“Wei Yu, this is where your sister works.”
Lu Weizhu’s tone was gentle as she glanced at the café.
Probably because of Bai Yun, Lu Weizhu felt a strong sense of familiarity toward this café.
“Hmm, it looks really pretty.”
Lu Weiyu slightly opened her mouth in surprise.
From Lu Weizhu’s tone, Lu Weiyu understood that she liked this place.
To please her sister, Lu Weizhu deliberately showed amazement.
“Right? I think so too.”
Smiling, Lu Weizhu pushed open the café door and led Lu Weiyu inside.
“Yun Jie, I’ve brought my little sister.”
Entering the café, Lu Weizhu called out.
“Ah? Oh.”
Bai Yun’s voice came from the kitchen, sounding a bit surprised but quickly returning to calm.
She stepped out of the kitchen wearing an apron, with baking gloves on her hands.
“Here you are. I just put the cookies into the oven.”
Bai Yun removed her gloves and loosened her apron.
She rubbed her hands together and looked toward Lu Weizhu and the girl beside her.
The girl’s face resembled Lu Weizhu’s somewhat, but her hair and eye colors were completely different.
Bai Yun was a bit puzzled.
“Weizhu, is this your younger sister?”
She asked with some doubt.
“Yes, Yun Jie, this is my little sister, Lu Weiyu.”
Lu Weizhu sounded a little nervous.
Lu Weiyu stood quietly next to Lu Weizhu.
Unlike her sister, she was much calmer.
Carefully studying Bai Yun, Lu Weiyu found nothing unusual about her.
“Weiyu, this is my boss, her name is Bai Yun. You can call her Yun Jie.”
Lu Weizhu squeezed Lu Weiyu’s index finger.
Lu Weiyu continued looking at Bai Yun for a moment.
A sweet smile appeared at the corner of her lips.
“My name is Lu Weiyu. It’s nice to meet you, Yun Jie.”
She bowed politely.
Seeing the girl bend forward like that, Bai Yun’s mouth twitched.
It really seemed these two were biological sisters—they even shared the same habits.
“Nice to meet you too, little Wei Yu.”
Bai Yun reached out her hand.
She shook hands with Lu Weiyu.
Watching their interaction, Lu Weizhu breathed a sigh of relief.
Thankfully, no conflicts had arisen.
“Yun Jie, I’m going to change into my work uniform. You two can chat.”
She waved her hand and hurried toward the kitchen.
“Have a seat, little Wei Yu.”
After Lu Weizhu left, the two who weren’t very familiar with each other felt a bit awkward.
Bai Yun pointed to a nearby chair.
“Okay.”
Feeling somewhat unsteady, Lu Weiyu sat at the table.
From the girl’s movements, Bai Yun sensed her weakness.
She felt inexplicably tired for Lu Weizhu.
Bai Yun took out a plate of cookies.
“These were just baked. Have some.”
Bai Yun sat opposite Lu Weiyu.
“Thank you, Yun Jie…Mmm, very delicious.”
Lu Weiyu picked up a cookie and put it into her mouth, her cheeks puffing out slightly.
She looked cute and charming, completely different from Lu Weizhu’s type.
“Cough cough”
Bai Yun coughed twice, unable to resist cute things.
“You’re just as adorable as your sister.”
Covering her mouth with the back of her hand, Bai Yun muttered softly.
The person in front of her did resemble Lu Weizhu a lot.
“…But your sister is still much cuter.”
Lu Weiyu heard Bai Yun’s words as she held half a cookie.
“De…”
Being rejected like that, Bai Yun felt awkward for a moment.
Facing the girl in front of her, she didn’t know why she felt a little nervous.
Placing her hands on her thighs, Bai Yun sat up straight.
“Don’t you think so, Yun Jie?”
Lu Weiyu tilted her head.
“…”
Bai Yun became even more embarrassed.
The girl was clearly very cute but seemed completely unskilled in conversation…
In comparison, Bai Yun still found Lu Weizhu more likable.
The awkward atmosphere lingered until Lu Weizhu, dressed in a pink Maid Uniform, came out from the kitchen.
Considering Lu Weiyu’s presence, Lu Weizhu didn’t wear her usual hair accessories.
Her small arm, wrapped in bandages, was hidden under the Maid Uniform’s sleeves.
Lu Weizhu slowly walked to where the two were sitting.
“Yun Jie, Wei Yu.”
She nodded at both of them and sat down between them.
“Phew…Weizhu.”
Seeing Lu Weizhu return, Bai Yun finally relaxed and placed her hand on Lu Weizhu’s.
“What’s wrong, Yun Jie?”
Lu Weizhu glanced sideways, confusion in her eyes.
“I missed you, is that okay?”
Holding back something, Bai Yun was too shy to admit she was rendered speechless by Lu Weiyu.
She simply teased Lu Weizhu instead.
“Eh!?”
Sitting upright, Lu Weizhu’s face quickly flushed red, a flicker of surprise in her blue eyes.
Lu Weiyu clearly saw her sister’s reaction.
Her mood turned complicated.
Was this woman flirting with her sister?
Why did her sister only seem shy and didn’t react any further?
Lu Weiyu lowered her head.
“Ugh…Yun Jie, please don’t tease me.”
After a moment of dazed silence, Lu Weizhu shook her head.
“Hmm hmm.”
Bai Yun hummed a few times and squeezed Lu Weizhu’s hand.
Lu Weiyu’s mood worsened.
This person…seemed rather unreliable…
Her heart sank, and she began to worry whether her sister might be deceived by this bad woman.
“It’s almost time for opening. I’m going to get some things ready.”
Lu Weizhu stood up and left once more.
The front hall was left with just Bai Yun and Lu Weiyu again.
“Little Wei Yu.”
The smile vanished from Bai Yun’s face as she looked at the girl sitting not far away with her head down.
“Hmm.”
Lu Weiyu only gave a soft “hmm” without any further reply.
“Your sister is very tired because of you.”
Bai Yun recalled the earlier conflict between Lu Weizhu and Lu Weiyu.
She ultimately cared more about her employee and friend.
“I know…”
In a low mood, sitting on the sofa with her legs together, Lu Weiyu’s tone was somewhat heavy.
The girl in front of her was still just a child, and realizing this, Bai Yun spoke gently.
“You could try to understand her more. It’s really not easy for her. You’re her only family. If you don’t try to understand her and keep sulking over small things, I can’t imagine how hard that must be for her.”
Bai Yun picked up a cookie.
Still warm, it gave off a sweet aroma.
She bit lightly.
The crisp snap of the cookie echoed as a few crumbs fell.
On the sofa beside her, Lu Weiyu’s heart was in turmoil.
“Mm, I understand, Yun Jie.”
The woman in front of her didn’t seem bad.
She cared about her sister.
Besides, how did she know about the quarrel between her and her sister?
Did she have a good relationship with her sister?
Lu Weiyu fell silent.
She should feel happy.
After all, didn’t she want Lu Weizhu to be happy?
Now that her sister had found a new friend, she should be glad.
But instead, Lu Weiyu swayed slightly, lost in thought.
Bai Yun frowned, unsure if the girl had taken in her words.
“Little Wei Yu, your sister and I have to start working now. You can just sit here and rest, okay? If you want anything to drink, just tell me. Here’s the Menu.”
Bai Yun stood up, hung the ‘Open’ sign, and returned behind the counter.
