Sitting in the back seat of the car, Ning Wan felt dizzy.

After filling the vase with water and carefully placing each rose inside, she saw Lu Weizhu off at the entrance of the apartment building.

At the doorway, Lu Weizhu smiled and said farewell to Bai Yun.

Bai Lu turned off the engine and rested her head on the steering wheel.

Standing at the stairwell entrance, watching Bai Yun disappear into the crowd, Lu Weizhu sighed.

She walked into the stairwell, counting steps as she climbed.

As she walked, heavy footsteps not her own echoed in her ears.

She turned to look down, only to see the dark stairwell below.

This apartment building was much older than others nearby; no lights were on in the hallway, making it difficult for Lu Weizhu to see clearly.

“Probably a neighbor…”

There were obviously more people living in this building besides her.

She shook her head and kept walking.

The heavy footsteps continued, growing closer.

Lu Weizhu didn’t care much at first, until heavy breathing sounded in the hallway, making her uneasy and tense.

Turning around again, she still saw nothing.

Unconsciously, she arrived at the door of her rented apartment.

She felt in her pocket and found an old set of keys.

Inserting the key into the lock, the footsteps and breathing persisted.

On the third try, with a click, she finally opened the door.

The heavy breathing was now right outside.

Pulling out the key, Lu Weizhu slipped inside the apartment and slammed the door shut.
