Roswither barely withstood the soul-rending agony and weakness as her staff pointed toward the rampaging demon.
Several thick chains composed of pure holy light, inscribed with sacred runes, materialized out of thin air, coiling around Heinrich’s massive demonic form like giant serpents!
The chains hissed sharply as they touched the demon’s scorching, hellish carapace, the sacred light visibly corroded and dimmed, but they successfully restrained the demon’s movements, causing its claw swipes and fiery breath to falter!
“Irene!” Regilith barked sharply, her eyes sharp as an eagle’s.
Irene bit her lip hard, her golden eyes locked unwaveringly on the demon radiating the aura of destruction.
Though she had no offensive power, her Miracle Weaver talent was crucial in this moment!
Every blessing was cast upon her teammates, maximizing their evasion, critical strike chance, and weak-point attacks, aiming to deliver a fatal blow!
Regilith exhaled softly, the holy light flickering along her sword’s blade!
Her body instantly became a silver streak tearing through the air, wrapped in sacred radiance. The blade erupted with an unprecedented brilliance of holy light, the tip concentrated with the piercing chill of hell and the purifying power of divinity, slashing toward Heinrich’s throat.
She believed in Irene—if her strike hit the vital spot and landed an absolute critical, it could defeat the demon before her!
Heinrich sensed the lethal threat; his blazing claws, imbued with the force to crush mountains, tore through the air, aiming ferociously at Regilith!
Before the claw struck, the suffocating heat of the hellish aura itself was enough to choke anyone nearby!
Lilith’s sharp shout cut through the air as crimson waves of magical energy surged forth. She instantly accelerated to triple speed, her form like a comet veering in from the side, striking Heinrich’s flank and causing the demon’s attempt to respond to Regilith’s attack to falter.
Regilith raised her shield to block Heinrich’s “unstable” claw, the sword’s blade bursting with a sanctity as dazzling as the sun!
The blade, precise to the utmost degree and bearing the will to sever all evil, plunged deep into Heinrich’s throat!
The blade pierced flesh! Accompanied by terrifying cracks as the holy energy burned the demonic flesh and the icy power froze blood and bone! The overwhelming sacred light and freezing force flooded into the wound like a scalding iron pressed against ice!
Critical hit, weak-point attack—the two statuses sounded together! Heinrich staggered violently, his body riddled with gaping wounds!
“Ughhhh—!!!”
Heinrich let out a piercing, ear-splitting scream!
His flesh was instantly torn apart, frozen, and crushed! Thick, foul-smelling demonic blood gushed uncontrollably like a broken fountain, turning into a rank black smoke under the holy light’s burning touch!
The demon’s massive body staggered back in agony, its last remaining left claw wildly raking the air.
“Now! Helga!” Regilith shouted fiercely, pressing the attack relentlessly as her swordlight flowed, targeting the demon’s exposed neck vulnerable from its agony!
“Comet: Azrael!”
Helga had long been ready. Her staff erupted with dazzling deep blue light! She poured all her magic into a thick elemental shockwave! Shouting loudly, her magical radiance engulfed the entire Heinrich!
Heinrich tried to dodge and escape the unrelenting magical onslaught!
Yet, years of teamwork allowed Roswither to respond swiftly. The glow of the Divine Shackles flared again, binding the struggling demon tightly!
Irene’s Miracle Weaver power activated once more—every damage Helga dealt now carried guaranteed critical and weak-point effects!
Heinrich’s wails of agony told everyone how fast his health was disappearing!
Though abyssal demons possessed high resistance to magic, even with every strike hitting and dealing devastating damage, it still wouldn’t kill Heinrich outright!
But demons had negative resistance to holy light.
Thanks to years of perfect teamwork, the immobilized Heinrich could no longer evade Regilith’s fatal strike!
“In the name of the Holy Light!”
The paladin raised her sword before her chest, holy light swirling along the blade!
With her slashing motion came a divine column of light piercing through heaven and earth, carrying the overwhelming celestial power to cleanse all filth—a judgment blade tearing through space itself, sweeping unhindered across the demon Heinrich’s thick, heavily armored neck!
Time seemed to freeze in this moment.
That grotesque head, aflame with hellfire and roaring wildly, froze with shock and disbelief as the holy sword’s light severed it from the massive body, sending it soaring into the sky!
The headless, enormous demonic form stiffened for a moment before collapsing like a mountain stripped of all support, crashing down with a roar of dust and stinking black blood! The thick demon blood flowed like a filthy stream, instantly blackening the scorched earth.
The battlefield fell into dead silence.
Only the crackling of flames and the groans of the wounded remained.
Yet, the demon head that had tumbled onto the scorched soil suddenly twisted into a grotesque, mocking grin filled with endless ridicule. It emitted broken, wheezing laughter like an old, leaky bellows:
“Ho, hoho, fools… pitiful… insects, you… think… this is the end…?”
“Time… delayed… enough… Your… true… doom… has… arrived…”
“The great… master… has already… completed… the final… ritual, ho, hoho…”
The laughter abruptly stopped, and the flames on the demon head extinguished completely, turning it into a hideous charred stone.
A pressure heavier, older, and more soul-freezing than the arrival of an abyssal demon descended like an invisible titan weighing billions of tons, crushing everyone’s breath and weakening their knees!
The earth trembled and mountains shook.
The entire Holy City—no, the entire mountain range supporting the Holy City—began to violently quake and groan, as if a colossal beast that had slumbered for eons, capable of shaking the continental plates, was being forcibly awakened!
Irene and the others jerked their heads upward, their hearts nearly leaping from their chests, eyes fixed on the highest part of the burning Holy City’s wall, which now seemed like an altar.
There, against the backdrop of roaring flames and thick smoke, stood a figure clad in ornate, though tattered, papal robes and wearing a triple crown of thorns symbolizing supreme authority—like a priestess of sacrifice, quietly upright.
At a glance, Irene recognized her as Pope Jerlor!
Her withered hands, raised with near-reverent solemnity, held high a short, seemingly plain staff that nevertheless shimmered with holy radiance in the dim light—
The staff’s shape unsettled Irene, and the posture it was held in, sleek and deliberate, suggested…
“In the name of eternal chaos! By the power of all things returning to silence! Awake! Guardian of the Holy City! Giant of Light! Purge this filthy world’s ultimate creation—‘Diga’!”
