Tuesday, seeing Mu Xi drop her weapon, a sneer of contempt appeared on his face.
He knew all along that this canary kept by the Manor had long had her will crushed and was utterly defenseless.
His heart relaxed even more, lowering his guard, and he quickened his pace, reaching out to grab Mu Xi.
Just as his hand was about to touch her, Mu Xi’s originally weak gaze suddenly sharpened intensely.
She abruptly lifted her foot and kicked hard against the ground.
From the very beginning, she had noticed that although the Underground Tunnel was solid, the edges along the walls were piled with soft loose soil.
Without mercy, she kicked directly into that pile of dirt.
“Poof!”
The scattered dirt burst into a cloud of dust.
It didn’t exactly fly into Tuesday’s face like in the movies, but it was enough to startle him.
Tuesday instinctively stopped, squinting his eyes slightly.
That momentary pause gave Mu Xi the chance to strike back.
She quickly bent down, grabbing a handful of soil with her left hand, while her right hand tightly gripped the knife on the ground.
In the dim light, Tuesday only saw Mu Xi bend down to pick up the obvious knife but didn’t notice what else she had grabbed with her other hand.
Alarmed, he realized the danger and immediately sped toward Mu Xi, intending to restrain her before she could stand up.
But Mu Xi was faster.
She didn’t bother straightening her body.
Instead, saving that second, she raised the soil in her hand.
The two were now very close, and Tuesday’s full attention was on her.
His eyes were wide open, and that sand would definitely obstruct his vision.
“Ah!”
Just as expected, Tuesday was hit; the dirt was flung over him, blinding his eyes painfully.
He couldn’t help but emit a painful howl.
He raised his hands to rub his eyes and instinctively retreated slightly.
Seizing this perfect opportunity, Mu Xi suddenly stood up, choosing not to engage in close combat, but instead threw the dining knife without hesitation.
At such close range, for Mu Xi, it was almost a guaranteed hit.
“Thud!”
The blade pierced accurately into Tuesday’s abdomen with a muffled sound.
Tuesday’s burly body trembled violently.
He clutched the wound, letting out a muffled groan of pain.
He looked at Mu Xi in disbelief, his eyes filled with pain and anger.
Mu Xi didn’t hesitate.
She picked up the fork from the ground, flicked her wrist, and readied to throw it again.
Tuesday was indeed scared out of his wits.
He raised both hands like a rattle drum to guard his head and retreated wildly, like a frightened groundhog — awkward and miserable.
Having just suffered from the flying knife, he wouldn’t dare catch Mu Xi’s weapons barehanded now.
However, the imagined sharp whistling sound never came.
Cautiously lowering his arms, he peeked through his fingers, only to see a sly smile curl on Mu Xi’s lips — nowhere to be seen was the fragile, helpless image.
Only then did he realize he had been fooled again by this little girl.
A burst of rage shot from his feet to his head.
Just as he was about to curse, Mu Xi’s petite figure launched like an arrow, filled with resolute determination, rushing fiercely at him.
Mu Xi’s slender body seemed to contain incredible explosive power.
She leapt forward, clutching the fork tightly with both hands, the sharp tines aimed at Tuesday’s exposed neck, plunging down fiercely.
She knew well that in terms of brute strength, she was no match for a man like Tuesday, but combined with the downward momentum, her body weight, and the fork’s sharp tip, she could definitely inflict a fatal wound!
Tuesday was still reeling in shock, retreating in panic with a blank mind, never expecting Mu Xi to be so daring — nor that she would take such a near-suicidal approach.
The cold fork tip pierced precisely through skin, tearing muscle with ease, sinking deep into his flesh.
A searing pain instantly spread through his whole body.
“Ugh—!”
Tuesday let out a scream like a slaughtered pig, sharp and piercing, hardly the sound of a hulking man.
It was more like a rooster stepping on its tail — shrill and ridiculous.
Like being electrocuted, he clutched his neck and staggered backward.
Bright red blood gushed uncontrollably like a fountain, instantly staining his large hands and chest.
Mu Xi’s strike landed.
Without lingering, she quickly withdrew the fork and stabbed hard again into the same bleeding hole.
Only when she saw Tuesday painfully collapse to his knees, slumping like a heap of mud, did she step back swiftly, putting a safe distance between them.
Tuesday clutched his bleeding neck, twitching painfully.
The blood flowed like a faucet left open, pouring out between his fingers, staining the ground beneath into a glaring Blood Pool.
Those once pure, childlike eyes were now filled with pain, anger, and a hint of unbelievable terror.
He couldn’t understand how this girl, once so weak and easy to bully in his eyes, had suddenly become so terrifying — so ruthless and decisive — like a completely different person.
Tuesday’s throat emitted raspy wheezing sounds, like a broken bellows being pulled.
He tried to speak, but only blood foam spilled from the corners of his mouth.
His lips moved in vain, unable to utter a single clear word.
Mu Xi remained on guard, the fork’s tip still aimed at him, ready to strike again at any moment.
She looked down coldly, her tone icy and void of warmth: “Why did you want to kill me?”
Tuesday’s pupils dilated and bloodshot.
He struggled to lift his eyelids, his murky eyes locked onto Mu Xi as if trying to carve a piece of her flesh with his gaze.
He summoned all his strength and choked out a few broken syllables from deep within his throat: “For… Ye… Lan… revenge…”
Mu Xi froze, a chill shooting from her feet to her head.
Revenge?
For Ye Lan?
The reason seemed absurd and laughable to her.
Back in the Garden, Tuesday claimed he had been punished and expelled by Ye Lan, begging her to trust him and escape the Manor together.
Now, looking back, his clumsy act and ridiculous lies had almost made her waver.
If she had truly believed him that day, she might have been killed defenseless right here in this dark, damp Underground Tunnel.
So, from the start, he never intended to help her escape.
He was always on Ye Lan’s side — a complete, utter liar!
Mu Xi’s heart sank further, swallowed by the fury and fear of being deceived.
But what she couldn’t understand was why Tuesday wanted revenge for Ye Lan.
If there was any hatred between her and Ye Lan, it was Ye Lan who imprisoned and tormented her.
She was the victim.
Revenge should not be someone else’s to take.
“Revenge… huh…” Mu Xi couldn’t help but sneer coldly, her voice filled with sarcasm and confusion, “What grudge do I have with Ye Lan that you need to take revenge for?”
Tuesday’s gaze grew even more blurred.
He panted heavily, his chest rising and falling violently as he rasped out hoarse words.
“I… hope… she lets you go… and lets herself go…”
“Let me go? Let herself go?”
The more Mu Xi listened, the more baffled she became.
Her brow furrowed tightly.
She couldn’t understand the nonsense Tuesday was spouting.
Let Ye Lan let her go?
How was that possible?
Ye Lan hated her so much she would keep her locked up in the Manor forever.
How could she just let her go?
And what connection was there between letting Mu Xi go and letting Ye Lan herself go?
Why would Tuesday be the one to kill her for that?
The logic was a complete mess.
