In the forest outside the academy.
Two men hid among the trees, their eyes fixed toward the academy as if waiting for someone.
“Why haven’t those two come back yet? Could it be that Klein killed them?” one man asked, a trace of worry in his voice.
“Impossible. We already sent a letter to lure her out. Right now, there should only be that servant in the mansion.”
“Besides, those two were wearing our robes. Killing them would be like killing royal guards. Even if Klein is bold, he wouldn’t do something that reckless!”
“But… I heard that Her Highness the Princess might be there too.”
“Fool! Someone as delicate as the princess wouldn’t live with her! She must be staying somewhere else!”
“Also, we came by this afternoon. Besides Lola Belle Klein, no one else was around—not even the maid mentioned in her letter!”
“With a personality that reclusive, even if we suspect she’s hiding Magic Race things, we have reasonable grounds, hahaha!”
“That paladin didn’t mess up our plans when we were still in the kingdom. But today, he didn’t even give us face! Just because he’s riding on the name of the previous paladin Klein doesn’t mean he’s someone important!”
The man’s anger grew as he recalled the day’s events. His brows furrowed tightly, and the stubble on his lips bristled upward like wild spikes.
“If we can’t touch her because of her status, then we’ll strike at those around her!”
He sneered, the crooked yellow teeth glaring out of place against his white robes.
“That paladin kept mentioning her maid in the letters—seems like he’s really attached to her. I already told our men to humiliate that maid thoroughly!”
‘Swish, swish…’
The two were deep in conversation when suddenly a rustling sound came from above.
Both instantly looked up alertly but saw nothing.
Assuming it was just the wind, they resumed their chatter.
“Hey, I’ve got a great idea to piss that bastard off. When we get back, I’ll write a formal complaint to His Majesty. I’ll say the paladin is having an affair with that maid and ask him to lock up Lola Belle Klein for violating the Paladin Code!”
“She might be fine, but that maid won’t be so lucky. I’ll capture her under the pretense of atonement and hand her over to those lustful nobles. Haha, when Lola Belle Klein gets out, her face will probably be the same color as her hair!”
The two laughed loudly amid the trees. Suddenly, the strange rustling sound came again.
Thinking it was still just the wind, they ignored it.
Until a cold voice echoed from above…
“Did you say you want to hand someone over to the nobles?”
The words hit like ice. Their legs suddenly turned weak, and one of them collapsed to the ground, unable to get up.
The moon had risen.
Trembling, they looked up. Though the figure’s face was obscured, the pair immediately recognized her from the pure white wings and fiery red hair.
“You two sure made me work hard to find you.”
Her voice was cold, and in her blood-red eyes, a murderous intent flickered.
“Holy Paladin! What business do you have with us?” one man forced a calm tone.
His body shook slightly, and he didn’t dare meet Lola Belle’s gaze.
“Business, of course. Important business.”
“Impor—”
Before he could finish, Aurora drew the wooden sword from her waist.
She casually tossed the scabbard aside and raised the sword, pointing it at them.
“You! What do you think you’re doing?!”
Lola Belle didn’t rush to answer.
Her form slowly descended from the sky, and as her white wings touched the ground, she folded them back.
“I thought conflicts over work wouldn’t harm my sister…”
She said as she stepped closer to the men.
Her footsteps were heavy rather than graceful. Each step pressed by her armor left a dent in the earth.
And as she neared, dark fluid began to pool in each indentation, an ominous and terrifying aura leaking out and slowly enveloping the surroundings…
The men had never seen anything like this. The last trace of their composure was thoroughly eroded by fear. Like the other, the first man collapsed to the ground, crawling away in desperation.
“Don’t come closer!” the man shouted in terror.
But Lola Belle seemed possessed, speaking to herself as she gripped her sword tighter and tighter—nearly deforming the steel hilt.
“You hurt my sister and still dared to plot against her…”
Every word dripped with anger and killing intent, far fiercer and more terrifying than the fury she displayed on the battlefield against the Magic Race.
She seemed broken, her eyes covered in an indescribable black substance, her fiery pupils vanished, and even her red hair gradually darkened into purple.
“Unforgivable… unforgivable!!”
The wooden sword fell with a heavy thud. Accompanied by a scream, one man’s arm was severed.
“Ahhhh! You bastard! You can’t kill me! You can’t kill me!”
“I’m from the Elder Hall! Killing me will be your doom!”
He gritted his teeth through the pain, pulling the badge pinned to his robe and tossing it into the air.
It was a magical artifact unique to the Elder Hall. The magic circle on the back of the badge could record everything the bearer saw.
The other man, seeing this, quickly took off the badge on his chest and threw it into the air as well.
“You’re finished! Finished! Haha! The king will definitely lock you up, and as for your maid… I’ll enjoy her fully and then sell her off…”
‘Swish!’
Another strike landed, this time cutting off a piece of the man’s leg.
“Ahhh! How dare you?! The king will punish you severely! You can’t kill me!”
“So what if I see it?”
The two stared in disbelief at the woman before them.
She reached into her pocket and pulled out an identical badge, tossing it into the air.
“You… how do you have that thing?”
How could she not have it? The artifact was made by Tomi Sha of the Elder Hall. Misa was intimately familiar with its construction.
The one she just released was an improved version, faster than the badges the two men had thrown up, allowing it to reach the First Kingdom earlier.
Moreover, this upgraded version could record sound, not just images.
Every filthy word of their conversation had been recorded.
Such lewd and treasonous talk was punishable by death in the kingdom, and punishing criminals was one of Lola Belle’s duties.
