“Wow!”
The small scythe, released by Monice, raised both hands high, making a gesture reminiscent of ‘praising the sun.’
Black mist surged from her palms, quickly shaping into a weapon almost identical to the large scythe Luo Shuangyue had summoned before.
Gripping the scythe in her hand, Luo Shuangyue could clearly feel that this scythe was heavier and more lethal compared to the previous one.
A ghostly purple glow danced along the blade’s edge, giving off an eerie sensation as if she had been transported to a hellish underworld.
Being struck by such a blade was a terrifying thought she didn’t dare entertain.
After summoning the large scythe, the little girl didn’t disappear but instead summoned another small scythe roughly the same size as herself, wielding it as she swung fiercely through the air.
“Seems like she can provide some combat power herself?”
Monice’s eyes lit up instantly as she watched the little girl violently swinging the scythe in the air.
“Quick, quick! Is there a target around here? Let’s test her damage output!”
Of course, there was no target capable of directly withstanding a Magical Girl’s attack. In the end, Monice had to step in and act as the test target herself.
Meanwhile, Luo Shuangyue finally confirmed that her leader truly was a Magical Girl — and a powerful one at that.
Monice’s Transformation State wasn’t much different from her usual self.
Compared to other Magical Girls, her outfit was far more conservative, primarily black, making her look more like a university professor teaching and nurturing students.
“Void Domain!”
Monice’s weapon was a black, mechanically styled staff. She lightly struck it against the ground, and a black orb enveloped everyone present.
The original research institute instantly transformed into a vast, empty, and flat plain. Above everyone’s heads appeared two long bars—one red and one blue.
“Why does this feel like a game?” Luo Shuangyue glanced up at the bars above her head. Her red bar was full, but the blue bar was about one-third empty.
Next to her, the little scythe wielder, who was also holding a scythe, had no display above her head at all.
Does this mean… this little one is invincible?
“This is a digitized space I created with my ability. It can display most things as straightforward numerical data,” Monice explained.
In short, this place was a testing ground with no real practical combat application.
Activating this domain consumed a considerable amount of magical power, and once activated, it didn’t affect anyone’s combat strength inside at all.
It only converted damage dealt by both sides into visible numbers.
All in all… it looked cool but was useless in actual battle.
Still, given the current situation, Monice’s skill was quite handy—it could at least measure the attack power of Luo Shuangyue and the little scythe.
“Crystal Prism Shield!” Monice tapped her staff again, and this time, a transparent crystal barrier appeared.
She then asked Luo Shuangyue to strike the barrier with full force.
“Full power? I’m not feeling great right now,” Luo Shuangyue hesitated.
“I’m not asking you to go all out, just use your normal full strength for the attack.”
“Oh, got it.” Luo Shuangyue nodded repeatedly, realizing that Monice didn’t want to see her ultimate finishing move.
She could still manage a normal full-strength attack.
Raising the scythe high above her head, infusing magical power into its blade, Luo Shuangyue took a deep breath, gripping the handle with both hands, and struck the barrier heavily.
Monice’s Crystal Prism Shield shattered with shards flying everywhere. The spot hit by the scythe was covered with dense cracks.
Above the barrier appeared a huge five-digit number:
-78569!
“The power is nearly reaching the level of a standard Full Bloom-Class Magical Girl’s attack…”
Before Monice could finish, the seemingly ordinary small scythe struck the same spot again, shattering the crystal shield completely.
Boom!
Above the shattered barrier, a six-digit number appeared boldly:
-121431!
The damage from the small scythe’s attack was much higher than Luo Shuangyue’s.
The number wasn’t entirely accurate because Monice’s shield had only 200,000 health, and the small scythe had just cleared out the remainder of Luo Shuangyue’s health bar.
The blue bar above Luo Shuangyue’s head dropped sharply after that attack.
Well, such ridiculous attack power must come with a cost.
“She’s stronger than you,” Monice said coldly to Luo Shuangyue, her eyes half-lidded.
You dealt a five-digit hit, but your weapon moves on its own and lands a six-digit one. Sounds like your problem, right?
“She’s using my magic power,” Luo Shuangyue said weakly, still holding the scythe’s handle.
That last strike nearly drained so much of her power that she almost blacked out and fell. The little one’s attack power was high but unsustainable.
That one hit alone sucked out a fifth of her magical power.
“Little one, can you use a little less force from now on? Otherwise, you’ll really squeeze me dry,” Luo Shuangyue said helplessly as she flicked the triumphant little scythe on the forehead.
She definitely didn’t want to become a burst-type fighter who could only swing five times before collapsing.
Whether the enemy died or not after those five hits, she was definitely broken. No thanks!
The little scythe tilted her head in confusion.
Though she didn’t quite understand why Luo Shuangyue was unhappy, she was obedient and decided to follow the request.
“Alright, have her swing normally twice and see how it goes,” Monice said as she summoned another crystal shield.
This time she wouldn’t let Luo Shuangyue attack but would test the little scythe’s output directly.
The result stunned everyone.
Just moments ago, the small scythe hit for six-digit damage, but now even with all her effort, she barely managed four-digit damage—almost no different from an Initial Bloom-class Magical Girl.
Luo Shuangyue looked curiously at the shield, which had been slashed over ten times by the little scythe but hadn’t lost so much as a layer of skin.
What was going on? The little scythe’s performance hadn’t been like this earlier.
She stepped closer to the scarred shield and noticed black stripes had appeared on it.
These stripes seemed to respond to her magic power…
Placing her hand on the stripes, Luo Shuangyue tried to channel her magic into them.
Suddenly, she felt her magical power drop drastically, just like before, and the shield exploded with a loud bang.
“When two attacks land in the same spot, they cause an energy resonance that instantly results in extremely powerful damage?”
After the second shield was broken, Monice retracted the domain. Luo Shuangyue was dangerously close to collapsing from lack of magical power again.
Repeatedly collapsing due to insufficient magical power in such a short time seriously harmed Luo Shuangyue’s body.
Monice wasn’t the kind of boss to treat her subordinates like disposable tools, and the Soul Summoner Princess and Xia Mo would never allow such exploitation either.
“Transform back and see if she still exists.”
Supported by Xia Mo, Luo Shuangyue nodded and removed the butterfly hairpin from her hair.
One by one, the butterflies flew away, and she reverted to her original form.
After she ended her Transformation, the scythe in the little one’s hands also dissipated into strands of black mist, returning to Luo Shuangyue.
As for the little one herself, she tried to cling stubbornly but only lasted a few seconds before turning into a puff of black smoke and merging back into Luo Shuangyue’s body.
“Since it’s a weaponized form, it follows the transformation?” Monice jotted down a note in her notebook and nodded.
With the necessary notes taken, it was time for some intense calculations!
“Everyone, here’s your chance for eternal fame—get moving!”
All researchers at the Research Institute of Extreme East City were once-in-a-million geniuses, but under Monice’s command, it felt like they were transported back decades to the days of old professors.
Sigh, the days of being squeezed for results were back again!
Not only were they exhausted, but even Xia Mo and the Soul Summoner Princess were drafted multiple times as control subjects to compare against the data Luo Shuangyue just generated.
By the time Monice finally released them, it was nearly night.
“Ah… so tired.” Luo Shuangyue yawned, looking listless after ending her Transformation. She had almost fallen asleep in Xia Mo’s arms just moments ago.
She figured it was exhaustion. Her body hadn’t fully recovered yet, and being drained of magical power twice in a row would leave anyone in this state.
Last time, after Xia Mo was knocked down and didn’t recover before the second full-strength fight, if not for a sudden burst of willpower, Xia Mo would have been done for.
“You’ve been expending too much energy lately; you need proper rest for the next few days.” The Soul Summoner Princess took out her phone and dialed while telling Luo Shuangyue, “I’ll have Yuan send you something to restore your mental energy.”
“That’s so embarrassing…”
“You’ve helped us so much; this small token is nothing,” the Soul Summoner Princess laughed heartily. She was very pleased with Luo Shuangyue—she was basically a perfect junior disciple!
And Xia Mo, too, was an excellent junior, easily among the best Magical Girls she’d seen in years.
Such juniors deserved proper care. They were humanity’s hope.
Since they had to wait for Yuan to deliver the items to the Magic Department, Luo Shuangyue and Xia Mo decided to stop by and say goodbye to the Scarlet Feather Flame Princess.
But outside the room where she usually stayed, Luo Shuangyue only saw Mysterious Dawn scribbling furiously inside.
The Scarlet Feather Flame Princess was nowhere to be found.
When asked, Luo Shuangyue learned the Flame Princess had grown impatient and gone to administer the Great Memory Restoration Spell.
