“Senior, have you found anything?” asked the Mysterious Maiden of the Tainted Edge Archer.
“No, your aim really isn’t sharp,” the High-rank Archer commented.
“Senior, did you hear what Evil Little Nun Xing said? Is it true that our attacks don’t affect the Stone Ghost? And can your arrows actually kill the Bloody Ghost?” the God-Qin Maiden Archer asked again.
“They can kill, but only just. At most, I can kill Blood Ghosts as effectively as Rampaging Dragon Brother, but that’s only when I give it my all. When it comes to handling the Stone Ghost, Saints are a bit more adept,” the God-rank Archer answered honestly.
“Are the Bloody Ghosts really that dangerous?” the Autumn Maiden Archer asked, reluctant to believe it.
Since even her senior said that Blood Ghosts were hard to deal with, but that Evil Little Nun Xing could easily kill Stone Ghosts, it must just be a matter of professional advantage. If the opponent isn’t a Blood Ghost, then she’s just a useless pawn.
“I’m going to rest for a bit and keep observing. There will definitely be fiercer battles tonight,” the S-rank Archer said gently.
“Alright.” The God-Qin Maiden Archer got off the platform and left.
The smile on the S-rank Archer’s face deepened as she stood at the edge of the platform, staring at the chubby Knight Qiqi wandering in the map. It was hard to tell what she was thinking.
The Chasing Demon Knights rested through the entire morning and only arrived here in the afternoon.
Captain Frolro stared at Tianyu’s Black Sun, always feeling like she was still trapped in a dream.
It took her several minutes to realize she wasn’t dreaming. She slapped herself awake. It was time to get up and fight the undead.
This state meant that morale wasn’t very stable.
But the team’s mentality was already quite solid; it was only a brief daze without any other serious psychological issues.
The reason was simple: on the small city wall stood a deeply reassuring, powerful statue. Though small, it radiated strength and gave everyone an infinite sense of security.
Everyone here was a Knight and an adventurer. If even a young Nun like Little Nun could guard the frontline, how could they afford to slack off? Didn’t they have Face to keep?
Face was a strange thing—it sometimes had no use at all, but at other times was very important.
Those with ambition treasured their Face, understood their responsibilities, and had a sense of shame—they wouldn’t easily lose control. Of course, it also had to be in moderation. They had seen too many examples of the consequences of caring too much about Face.
“Karl, Minotauros, take a rest,” Captain Frolro said as she came over to relieve Karl and Niubao, taking over for the afternoon.
Though she said rest, they were already lying safely beside Samimi and Papqiduo, falling asleep instantly.
Captain Frolro suddenly felt a bit foolish, thinking about how she herself could have just stayed by Little Nun’s side in the Warehouse Castle instead of running so far.
Samimi came over and sat on the city wall, gazing towards the distant Deep Forest.
Without her guidance, the usual scenario was the team venturing into the Deep Forest only to be ambushed by ghouls and Blood Ghosts in a mixed assault—the Corpse Lord focusing on the front lines, Blood Ghosts attacking from behind. Even heroes would be worn down to nothing.
Eventually, they’d discover that the forest’s depths were empty and would have to retreat. It was a classic dark ending.
But she had already ruled out that possibility.
“Nun, you should rest,” the Papal Left Hand arrived at the city wall, accompanied by Director General Mei Shan Yaolin, who was more insistent on coming along.
The Director General was the one who’d spent the last battle slacking off in the rear, and upon reaching Samimi’s side, couldn’t utter a word, just quietly observing.
Even the Mysterious Maiden of the Tainted Edge Archer had retreated with a few boxes of supplies, along with support from the Azure Moon Rampaging Dragon and two riflemen, the Adjudication Knight Captain, and the elite Kingdom Knight Captain. They all gathered at the city wall, willingly following the Demon-Expelling Nun’s orders.
Papal Left Hand said to Samimi, “Nun, I think it’s better if you don’t stay on the wall. The Blood Ghosts have marked you; they’ll try their hardest to kill you. I think we should change position.”
“You’re the Church’s top assassin and the killer of Blood Ghosts. You can’t afford to expose your abilities easily,” Samimi replied, the same as before.
“True, I’m not an assassin but a guardian. Your Holy Flame is more powerful than mine, and you can detoxify and heal, which makes you more important to the team than I am,” Papal Left Hand said.
“I understand,” Samimi nodded. “You know what’s going on; the Blood Ghosts know too.”
“Then why are you still standing here?” the Azure Moon Rampaging Dragon asked.
“Nun Little Nun, you should step back a little. Let us handle this,” the Adjudication Knight Captain urged.
“I want them to come for me,” Samimi replied resolutely.
“Why?” the Adjudication Knight Captain asked.
“Because that will lower the others’ combat pressure. I’m sure everyone has witnessed the Blood Ghosts’ hunting style—it’s impossible to fully defend against them. If last night the Blood Ghosts had wanted to kill, we might have lost several people. But their choice to lurk was to find the chance to take me out, so no one else gets hurt. I will hold the line; the Blood Ghosts will focus on me, and everyone else will be much safer,” Samimi answered nobly.
Wow! That reply was truly moving!
All the Knights present felt deeply touched and inspired.
Against those stealthy undead and Blood Ghosts, their experienced old Knights and strategists used the same method they had against the Kingdom Knights—acting first, analyzing later.
They were silently grateful and knew they must repay this favor.
“That sounds so good…” Even Director General Mei Shan Yaolin was impressed. She had been quite resentful before but was now speechless.
Demon-Expelling Nun required no further introduction.
“I understand what you mean, but if you hold on alone too long, something will happen. You need to share the burden. If you falter, what will we do? You should rest and relax first,” Papal Left Hand said.
“You’re right, sir. I’ll rest a bit,” Samimi pretended to be tired but wasn’t acting overly sentimental, quickly retreating to rest.
She was acting perfectly—the performance done, she could now go enjoy herself.
Besides resting on the city wall, there was also a supporting little courtyard behind the wall, home to the Guan Tribe’s kind workers.
It was actually a small village. Besides residences, it had a grocery store and a tavern, stocked with plenty of food.
Nobody knew why the Blood Clan’s Otherworld contained normal food. If asked, the answer was that it was just game design. This place was a projection of the real world, directly replicating the outside environment. It was just weird like that.
The National Tomb was also there to protect this small village and the Noble Castle.
Of course, there were also deep baths.
In such a terrifying mental environment, everyone’s psychological pressure was high. But a young beauty like herself couldn’t just scream or shout to relieve stress.
So bathing was the best way for young beauties to reduce stress and raise morale.
“Come on, Big Niubao, let’s go bathe,” Samimi naturally knew this and dragged Niubao straight to the bath.
