Student ID started working?
Chang Fei thought carefully and realized the teacher who handed him the student ID just now hadn’t actually returned it to him, had they?
Just as he was pondering this, a System Message suddenly popped up.
The ID showed the sender’s name as… Teacher Xiao?
Chang Fei’s head jerked up instinctively, glancing toward the door, but there was no sign of Teacher Xiao outside.
He had appeared behind him like a ghost, pushed him toward the A1, then vanished without a trace.
And now he was sending him a System Message?
This must be a message sent with System Administrator Privileges, right?
During class, a respectable teacher actually using System Administrator Privileges to send him a message?
Did he catch him slacking off during lessons?
Feeling a bit uneasy, Chang Fei clicked on the message.
It read: “The Student ID will be transmitted to your desk via the Da Luo Divine Tablet Temporal Artifact. Reach out and press the left side of your desk; the Student ID will appear from the desk.”
Damn, could you get any more high-tech?
Following Teacher Xiao’s instructions, Chang Fei pressed his hand on the left side of the desk, watching suspiciously to see if the Student ID would truly appear as described—and how did the other party even know what he was thinking at that moment?
Could it be that the other party was actually a legendary psychologist? Or did they possess some kind of mind-reading ability?
But considering their identity as an immortal, it all made perfect sense…
As he was thinking this, a groove formed on the desk surface, and the Student ID actually appeared, lying there perfectly still.
If Chang Fei weren’t an immortal himself, this would have to be magic—magic of a kind he absolutely couldn’t figure out.
Unless it had been set up from the start, knowing he would come today, and the props laid out in advance waiting for him to exploit.
But since Teacher Xiao had already revealed the secret from the beginning, Chang Fei didn’t need to overthink what kind of technique it really was.
When he took out the Student ID, another System Message popped up, again from Teacher Xiao, reminding Chang Fei to pay attention to the romantic progress between Le Zhengchu and Xu Yiqing.
After reading the message, Chang Fei couldn’t help but smirk, fully labeling Teacher Xiao as the all-knowing old immortal.
He opened the message from Xu Yiqing and read carefully, then sighed.
Xu Yiqing had only sent one sentence: “Chang Fei, do you have any relatives who look exactly like you?”
Scratching his cheek, Chang Fei narrowed his eyes and thought seriously before replying: “I don’t know.
My parents divorced when I was very young.
Custody was granted to my mother, but she disappeared when I was still small.
I was raised by relatives, and I’ve never heard of any relatives who look like me.”
“Oh…” Xu Yiqing quickly replied, attaching a thoughtful emoji.
Seizing the opportunity, Chang Fei feigned innocence: “Is something wrong?”
“No, nothing. Hello, my name is Leng Yiqing. I look forward to working with you from now on.” She sent a cute smiling face sticker.
Chang Fei could only reply with a smile emoji.
Then he opened Le Zhengchu’s message.
Le Zhengchu was asking: “Xiaofei? Second brother? Do you have any unknown things or questions?”
“Thanks, no.” Chang Fei replied with a sweating emoji and sent a screenshot of his Student ID number displayed on his screen to Le Zhengchu.
Student numbers were generally ranked based on scores; Chang Fei had entered as first in the exam, not just first among transfer students but also surpassing the highest scores of the school’s internal students.
His number was naturally the very first in the entire grade.
Second place belonged to a girl named Xue Hua, and third was nominally… or more accurately, his true blood elder brother, Le Zhengchu.
The scores between Le Zhengchu and Xue Hua differed by only two points, caused by Le Zhengchu accidentally filling in the wrong answer on one question.
Chang Fei didn’t want to analyze how Le Zhengchu could be so careless on such an obvious question.
But regardless of whether Le Zhengchu made a mistake, at least mentally, Chang Fei considered himself the genetically superior one.
Thinking so, Chang Fei’s nose couldn’t help but rise a little. Soon after, Le Zhengchu’s message came in: “Don’t be arrogant. As a member of the Le family, you must be humble, cautious, and persistent.”
Chang Fei raised an eyebrow but didn’t respond to Le Zhengchu’s lecture. Instead, he asked, “Le Zhengchu, how do you feel about Leng Yiqing?”
The reply was quick: “I’m being serious here. Why bring up someone else?”
“Answer one question and I’ll answer one. You know the intelligence department only shares information through exchange.” Chang Fei had the leader’s spirit of kill fox—he wasn’t going to lose out.
Le Zhengchu paused for a moment before replying: “Rank 32, Leng Yiqing?”
“Yes, that’s her. What do you think of her?” Chang Fei checked; the number was indeed 32 out of 60 students, a lower-middle ranking.
“Her grades need improvement.” Le Zhengchu gave a candid assessment typical of a former Student Council President.
Chang Fei immediately facepalmed, then pressed on, “What do you think of her personality?”
“No idea. I don’t know her well. She was mostly absent due to illness during middle school.” Le Zhengchu answered honestly.
Chang Fei was at a loss for words. That… was no foundation at all. Might as well ask Leng Xingliang! At least Leng Xingliang knew Leng Yiqing.
But… thinking about Leng Xingliang… no matter how you looked at it, it wouldn’t be appropriate. Though it wasn’t certain that Leng Xingliang was Leng Chenluo’s son, the brother-sister affection scenarios were a mess of broken relationships and messy love affairs. Chang Fei was unwilling to play matchmaker for siblings sharing the same surname Leng.
After some thought, Chang Fei decided to change tack: “Then what do you think of Xu Shaxue?”
“I’ve already answered two of your questions,” Le Zhengchu reminded him.
“I just answered one of yours.” Chang Fei was ready with a quick reply.
“When?” Le Zhengchu looked confused, not remembering any answer from Chang Fei.
Chang Fei stifled a laugh and replied, “Just now. You asked ‘Rank 32, Leng Yiqing?’ Didn’t that count as a question?”
“…It does.” The reply came, but with some reluctance.
Chang Fei didn’t care: “You can ask me one more question, and I’ll answer it, but you have to answer one more question of mine, too.”
“Alright.” Le Zhengchu agreed. He asked, “Everything about the recent events has been investigated and turned out to be a misunderstanding. Dad told you to come back to school. Why didn’t you listen to him?”
Chang Fei was taken aback and troubled… this really was a difficult question he couldn’t answer.
