“Impossible,” she said.
Lando’s military knife remained steady, so close to Ning Xi’s neck that the slightest inch closer would leave a bloody mark.
Upon hearing this, 007’s expression flickered.
Before he could utter another word, Lando unleashed her magic without a hint of politeness, a tidal wave of power crashing over him.
The swirling winds around them were instantly dispelled, leaving 007 too astonished to utter a single syllable.
“Apologies for the intrusion,” he muttered, instinctively bowing and retreating towards the door with a respectful gait.
The oppressive aura Lando exuded was more terrifying than that of the middle-aged bald leader who had once berated him across a long conference table, forcing him to involuntarily back away.
Ning Xi, who was closest to Lando, felt the weight of her formidable presence even more acutely, her legs going weak for a moment.
The shadow Lando had already cast over her grew even darker.
“Be mindful not to harm this one. She possesses something that will pique your interest,” came a voice.
“I am aware,” Lando replied, her gaze fixed on the source of Ning Xi’s magical core.
She could sense the dark magic through layers of concealment, a mix of emotions welling up inside her.
It was the dark magic from the Witch of Desire, a fragment of her core.
That witch was supposed to have been obliterated, yet here was her core, still intact.
The Combat Division had deceived her from the start.
But this also meant there was still a chance to see that person again.
The cleanup crew arrived swiftly, and the unrest in City B was temporarily quelled.
Ning Xi was escorted to the café, where Tang Nai interrogated her alone.
Across the street from the café, two figures stood out starkly against the surroundings.
“Finally here. Those idiots caused the public transport to shut down. My feet are killing me. How about you, Motes?”
The girl in a sporty jacket brushed away the bright yellow strands of hair sticking to her cheek from sweat, stretching her lithe form as she looked at the silent white-haired girl beside her.
“My feet have always hurt. They ache terribly,” Motes said, hugging herself with a troubled look in her pale pink eyes.
Her slender arms were almost completely hidden beneath her ample bust, a testament to the toll the walk had taken on her.
“Huh? Why didn’t you say something earlier? We could have taken a bike,” the other girl said.
“But I don’t know how to ride one,” Motes replied, lowering her head.
She could feel the sharp pain in her toes, even if she couldn’t see them past her ample chest.
Had they not heard that the offending individual had been captured, they wouldn’t have rushed here so urgently.
Lemon, sensing the heavy resentment emanating from Motes, playfully patted her shoulder.
“Don’t worry, I’ll teach you how to ride later. Let’s head to the café to meet with Tang Nai first.”
“Alright,” Motes agreed.
Su Mu was comfortably lounging in the sofa area with Miti, watching TV and letting her body recover from its exhaustion.
After being possessed by Irina, her limbs felt weak and listless.
Fortunately, she had a magic storage device to help her make it here.
Lando had initially planned to carry her, but being paraded around on someone’s shoulders would have been too embarrassing.
“Multiple areas in City B were attacked by strange individuals, but thanks to the timely intervention of the magical girls Miti and Lando, casualties were greatly reduced, and the disaster was nipped in the bud,” the news on the screen reported.
Miti suddenly pointed excitedly at the blazing fire on the screen and said to Su Mu, “Look, Su Mu, I single-handedly propped up the entire building.”
Su Mu weakly clapped her hands.
“Impressive, impressive…”
“Hey, you’re being sarcastic. Watch out, or I’ll tickle your armpits!”
“Don’t, I don’t have the strength right now.”
Seeing Su Mu’s deflated state, Miti pouted, losing her enthusiasm.
The only thing that could lift Su Mu’s spirits now was the news of the school being closed.
Due to Ning Xi’s unique ability, most people became weak after losing control, and Su Mu couldn’t help but wonder if it was because of that Siren woman that she felt so drained.
In the infirmary where Su Mu had been electrocuted by Tang Nai last time, the culprit was now tightly strapped to the bed.
The taut straps accentuated her shapely figure and charm, but the gray-haired girl beside the bed remained as calm as ever, unaffected by the situation.
“I had only just escaped from the research institute. The combatants have been searching for me, so I had no choice but to seek refuge with the Monster Association. I don’t know anything else,” she said.
“Don’t know? Then I’ll have to ask the part of you that belongs to the witch,” Tang Nai replied, pinching the probe she had used to electrocute Su Mu earlier.
Under Ning Xi’s terrified gaze, she thrust it fiercely into her abdomen.
A violent surge of magic coursed through Ning Xi’s body, causing her to clench her teeth and tremble uncontrollably.
Her magical core resisted with all its might, but it was inevitably enveloped.
In the next moment, Tang Nai slightly increased the output, and the raging magical current grew even more intense.
It finally shattered the last line of defense around the core, stimulating the dark part within that belonged to the witch.
The dark magic, sensing the intrusion, roared like a lion patrolling its territory, lunging into the surging magical currents.
Ning Xi’s expression contorted with pain, her dark eyes growing deeper, and her previously restrained limbs began to struggle with renewed strength.
The dark magic, now intermingled with the rest, spread like a drop of ink in a vat of water, spreading turbidity to every corner.
How unsatisfying.
What was this woman doing?
Just electrocuting her?
Since she had already tied her up, why was she doing these pointless things?
Why didn’t she use her fingers to do something already!
Ning Xi’s consciousness faded completely, replaced by the “Witch of Desire.”
“Hey, finally decided to show up. Pity the core isn’t quite complete; you still seem a bit delirious.”
“Hehe, hehehe.”
Seeing Ning Xi’s unrestrained smile, Tang Nai released the magical probe.
This outcome was a great disappointment.
It seemed unlikely that she would get any useful information out of her.
But at the very least, she had to ensure that this person, who had seen Classmate Irina, wouldn’t say anything she shouldn’t.
“Tell me, do you remember the pink-haired magical girl?”
Ning Xi, who had just moments ago been completely unresponsive, immediately fell silent upon hearing the key phrase in Tang Nai’s words.
Her eyes cleared significantly.
She instinctively wanted to nod but instead began shaking her head frantically, as if her left brain was attacking her right.
“Wow, cognitive lock, well done, Irina. When Motes sees you later, I’ll put in a good word to spare you some unnecessary pain.”
