The door was pushed open, and the girl’s eyes betrayed her eager anticipation for their reunion, mixed with a strange, unexplainable unease, as they met a pair of puzzled eyes.
A man with blond hair…?
In an instant, her mood plummeted to rock bottom.
The blond-haired, blue-eyed man looked at her with confusion and spoke in imperfect Chinese, “Classmate, don’t run around during class.”
Xunian was certain she had just seen the Duke’s Daughter’s back, but… what was going on?
She glanced behind the blond man; the corridor was still completely empty.
Could she really have been mistaken?
Dazed, Xunian turned around, and before she fully registered what was happening, Shen Mosi had already pulled her back into her seat.
The man with golden hair and deep, sharp features stepped onto the podium and gave everyone a smile, then began introducing himself in English.
The Players looked uneasy. They could barely catch the introduction, but this was a physics class—how much would they understand later on…?
“In this class, we are going to talk about Newton’s laws……”
Xunian saw Shen Mosi bow her head and take notes diligently, looking very focused. Curious, she leaned over to take a look.
In the notebook was a vivid drawing of a girl, long hair draped over her shoulders, a sweet face, quietly sitting in her seat listening to the class.
It was a portrait of Xunian.
She was speechless, and an unavoidable warmth blossomed in her heart, soon followed by a wave of distress.
She was almost certain that the figure she saw outside was the Duke’s Daughter’s back.
The difference between a male and female silhouette was too obvious—how could she have been mistaken?
Feeling uncomfortable, the dream from last night replayed in her mind. The anger in the Duke’s Daughter’s eyes had caused her heart to ache for a long time.
She would rather have the Duke’s Daughter come out now and punish her, than just give her a cold back.
Was she angry?
Her mind was a mess. She resolutely decided not to care about anyone anymore.
From now on, she would lock away her feelings and become a ruthless clue-finding machine.
After all, clearing the game was the most important thing.
Shen Mosi boredly continued to draw, suddenly sensing the atmosphere beside her turn cold, as if the temperature dropped a degree.
She shivered, feeling a bad premonition.
What was wrong with her deskmate?
The foreign professor on the podium spoke smoothly, as if this was just a normal physics class.
Just when the Players thought today would finally be a normal class without any strange gods or demons showing up, the physics teacher suddenly said,
“From now on, students can be divided into groups to complete the class homework.”
“Bang!”
The desks in front suddenly collided with Qi Ye’s desk, making a loud noise that nearly made him jump.
The desks under Xunian and Shen Mosi’s arms began to shake. The two of them instinctively and silently slid towards the aisles on either side.
Just as they moved away,
“Bang!”
Their desks slammed together with the desks behind, locking tightly.
If they hadn’t dodged in time, they might have been hurt.
With Zhang San no longer blocking him, Ran Feng dodged much faster and instinctively slid his chair aside.
The collision crushed a body caught between the desks, which stood stiffly upright. Its vacant eyes were terrifying, and blood sprayed onto the desks.
Yuan Shen and Qi Dong weren’t so lucky. Qi Dong’s arm was caught. Yuan Shen pushed apart the two desks that trapped her, finally freeing her.
Qi Dong’s tears streamed down from the pain, her entire arm swollen with deep red bruises.
“Why didn’t you warn me?” she snapped, pounding Yuan Shen’s uninjured arm hard.
Yuan Shen was annoyed to no end, patience completely worn out. He shook her off,
“Enough already! Why do you always blame me?”
Feeling guilty, Qi Dong rolled her eyes at him and silently shut up.
The professor came down from the podium, placing experimental equipment on each desk—a slanting board, a wooden block, and a ruler.
Passing by Shen Mosi, he glanced at her a moment longer and sighed, “Wow.”
Shen Mosi fiddled with the equipment, ignoring the professor.
Once he left, she immediately moved next to Xunian, holding out the tools with a sweet smile,
“Deskmate, I don’t know how to do this. Can you teach me?”
Suddenly, the ruler floated up, reflecting a sharp gleam as it flew toward Shen Mosi’s neck from behind.
Xunian’s quick reflexes had her snatch the ruler midair. A strong pull came from the ruler, as if an invisible force was struggling with her to grab it and pulling her toward Shen Mosi.
Caught off guard, Xunian fell against Shen Mosi. A faint fragrance lingered at her nose, her heartbeat skipped, and the warmth of contact relaxed her body, making her reluctant to let go.
Suppressing the urge to keep hugging her, Xunian’s hand fought the air behind Shen Mosi for a long moment, finally snatching the ruler away and releasing her.
Xunian retreated back to her seat, only then noticing Shen Mosi’s face flushed an unnatural shade of red.
Her eyes were tightly shut, long lashes fluttering, seemingly waiting for something.
“……”
Xunian’s fists clenched.
She pinched Shen Mosi’s cheek hard.
“Ouch!” Shen Mosi opened her eyes, tearful and clutching her face, “That really hurts.”
“Let me see.”
Thinking she might have pinched too hard, Xunian gently lifted Shen Mosi’s hand and saw only a faint redness.
She let go with a scowl and turned aside to record the experiment data.
“Deskmate~”
Shen Mosi clung to her again, all sticky and clingy.
Xunian focused on the experiment, carefully recording each step in her notebook.
……
“Run!”
Meanwhile, Yuan Shen and Qi Dong’s experiment wasn’t going so smoothly. Invisible hands kept striking them with the experimental tools.
They moved their chairs darting around the classroom just to avoid the flying wooden boards chasing them, and the sharp rulers that occasionally grazed their skin.
If Newton saw this, he would probably rise from his coffin in anger.
Ran Feng watched their misfortune with glee, not noticing a sharp ruler aimed at his neck from behind.
“Ran Feng!” Qi Ye shouted.
Ran Feng sensed danger and reached back, only to be pierced in the palm.
The pain was like his hand was being stabbed through. He clutched it tightly in agony.
Xunian noted down the last piece of data.
The professor passed by and nodded approvingly.
Xunian stopped him and asked,
“Is this a public school or a private one?”
“Private school.”
“Which student studies best?”
The professor pronounced awkwardly,
“Shen Mosi.”
Shen Mosi had listened the entire time without saying a word.
“May I ask where this student is now?”
The moment Xunian asked, wisps of black mist began to rise from the professor’s body.
