“What does that mean??”
Liang Rou couldn’t understand what the other was trying to say, but her eyes followed Wen Xiaoliang’s gaze and landed on her own tightly clenched fist.
She slowly opened her hand and found that inside were two Fruit Candies, both squished beyond recognition.
“These are Fruit Candies a colleague gave me, is there something wrong with them?”
Liang Rou thought Wen Xiaoliang was utterly baffling.
But then again, Wen Xiaoliang had always been strange and mysterious—she was used to it by now.
Wen Xiaoliang sighed and shook her head.
She reached straight into Liang Rou’s palm, pinched up a Fruit Candy, and, ignoring Liang Rou’s protests, tore open half the wrapper, holding it out in front of her.
“Haven’t you noticed? Both of these candies were unwrapped and then re-wrapped in new wrappers… Don’t you find that suspicious? Why would someone take candies out of their original wrappers, put them into new ones, wrap them up again, and then give them to you?”
After Wen Xiaoliang finished this whole explanation, Liang Rou was stunned for a moment.
Her gaze dropped once more to the Stuffed Fruit Candy in her palm, and this time she did sense something odd about it.
Seeing the doubtful look in Liang Rou’s eyes, Wen Xiaoliang sighed again.
“And haven’t you noticed? The candy inside this Fruit Candy’s wrapper isn’t even the same kind as usual. Do you really think it’s some sort of upgrade? Or maybe a new version? Even if this kind of Fruit Candy isn’t that common… I can still do an Image Search online to see what it’s supposed to look like inside.”
As she said this, Wen Xiaoliang pulled out her phone and started an Image Search.
“By the way, I’ve eaten this candy before, so I know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, it’s normal not to know.”
She lifted her gaze, glanced at Liang Rou, and chuckled softly, “You need to be more careful in the future, Liang Rou. Some people may not have good intentions toward you~”
After saying this, Wen Xiaoliang fell silent, focusing on searching for pictures of the candy.
The world quieted down.
Liang Rou quietly looked at the girl in front of her.
She seemed thinner now…
Was it because she’d been looking for her all this time, filled with worry, unable to eat? Her wrist was still wrapped in a thick layer of Gauze Bandage—it must mean she’d hurt herself again…
When would she finally understand that this kind of self-harm wouldn’t win anyone’s concern? It would only hurt herself.
Before loving others, why couldn’t she learn to love herself first? Putting so much pressure on others… More importantly, the harm she inflicted on herself was far too deep.
For some reason, facing this yandere first love of hers, she always grew sentimental.
Perhaps it was because she remembered how she too had once been a naïve and ignorant Youth.
Youth…
Before she could finish her sigh, Wen Xiaoliang showed her the picture she’d found.
“Look, here—this is what the inside of the candy looks like. It’s a Hard Candy… Although they do have Soft Candy, the wrapper for Soft Candy is completely different from the wrapper for Hard Candy.”
Wen Xiaoliang completely unwrapped the Stuffed Fruit Candy in her hand and displayed it for Liang Rou to see.
“You can compare them if you want. The Soft Candy I have now is from the same brand, but the wrappers are totally different. The wrapper you’re holding right now is for the Hard Candy.”
She smiled meaningfully, “So someone wanted to hurt you, but you still thanked them with tears in your eyes. Tell me, aren’t you basically begging to be tricked?”
In an instant, Liang Rou felt as if she’d been struck by lightning.
But—Xia Rui had no reason to hurt her… Maybe it was just, maybe it was just… Uh, she couldn’t think of any good reason, but still, Xia Rui wouldn’t want to harm her!
Besides, if Xia Rui really wanted to harm her, she’d had much better chances.
Like the first time she went to Xia Rui’s house for dinner, got drunk, and slept like a dead pig—that would’ve been the perfect chance, right?
Or the time she had a fever and Xia Rui followed her home—she’d been so weak, unable to resist even if someone tried anything. Why wouldn’t Xia Rui “strike while she was down”?
Besides, she’d always been good to Xia Rui, and Xia Rui had been so passionate toward her…
Xia Rui’s family was wealthy and didn’t need money, so there was no reason for greed or murder.
Xia Rui was prettier than her, so there was no reason for jealousy. They didn’t even know each other before, no private grudges…
So, both logically and emotionally, Xia Rui shouldn’t bear any malice toward her, right?
Thinking this, Liang Rou snatched the candy back from Wen Xiaoliang’s hand.
“Alright, I get it, thank you.”
After saying this, she prepared to push open the Cubicle door and leave.
But Wen Xiaoliang caught her wrist again.
“I saved you once, okay~ Maybe in your eyes that doesn’t count as saving, but I was at least kind enough to help you. Are you sure you’re not going to thank me?”
Her smile still sent shivers down Liang Rou’s spine.
Liang Rou weakly asked, “Didn’t I just thank you? You…”
“Liang Rou, buy me a meal,” Wen Xiaoliang shamelessly said, “No need to treat me to anything fancy. Just the Stall we used to go to will do.”
The Stall they used to go to? Those must have closed ages ago… But just as Liang Rou was about to say so, she froze, cold sweat breaking out down her back.
This woman was fishing for information!
“I don’t think we’ve ever eaten together, have we?” Liang Rou forced herself to remain calm.
Wen Xiaoliang fell silent for two seconds, then laughed.
“Well, there will be chances to eat together in the future. So, are you going to treat me? If not…”
She leaned in toward Liang Rou.
“I can treat you too~”
Liang Rou was startled by her sudden closeness, hurriedly took a step back, and unlocked the door.
“Fine, fine, let’s talk about it on the weekend. Just let me go, I have a Client waiting!”
But Wen Xiaoliang still wouldn’t let go; her grip was too strong, and Liang Rou couldn’t break free.
Left with no choice, Liang Rou softened her tone.
“Alright, alright, I’ll treat you…”
With that answer, Wen Xiaoliang was finally satisfied and released Liang Rou.
Covering her face, Liang Rou dashed out of the men’s Bathroom.
At the Private Room entrance, she found Xia Rui searching anxiously for something.
“Xia Rui?”
She called out softly.
Xia Rui immediately turned around, her expression relaxing the moment she saw Liang Rou.
“You scared me to death, Senior! Where did you run off to? I was worried sick…”
Looking at Xia Rui’s genuine worry for her, Liang Rou felt a mix of emotions.
She paused for two seconds, and perhaps because the alcohol had left her mind fuzzy and unable to think deeply, Liang Rou still decided to ask.
“Xia Rui, I want to ask you something.”
Liang Rou looked seriously at Xia Rui.
Seeing how clear-headed Liang Rou looked, Xia Rui had a bad feeling and put away her smile.
“What is it, Senior?”
