Knight Xiao Gao stood at Samimi’s side, his power fully unleashed. Countless bone-dissolving arrows shot out in rapid succession, requiring no aiming at all because his skills simply couldn’t miss. Wherever he aimed, corpses lay in heaps.

At the same time, Big Niubao, wearing a crown of thorns, leapt down from the city moat. With multiple enchantments enhancing his power, he wielded his magic-infused Golden Knight Sword and began a furious magical slash, carving a path through the masses of ghouls.
Chasing Demon Knights’ Captain Frolro and Tea Moon Mad Dragon soon joined him, cutting through the ghoul horde as they pressed forward.
In reality, only Niubao had the full suite of amplifications needed to jump into the corpse lake and fight. Tea Moon Mad Dragon and Papal Left Hand were both masters, so it was a bit risky for Captain Frolro to go in.
But with our severe manpower shortage, even the captain had to risk his life to relieve pressure on the frontline.
Papal Left Hand watched from the sidelines, her divine power trembling faintly. However, she couldn’t act now; the bigger picture took precedence, so she could only observe the battle.
“Earthquake! Firefall!”
The ground suddenly trembled several times as dozens of ghoul commanders appeared at the rear of the corpse creek.
“Director General, I have an important task for you—go and fetch two archers to help us here. Their poisoned arrows are useless up top; bring them down to me. I can enchant their arrows,” Samimi shouted loudly.
“Understood!” Director General Mei Shanyao nodded repeatedly, relieved she could finally be useful. She rushed off toward the rear of the battle zone, climbed up the tall tower, and reached the rooftop.
Two mysterious adventurer archers were still lingering there, looking lost.
“I’m ordering you to join her. I can enchant your arrows,” Mei Shanyao said, suddenly taking on the tone of a stern messenger.
“We want to…” One young archer tried to argue but suddenly fell silent, unwilling to cause trouble.
“I’m going immediately,” the level-5 archer agreed at once, then vanished on the spot with terrifying speed.
From the rooftop, the God-Qin Maiden Archer and Director General Mei Shanyao faced each other.
Both had large eyes and small noses—part sympathy, part rivalry.
They were both prized members of the team, flowers of the greenhouse whose reputations far exceeded their actual power. They had little real use but insisted on showing off.
“Nun, I’m telling you, go quickly. Don’t dawdle here,” Mei Shanyao told Samimi, annoyed by this young adventurer doing nothing.
“You say I’m dawdling? Do you know I spent all night in front of the castle yesterday?” The God-Qin Maiden Archer retorted coldly, refusing to back down.
Clearly, she wasn’t eager to approach Samimi, but what right did an idle Church flower have to criticize her?
“You!” Mei Shanyao growled, furious.
“I at least managed to wound a Pureblood last night. What have you done?” The maiden archer shot back.
Unbelievable—last night, the best swordsman and a young archer spent the entire night bickering here. Truly hopeless—on the second day, they were still quarreling and wasting time.
“What are you all doing? Get up to the city wall! What good are you standing around here? You’re not needed,” finally, the scout Karl shouted from the tower, putting an end to the pointless argument.
“Pfft,” the God-Qin Maiden Archer scoffed at Mei Shanyao and was the first to climb down the ladder, acting like she was being helpful.
Mei Shanyao, still bruised by the ghoul onslaught, reluctantly followed.
Being insulted by the young archer actually filled Mei Shanyao with courage, making her want to fight the enemy tooth and nail.
At the same time, an S-Rank adventurer archer quietly approached Samimi and Knight Xiao Gao, startling them.
“My lady, I can enchant your arrows. May I ask you to eliminate those massive ghouls on the left side?” Samimi suddenly became noticeably polite.
“No problem,” the S-Rank archer agreed immediately, removing her disguise.
Golden strands of hair cascaded down like streams of liquid gold.
Her slender figure was clad in an ultra-light armored leather suit tailored to her form, revealing a face so perfectly refined it seemed almost inhuman, adorned with a warm and genuine smile.
No one could deny that once they saw her long, pointed ears, everything made sense. Her beauty was undeniable—it was the ears that set her apart.
