Chu Tian looked at the flowers in the little girl’s hands, his heart stirring slightly.
He stopped in his tracks, took a few silver coins from his purse, and bought a bouquet of vibrant, dew-kissed roses.
Su Nian noticed Chu Tian’s actions and frowned slightly, a sense of unease rising in her heart.
Why was Chu Tian suddenly buying flowers?
Was it just to help the little girl, or did he actually harbor some unrealistic fantasies about her?
However, she soon found out.
Chu Tian turned around with a smile and extended the roses toward Su Nian.
“Su Nian, these flowers are for you. I hope you like them,” he said, his eyes brimming with anticipation.
Compared to the roses he held, the young woman before him was far more beautiful and radiant.
Su Nian stared at the bouquet, her heart flustered.
Not because it was the first time she had been given flowers and she felt shy.
But because she knew she could never accept this man-yet if she outright refused his gift, what if it provoked him?
What if he turned hostile and exposed her deception in Flashlight Town to Magic Feather Fantasy?
But
She also knew that a firm rejection now would prevent further misunderstandings.
She couldn’t let Chu Tian nurture any false hopes.
Besides, accepting flowers from a man was just… too strange.
No matter how she thought about it, she couldn’t bring herself to do it.
What should she do?
Just then, the system notification chimed.
“Ding! Special task triggered: Accept Chu Tian’s flowers and express gratitude. Reward upon completion: 5,000 Humiliation Points.”
5,000 Humiliation Points!
That was no small amount.
Back in the Horned Demon’s domain, she could easily earn around 10,000 points a day.
But here in the Academy City, scraping together a few hundred daily was already a struggle.
Let alone a lump sum of 5,000.
Right now, she was only a few thousand points short of the 100,000 needed for the S-rank spells Illusory Flame Water Spirit Burst and Abyssal Flame Barrier.
Completing this task would bring her within reach.
In an instant, Su Nian’s wavering resolve tilted toward accepting the flowers.
Even if it would give Chu Tian the wrong idea…
S-rank magic was too important.
It was the key to whether she could advance to A-rank-the level of a Grand Archmage.
With just one S-rank spell purchased from the system, she was confident she could reach that tier of combat prowess.
After all, a single S-rank martial arts manual or grimoire was enough to make two factions fight to the death, willing to sacrifice thousands just to obtain it.
And now.
All she had to do was accept a bouquet from Chu Tian.
It was already an incredibly low price to pay.
Fine.
Compared to her slight discomfort and the risk of Chu Tian getting the wrong idea, power was far more crucial!
She had a nagging feeling that Horned Demon was up to something—who knew when it might reappear by her side?
So she desperately needed to strengthen herself.
Having decided on her course of action, Su Nian turned to Chu Tian, feigned delight, and took the flowers, giving them a delicate sniff.
“Wow, these are so beautiful! Chu Tian, you’re so thoughtful. Thank you for the flowers,” she said, forcing out the insincere words despite her discomfort.
“Ding! Task completed: Accept Chu Tian’s flowers and express gratitude. Reward: 5,000 Humiliation Points.”
Hearing the confirmation, Su Nian finally let out a quiet sigh of relief.
It seemed earning Humiliation Points wasn’t going to be easy after all.
Chu Tian had just begun when he noticed Su Nian’s hesitation.
He initially thought she might refuse, but to his surprise, the girl before him actually accepted the bouquet of flowers.
However, his joy was short-lived….
“Ding! Absorbed disdainful emotions. Annoyance points +12.”
It’s fine…
it’s fine!
At least Su Nian accepted his flowers.
Though she might disdain him a little, maybe it’s because he didn’t say enough, or perhaps the flowers weren’t pretty enough?
“I’m almost there, so I’ll head off first. See you tomorrow at the Magic Feather Fantasy Dream,” Su Nian said, holding the bouquet in one hand while waving goodbye with the other.
“Alright, see you,” Chu Tian replied cheerfully.
At that very moment.
Su Nian’s system chimed again with a notification.
“Ding! Daily task triggered.”
“Daily Task: Say goodnight to Chu Tian before you 0/1. Reward: 500 Humiliation Points upon completion.”
Current Humiliation Points: 97,247
Su Nian bit her lip as she stared at the system prompt, clearly conflicted.
Damn it!
This wretched system had her completely figured out.
Though 500 Humiliation Points weren’t much, this was a daily task she could complete every day.
Plus, she was already close to the 100,000 needed to purchase an S-rank spell.
And…
It’s just saying goodnight to a colleague, right? It shouldn’t be a big deal…
Surely it wouldn’t be misunderstood…
Ahem.
Looking at it now, of course it would be misunderstood!
Tonight, not only had she treated Chu Tian to dinner as thanks, but she also accepted his flowers and was now taking the initiative to say goodnight.
But there was no other choice.
Sorry, Brother Chu Tian.
You’ll just have to be sacrificed once more.
When she advances to Saint Magus and establishes her dominion, she’ll remember you, good brother!
She definitely won’t let you down, Chu Tian!
At that moment.
From Chu Tian’s perspective, Su Nian, holding the bouquet, was about to enter the inn when she suddenly turned back, somewhat bashfully approaching him.
Then…
The girl before him stood on her tiptoes and whispered softly to him.
“Goodnight, Chu Tian.”
Her deep, lake-like eyes gazed gently at him, her moist lips parting as the sound of her voice, like a babbling brook, reached his ears.
In an instant.
Chu Tian felt as if something had struck him, his heartbeat suddenly accelerating.
Quickly regaining his composure, he replied.
“Goodnight, Su Nian.”
“Daily Task: Say goodnight to Chu Tian before you 1/1. Reward: 500 Humiliation Points.”
Current Humiliation Points: 97,747
Hearing the system’s chime, Su Nian hurriedly made her escape.
The atmosphere was too awkward-she couldn’t stand it for another second.
Yet.
To Chu Tian, Su Nian, after accepting his flowers and saying goodnight, had blushed and skipped away… into the inn.
The girl before him was clearly shy.
She accepted his flowers and even took the initiative to say goodnight-could it be she really had feelings for him?
Perhaps she had already fallen for him back in Flash Town.
For a moment, Chu Tian was ecstatic.
This was promising!
Really promising!
The scenario he had fantasized about might just come true.
To the public, he was the captain of the guard protecting the magical girl idol Su Nian, but in secret, they were actually lovers.
This kind of development was absolutely fantastic!
The next moment.
Chu Tian arrived at a secluded corner where no one could see him.
Activating his S-rank [Dark Supreme] ability, his body transformed into black mist as he followed Su Nian into the hotel.
He wanted to see what expression and attitude Su Nian would show in private after leaving him.
Perhaps…
Joy, nervousness, or relief at finally receiving the flowers he’d given her?
However, just as Chu Tian followed Su Nian into the hotel…
“Thud-“
The Su Nian before him casually tossed the rose in her hand into the trash bin.
tbh this novel is kind of hilarious with it misunderstanding, but the mc kind of dumb sometime. The mc is a transmigrator and a man, so “she” should know how it feel like to be play by woman especially when he was in the modern time when those types of things are kind of common, “she” should have just made up a sob backstory to get revenge on the demon that “kill” “her” family memebers or something so “she” counldnt respond to his feeling and stay as friend (friendzone his ass). “She” know full well that he have the hot for her and could be 1 of those stalker type to go through 32 city just to be “her” guard. Especially when he the head of the security for her, if “she” keep playing him like this “she” could get the oshi no ko treatment. As reader we know the mc just thought this guy are just some random dude and could be used but still. So painful watching that guy go though all that and kind of funny as the same time.
At this point I feel really bad for Chu Tian man smh
