Feeling guilty, Qi Dong rolled her eyes at him and silently shut up.

The professor came down from the podium, placing experimental equipment on each desk—a slanting board, a wooden block, and a ruler.

Passing by Shen Mosi, he glanced at her a moment longer and sighed, “Wow.”

Shen Mosi fiddled with the equipment, ignoring the professor.

Once he left, she immediately moved next to Xunian, holding out the tools with a sweet smile,

“Deskmate, I don’t know how to do this. Can you teach me?”

Suddenly, the ruler floated up, reflecting a sharp gleam as it flew toward Shen Mosi’s neck from behind.

Xunian’s quick reflexes had her snatch the ruler midair. A strong pull came from the ruler, as if an invisible force was struggling with her to grab it and pulling her toward Shen Mosi.

Caught off guard, Xunian fell against Shen Mosi. A faint fragrance lingered at her nose, her heartbeat skipped, and the warmth of contact relaxed her body, making her reluctant to let go.

Suppressing the urge to keep hugging her, Xunian’s hand fought the air behind Shen Mosi for a long moment, finally snatching the ruler away and releasing her.

Xunian retreated back to her seat, only then noticing Shen Mosi’s face flushed an unnatural shade of red.

Her eyes were tightly shut, long lashes fluttering, seemingly waiting for something.

Xunian’s fists clenched.

She pinched Shen Mosi’s cheek hard.

“Ouch!” Shen Mosi opened her eyes, tearful and clutching her face, “That really hurts.”

“Let me see.”

Thinking she might have pinched too hard, Xunian gently lifted Shen Mosi’s hand and saw only a faint redness.

She let go with a scowl and turned aside to record the experiment data.
