up, ready to make some coffee, but when Suzuki Yuu saw this, his eyelid twitched and he hurried forward to stop her:
“Wait, President, let me do it.”
After tasting the coffee brewed by Shiraishi, Suzuki had absolutely no desire to merely ingest caffeine for its own sake anymore.
“Hm? Sure.”
Jinguu paused, handing over the equipment.
Very soon, a steaming cup of coffee, gleaming with a light brown hue, was placed before Jinguu Amane.
She examined it for a moment, then lightly picked up the cup and took a small sip:
“Surprisingly good.”
Jinguu Amane praised.
“Of course. I work part-time at a café, after all. To be honest, the coffee you made before was really hard to drink.”
As soon as Suzuki Yuu finished speaking, Jinguu Amane’s hand, holding the cup, involuntarily trembled twice.
She still wore a smile on her face, but its meaning seemed to have changed:
“Is that so? Then, Suzuki-kun, from now on you can make coffee for me at this hour every day.”
“Huh? Do you know what time it is?”
Suzuki Yuu pointed at the student council clock, its hour hand currently resting at “V”.
“Suzuki-kun is so capable, I’m sure you wouldn’t refuse, right?”
“You’re just maliciously increasing my work hours!”
“Sorry, this is your first lesson—never let your boss know all your skills~”
Suzuki Yuu was at a loss for words. He could only reply helplessly:
“That’s abuse of authority…”
“How is it abuse? As my ‘boyfriend’, isn’t it reasonable to indulge a little request of mine?”
“Not everyone is as energetic as you. I need enough sleep… If you really want coffee, you can come to where I work part-time, and I’ll pick the best beans for you.”
“Oh?”
Jinguu Amane looked a little interested at that.
But just then, the student council room’s door was pushed open. A member walked in with dark circles under his eyes:
“President, here’s this month’s report. There shouldn’t be any mistakes or omissions.”
Saying that, the member put the report on the desk, then limped out of the student council room. It seemed that if a breeze came, he’d collapse right there and sleep soundly on the floor.
Watching the retreating figure, Suzuki Yuu shook his head:
“You really don’t let people rest.”
“I’ve already given them enough time. They always procrastinate till the last minute and then mess everything up. Who can they blame?”
Jinguu Amane replied, then picked up the report to check it.
During his time in the student council room with her, Suzuki Yuu often saw this side of her—it seemed she needed to triple-check everything.
Truly dedicated.
He offered this evaluation in his heart. But at that moment, she tossed a stack of documents his way:
“Refine this school trip proposal, then take it to the Operations Department.”
“…Alright.”
Seeing that Jinguu Amane had entered work mode, he didn’t say much more and got to work as well.
By the time he left the student council room, the morning classes were already halfway through.
“Skipped class again. I hope Kobayashi-sensei understands.”
Suzuki Yuu thought to himself. Lately, he’d barely attended class, always busy with all sorts of things.
Of course, he knew very well—as long as his grades didn’t drop, nothing would happen.
On that front, he originally wanted to use the system to cheat, but unfortunately, among his peers, very few had grades that could absolutely overwhelm him.
Even Shiina Chisa, who often ranked first, wasn’t that far ahead of him.
So for this, he could only find time to review on his own. Fortunately, he was good at studying.
His ranking fluctuated a little, but not by much.
As Suzuki Yuu was distractedly making his way to the Operations Department, he happened to pass by the library.
And through the window, he spotted a familiar figure.
“Hasegawa Aoi.”
She was reading a book, and it seemed to be a music theory book.
Suzuki Yuu stood at the window and focused his gaze, soon identifying the title.
“Advanced Cello Techniques”
Was she preparing for his lesson?
Seeing how seriously she was studying, Suzuki Yuu suddenly had a mischievous thought.
He tiptoed to the library’s main entrance and circled around behind the girl.
Then he leaned close to her ear and whispered:
“Senpai, you’re studying so early?”
His voice was soft, but it gave the listener a big scare.
If Suzuki Yuu hadn’t held her steady, she would’ve nearly fallen off her chair.
“Uwaaahhh!”
The girl, still shaken, blushed as soon as she realized what had happened. Pouting angrily, she turned and glared at the culprit.
“Suzuki! Yuu!” She lowered her voice, but every syllable was squeezed out through gritted teeth, quivering with shame and anger, “What are you trying to do!”
Her voice wasn’t loud, but in the quiet library, it was still clearly audible.
Quite a few people looked over, and Hasegawa snapped back to her senses.
Her face reddened even more, and she quickly stuffed her book into her canvas bag, then grabbed Suzuki Yuu’s hand and briskly left.
It wasn’t until they were far away that she finally relaxed, immediately shaking off Suzuki Yuu’s hand. Like a cat whose fur had been ruffled, she put her hands on her hips, glared at him, and puffed her cheeks.
“You—you, do you know how embarrassed you just made me!” Hasegawa Aoi’s cheeks were still red, and her light chestnut bob seemed to stand on end from anger, “My image is totally ruined!”
“When you’re in the clubroom, you don’t look like someone who cares much about image…”
Suzuki Yuu quipped, then held up the papers in his hand and said:
“I was heading to the Operations Department and happened to see you, so I came over to say hi. Who knew you’d scare so easily?”
“I was so focused—anyone would be startled, wouldn’t they!”
“Oh? So, Senpai, what book were you reading so intently?”
At that, Hasegawa Aoi’s anger immediately faded, and she grew bashful, turning her head away and mumbling:
“N-nothing, nothing to do with you!”
Seeing her stubborn denial, Suzuki Yuu didn’t press further. Instead, he suggested:
“Wanna come to the Operations Department with me? After I deliver the files, we can go play games in the clubroom for a bit.”
“Really?” Hearing that, Hasegawa Aoi’s eyes shone with anticipation.
“Yeah, but just for a while. I still have to practice.”
“No problem! Don’t worry, with me there, I’ll definitely teach you!”
“I don’t know how much faith I should put in that…”
“Come on, let’s get going!”
Saying that, Hasegawa Aoi eagerly pushed Suzuki Yuu forward.
