The next morning.
Eileen and Lillian quickly finished their breakfast.
Both Eileen and Lillian were full of anticipation.
After hearing last night that Lillian would be allowed out tomorrow, Eileen immediately found the head maid to request her Free Days.
The count’s manor maids each had four Free Days every month.
Eileen really wanted to go out and buy something.
She hadn’t spent any of the money she earned working as a maid at the manor yet.
Lillian was just as eager; she had many things she wanted to do.
Today, Elenora specifically asked Eileen to help her dress, not allowing Lillian to assist, which made Lillian feel a bit disappointed.
But it seemed unnecessary to deliberately gain more experience with Elenora now—hadn’t she already achieved her goal?
Maintaining her relationship with Elenora was enough.
Once Elenora was dressed, she looked at Lillian with a complicated expression.
Although she had promised Lillian freedom to come and go, Elenora still couldn’t fully relax.
From a small drawer in the dressing table, Elenora took out an exquisitely crafted silver Kohen Family Crest badge, featuring an eagle with two crossed longswords beneath its talons.
She handed the badge to Lillian.
“…Take this.”
After learning last night that the Crown Prince would come to apologize, Elenora felt reassured.
The Crown Prince taking the initiative to admit fault was a signal; he was bowing to her, so there was no need to worry about the nobles anymore.
In other words, no one in the entire capital now dared to threaten Lillian.
As for that man in the black robe, Elenora had already sent people to investigate, but based on previous interactions, he likely posed no threat.
“This is the Count’s manor badge. It means you’re part of the Kohen family… Except for important places like the Palace, you can go wherever you want in the capital,” Elenora said quickly before turning away. “Just… don’t cause me any trouble. Don’t disgrace the Kohen family.”
“And don’t stay out too late…”
“Mm.”
“If… if anything happens, come back immediately! Got it?”
“Mm-hmm.” Lillian nodded vigorously.
“Thank you, Mistress.” Lillian smiled gratefully.
“Hmph~ Good to hear,” Elenora’s lips twitched into a small smile. “The Crown Prince will come today. If he’s still here when you return this afternoon, you don’t need to come find me.”
“Understood.” Lillian and Eileen quickly responded.
Nothing else happened after that.
The two returned to their room to change into light casual clothes and then headed toward the main gate.
Lillian didn’t bring anything; she planned to have anything she bought delivered directly.
Eileen, however, carried a small basket, saying she wanted to pack some snacks.
The scenery in the Inner District was strikingly different from the Outer District.
The morning here lacked the Outer District’s clamor. Occasionally, a few horse-drawn carriages passed by, their wheels clattering against the cobblestone streets.
Not far off, squads of knights patrolled, and the bells of the Great Cathedral rang in the distance.
After about ten minutes, the two arrived at the gate marking the border between the Inner and Outer Districts.
The guards stopped them, instinctively stepping forward to question them.
Wearing such ordinary clothes in the Inner District usually meant being commoners from outside, which often led to trouble.
Lillian pulled out the silver badge.
The tall guard immediately recognized the Kohen Family Crest, and his demeanor changed to one of respect.
He took a step back, placed a hand over his chest, and bowed.
“Please pass, Miss Kohen.”
The gate slowly opened.
The two stepped outside, sunlight from the Outer District bathing Lillian’s face.
A cool breeze brushed through her hair, and the familiar sounds of bustling streets reached her ears.
After spending so long in the manor, hearing these noises somehow made Lillian nostalgic—even pleasant.
This feeling was entirely different from previous shopping trips.
It was the feeling of freedom! Freedom!
Woohoo!
Lillian closed her eyes, savoring the moment.
Since awakening her memories, she had never felt this relaxed.
It was as if all the pressure she’d accumulated had been swept away.
“Let’s go, Eileen. There’s so much to do today.”
“Coming, coming.”
Instead of taking Eileen to their usual market street, Lillian led her to a slightly more secluded Medicinal Commercial Street.
Ordinary training only gave one experience point, so Lillian planned to dedicate one day a week to training, three days to studying magic with Elenora, one day to healing Ophelia, and the remaining two days to exploring the Outer District.
She still remembered some of the smaller events in the capital from the game and knew there were many good items to find.
Lillian intended to strengthen herself a bit, and since her healing medicines were almost used up, she came here to restock.
Also, Ophelia had said she was under a lot of stress, so Lillian needed to find some herbs to make soothing potions or incense.
“Sniff sniff, the smell of herbs is so strong here,” Eileen said in awe.
“It’s a shop dedicated to medicinal herbs, so of course the smell’s strong.”
Surrounded by the familiar aroma of herbs, Lillian felt like she was home.
She expertly slipped into an old shop without a signboard.
“Old Barton, I’m here!”
“Whoa, little Lillian! You haven’t come by for a whole month; I thought something happened.” Behind the counter, an elderly man with graying hair looked up, pushing his glasses up his nose with a delighted expression upon seeing her.
“It’s a long story. I need some things. Do you have them in stock?”
Lillian slapped her shopping list onto the counter.
Old Barton took the list, squinting as he carefully scanned through it. “Almost everything is here, but the Star Glow Grass powder is out of stock lately…”
Star Glow Grass was one of the key ingredients for making calming potions, so being out of stock meant tomorrow’s visit to Ophelia might be tricky.
Lillian frowned.
Wait…
“The second shelf, the jar labeled ‘Blue Flower Powder’—that should be it.”
“Really?” Old Barton walked over, opened the jar, sniffed, and pinched the powder, finally confirming after a long moment that he’d indeed made a mistake. “Heh heh, I guess I’m getting old, didn’t even notice.”
After unlocking the [Body] rune seal, Lillian’s senses had sharpened considerably.
She definitely wouldn’t have noticed this before.
“Lillian, how did you know?” Eileen asked curiously.
“Blue Flower Powder tastes sweet; Star Glow Grass is cool and crisp, like mint…”
“Ohhh.” Eileen didn’t understand but was impressed, feeling proud of Lillian.
“Old Barton, please deliver the items on the list to the Kohen Count’s manor.”
“Oh… What!? The Kohen Count’s manor? Oh my, little girl, that’s impressive! So you’re the Private Physician now? Your parents truly have a worthy successor.”
“Ahaha, just lucky, just lucky,” Lillian chuckled, tacitly acknowledging her role as Private Physician.
She felt odd letting old acquaintances know she was working as a maid.
“Goodbye, Old Barton.” Lillian waved, then turned to urge the curious Eileen, who was still looking around at the herbs. “Let’s go, Eileen.”
There was still much to do.
Lillian had not forgotten the man in the black robe.
Fortunately, she knew where to find related information.
