[Qi Demon Bureau].
A special Knight order secretly established by the Church.
They are actually former Demon-Hunting Nuns, secret demon hunters not officially recognized by the authorities. Their mission is to exterminate some incomprehensible Unknown Demons.
Therefore, the Demon-Hunting Knights are often sent on deadly and brutal missions, with an extremely high mortality rate among members. However, they have saved humanity from destruction many times and are rightful heroes.
Members who join such a team are usually orphans whose entire families were killed by demons. They do not seek fame or fortune; their hearts only burn with vengeance.
In the earlier parts of the story, the Demon-Hunting Knights were a bunch of crazed individuals—demon hunters who had gone mad themselves, even more demonic than demons.
But in the later stages of the story, having witnessed so much human suffering, they no longer obsess solely over revenge and killing but act for the greater cause of humanity’s survival.
Their final mission is to infiltrate the Demon Domain, sneak behind the Demon King’s army, enter an indescribable abyss, and carry out the assassination of the Demon King.
The outcome is predictable.
This team’s main character is actually only one person, as only one member survives from start to finish.
Moreover, she is the most popular character in the entire novel, killing off all her teammates and using every dirty trick to survive—also known as [The Lucky One Bound to Die].
Because by the time she reaches the end, all her teammates have died. Every few chapters sees a new batch of teammates introduced. You might fall in love with a new member this chapter, only for them to be dead in the next—leaving you furious enough to want to punch the author’s face flat.
This storyline’s hidden thread unfolds from the perspective of this “Only Survivor.”
So when the Demon-Hunting Knights appear before Samimi, it means the world’s difficulty is about to ramp up considerably.
“Finally, we’re entering the main storyline of Rose Fantasy Battle.”
As a light yuri fantasy novel, this kind of plot undoubtedly strips away some of its cute elements. It finally stops writing those childish stories rated twelve-plus and becomes a slightly hardcore sixteen-plus adventure story, which is certainly a step up from the usual cliché linear plots.
Because the plot is so cruel, the Demon-Hunting Knights are nicknamed the [Disaster Ash Squad].
But I, Samimi, don’t like dark, grim, and cruel stories. Although I am a flop novelist who writes dark, grim, and cruel stories, you have to experience it firsthand…
Then I definitely need to rewrite the script! I’m not an idiot!
In fact, Samimi just planted a plot bomb: the editor changed the Demon-Hunting Knights’ storyline into a cannon fodder squad.
The Demon-Hunting Knights usually operate in squads of around twenty, but only a few main characters matter—sometimes just one—and the other members are obviously cannon fodder.
This is a classic American-style monster horror movie trope: a squad of about twenty elite soldiers ventures into unknown territory to die.
The cannon fodder show off various dramatic ways to die, stimulating the audience’s senses with blood and gore, and in the end, only the main characters survive.
So Samimi decided to have the Demon-Hunting Knight leader bring only three members along. She doesn’t need so many, because anyone extra is guaranteed cannon fodder.
Taking a five-person squad means everyone is a main character.
She’s confident she can keep everyone alive. If there were more people, it’d be hard to say—her support magic would consume double the resources for every extra person, and right now she doesn’t have any perfect magical treasures on hand, so she can’t afford to be reckless.
Perfect plan. I’m too smart.
There are still a few days left, enough time to arrange everything.
“Countess, I just talked with the pastors. They said the Blood Recovery Potions I make have extra effects. What do you think? Also, do you know anything about the Church’s Happiness Association?” Samimi left the Little Chapel and found the Countess to report the news she’d just gotten from the Happiness Association.
“I haven’t heard of the Happiness Association, but there are countless organizations within the Church. Except for a few big names, who really knows what the people beneath them are doing?” The Countess admitted she didn’t know.
“Countess, do you have any ideas on how to sell my Blood Recovery Potions more aggressively?” Samimi asked.
“That’s simple. Since your Blood Recovery Potions are different from others, scarcity increases value. Why not just triple the price?” the Countess suggested.
“That’s a bit ruthless. Aren’t we afraid of making enemies by doing business like that?” Samimi complained.
“If you sell cheaply, you’ll make enemies. Other churches sell Blood Recovery Potions that don’t have your effects but at the same price. Who would still buy from them? You’re cutting off their income,” the Countess analyzed.
“Raising prices and making such a reasonable argument—I don’t even know how to refute that,” Samimi said.
“If you trust me,” the Countess said shyly in a low voice, “I can help you handle the business affairs. It will also lighten your workload—you won’t have to brew potions alone every day until you’re dizzy.”
“Then I’ll leave it to you.” Samimi was waiting for those words, handing over the business to her mother.
Anyway, her identity was already exposed. Everyone knew she was no ordinary person, so there was no point in hiding it anymore. She would directly become the noble’s daughter and legally earn big money.
The Countess certainly knew how to make money better than Samimi. Actually, the Countess’s rank wasn’t the highest noble title, but the power Lady Filin, Samimi’s mother, wielded was among the kingdom’s elite.
She was beautiful, could make money, spoke well, provided talent for the Saintess, served as the whip at the Three Princes’ Whip Ceremony—black, white, and gray factions all owed her respect.
“Then I’ll go back and plan.”
The Countess was delighted to have her daughter’s trust. Returning to her small herbal room, she picked up her notebook and began strategizing the big money plan for Samimi.
The next morning, as the Melon Guild just opened its doors.
The Countess pulled Samimi along to the place and summoned the Town Chief and all the innkeepers for a big meeting.
“Dear fellow townsfolk, good morning. Sorry to take up some of your time. Today I have a word to say, please listen carefully.”
The Countess began to ramble on about her money-making plan. Everyone held their breath and listened attentively; no one dared to complain or offer suggestions.
It wasn’t that everyone agreed with her business ideas, but everyone knew this noble lady’s identity was extraordinary—how could they not listen?
But as they listened, the merchants gradually grew a bit anxious.
Because they were all business people and could tell this noble lady really knew her stuff. She wasn’t some parachuted-in amateur leader coming to cause trouble.
Actually, the Countess’s entire meeting focused on one topic: upgrading low-end products to high-end.
She wanted to transform the originally low-grade Blood Recovery Potions into Adventurer’s Essential Divine Medicine, capable of saving lives on the battlefield.
Of course, this wasn’t nonsense. They had just received the Happiness Association’s product verification—basically proving they had been selling high-quality medicine at a loss.
The Melon Guild planned to build a processing factory to create exquisite packaging and processing for all enhanced Blood Recovery Potions, turning them into a well-known brand in the town!
