“Calculate the area as homework. Submit it next class.”
He announced.
“Those who don’t submit,” Scarface Teacher revealed a sinister smile on his scarred, battered face, “will bear the consequences themselves.”
“Bang!”
The scarred Mathematics Teacher strode off, coming and going in a hurry.
Everyone secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Yuan Shen whispered something into Qi Dong’s ear.
Qi Dong’s expression shifted slightly, and she beckoned Zhang San over, then pointed toward the door.
Zhang San glanced at the people nearby. Ran Feng cast a dark, uncertain look at him. “What are you doing?”
Zhang San shook his head at Qi Dong.
Yuan Shen pulled Qi Dong to her feet, and they headed for the door.
They opened it together, peered outside, found no danger, and then stepped out one after another.
Xunian closed her textbook, her gaze falling on the corner of her desk where several words were carved with a knife:
At night, crying can be heard from the First Floor Girls’ Restroom. Don’t go.
Looks like a visit is inevitable.
The clues are all here; there’s no way to avoid it.
Xunian jotted down the information and scratched out the carved words with her dagger.
But… recalling the earlier contraction of the wall when she tried not to enter the classroom, she still hadn’t figured out if she could leave the classroom now.
Her seat was close to the door. A rough estimate showed the chain was long enough for her to approach the door and observe outside.
Xunian walked to the door, faint voices coming from outside.
Yuan Shen’s low voice carried through, “…That Shen Mosi…”
Xunian hesitated just as she was about to open the door, then pricked up her ears.
“She’s been dead for so many years, and this Shen Mosi doesn’t look like her. Don’t overthink it.”
“Yeah, it’s all in the past,” Qi Dong sighed.
They knew a deceased person named Shen Mosi?
What a coincidence.
A trace of surprise flickered in Xunian’s usually calm eyes as she glanced back and met a pair of starlit eyes.
Light fell on Shen Mosi, who raised her hand and shook the chain on her wrist. Her eyes surged with emotions Xunian couldn’t understand.
“Desk mate, you’re not allowed to run off, okay?”
Xunian’s eyelashes trembled.
Memories flashed through her mind like a movie rewind. At one moment, Shen Mosi’s figure overlapped with someone else’s.
Is she really not that someone?
Once a doubt arises, a seed of suspicion is planted in the heart.
“I’m going to the toilet. Want to come?”
Xunian invited.
“Sure.”
Xunian just asked casually, and Shen Mosi responded just as casually. After all, they were chained together—what else could she say?
Naturally, Shen Mosi linked her arm with Xunian’s as if they were very close friends.
Xunian let her hold on, even took her hand.
Soft fingers tentatively wrapped around hers. Shen Mosi’s heart skipped a beat but feigned calm and squeezed Xunian’s hand in return.
“What about the homework the teacher assigned? I’m a bit stuck. Desk mate, can you help me?”
Shen Mosi said worriedly.
Xunian noticed a faint flush at her ear.
She leaned close and whispered, “I finished it. You can just copy it.”
Shen Mosi happily shook her arm. “Desk mate, you’re so kind.”
Her ears reddened even more.
When they left, Yuan Shen and Qi Dong were nowhere to be seen.
Xunian chose a direction along the corridor and kept walking. Soon, she saw a door with a toilet sign.
“Ah———”
Before she could get closer, a sharp scream rang out.
