“So you mean, that little girl my good son brought home this time— the two of them clearly aren’t a couple, but in a room with no one else around, they’ve already started hugging each other?”
The noblewoman holding a tea cup raised an eyebrow as she listened to her dutiful daughter’s description. “And it was on the bed?”
“Mom, absolutely.” The shop manager’s daughter held up three fingers.
The noblewoman’s expression remained calm as she took a sip of tea.
“I don’t believe it.”
Though she had high hopes for her useless son and the little girl he’d brought home—just looking at them gave off the vibe of two who knew each other well and liked each other in return.
But even so, things didn’t move that fast, especially with such a good girl paired with such a hopeless son.
So she didn’t believe it.
Dreams have their limits.
But she truly hoped to see such a scene in front of her.
“If you don’t believe me, come with me and see for yourself. They’re still in the room right now. We’ll sneak over and peek through the door crack. One glance, and you’ll know if what I said is true.”
Upon hearing her obedient daughter speak so confidently, Gou Yu’s mother couldn’t help but show a hint of surprise on her face.
It sounded like this really was true.
But how could it be?
She set down her teacup and thought for a moment, then came to a conclusion.
There’s no way her good-for-nothing son forced anyone.
Bringing someone home this time wouldn’t have been by coercion either, right?
She kept telling herself there was no way her son could have lured home such a well-behaved and charming girl—it wasn’t by force or threats, who would believe that?
“I need to see for myself.”
She looked at the shop manager’s daughter standing beside her, who nodded knowingly. “Taking the general’s secret path, understood.”
Meanwhile, inside the room, Gou Yu and Zhu Niao were still wrestling on the bed.
Of course, it was Zhu Niao hitting Gou Yu, and the most he could do was pull at her cheek.
Eventually, this drawn-out battle ended with Gou Yu raising his hand in surrender.
Zhu Niao was triumphant, looking down on him with raised eyebrows.
“That’s enough, enough. Get off the bed. You didn’t even answer whether you want something salty or sweet. Later I’ll make you a table full of spicy food.”
Gou Yu waved his hand, and a tired Zhu Niao gave up arguing, slowly climbing down from the bed.
Just as she steadied herself, not even having the chance to tidy the light blue long skirt that looked a little messy, her gaze froze as if she’d spotted something eye-catching.
“There’s a photo frame on the bedside table?” Zhu Niao pointed to the bedside table next to Gou Yu on the bed, where indeed there was an exquisite natural wood photo frame.
Then Zhu Niao narrowed her eyes. “Hand it over, let me see what’s inside. It looks kinda familiar.”
Gou Yu, indifferent, propped himself up and reached for the frame.
It probably wasn’t anything important.
Thinking this, he picked up the photo frame.
When he clearly saw the contents of the photo inside, his pupils suddenly contracted.
Zhu Niao was right; even if she hadn’t looked closely, it should look familiar.
The background was bustling and busy, with blurred crowds passing by.
In the center of the crowd stood a boy and a girl.
The girl, wearing a hoodie, was on tiptoe, her slender legs straight, eyes closed as she placed a kiss on the cheek of the boy in front of her.
The boy’s face was blank and stunned.
It was as if he hadn’t had time to react to this sudden romance and love.
This was the kiss he and Zhu Niao shared at the amusement park entrance, dodging the staff who hated public displays of affection.
Looking at it this way, his sister really did put some effort into preparing the room, at least using every available item she could find.
This photo framed like this definitely gave off a romantic atmosphere.
But the timing and the people mattered.
If Zhu Niao saw this photo right now, she’d definitely kill him.
Gou Yu had no doubt about that, so he glanced at Zhu Niao beside him.
The little bird was still reaching her hand out to him. “Hurry up and give it to me. What are you doing? What’s on it? Just tell me.”
Gou Yu simply held up the photo frame with the back facing Zhu Niao, then slid it down inside his pants along the trouser line.
Afterward, he put his hands behind his head, wearing a look that said he was ready to sacrifice himself nobly at any moment: “I’m not telling you anything.”
Zhu Niao was stunned.
She couldn’t figure out what could be so important that Gou Yu was protecting it like that, even putting up such a stubborn stance.
After a moment, she made up her mind.
The more Gou Yu tried to hide it, the more she wanted to know.
Otherwise, what if one day she found out like today—after all this time—that Gou Yu’s family was really rich, and he was a wealthy young master?
So she moved her wrist.
“If you won’t talk, that’s fine. Let’s see whether your stubborn mouth or my fists are stronger.”
With that, she took off her little white sneakers, pounced on the bed, and landed on top of Gou Yu.
She punched his side.
Taking advantage of Gou Yu’s dazed moment from the weak blow, she quickly reached toward his pants.
His loose black trousers looked like they could be pulled off easily to find the hidden photo frame and see what exactly Gou Yu was hiding from her.
But Gou Yu, stubborn to the end, didn’t give up.
Even with the pain in his side, he held his crotch tightly.
The other hand, which should have been holding his aching lower back, instead grabbed onto the waistband of his pants.
“Hard-headed,” Zhu Niao punched Gou Yu’s side again. “Ha ha ha, your resistance is completely useless.”
With another weak blow, Gou Yu let out a muffled groan, but his trembling hands guarding his lower half did not move an inch.
Neither of them noticed the door to the room was opened slightly.
“Mom, I’m telling you, it’s definitely true.” The shop manager’s daughter lowered her voice, whispering to the noblewoman beside her.
But Gou Yu’s mother trusted what she saw with her own eyes, signaling her obedient daughter to be quiet, then gently pushed the door crack open.
By this time, faint sounds could already be heard inside—her son’s painful groans, mixed with the girl’s teasing laughter.
What on earth was going on?
She opened the door a little wider.
She saw Zhu Niao straddling her son on the bed.
The girl’s hands were pulling at her son’s pants, as if trying to pull them down.
Her son’s face was full of pain, but even so, he stubbornly refused to let go of his pants.
The two silently closed the door.
In the hallway, mother and daughter exchanged glances.
“Well…”
“No need.” The noblewoman raised her hand. “Let them be. This is all your brother’s own doing.”
It seemed two cries for help came from inside the room, but they chose to ignore them.
LMAO
That’ll awkward to explain eh
Not a couple, my foot. They’re so familiar with each other its like they’ve been married for years.
