“I’ve always felt like Lin Chu Xi is way too nice to you.”
Back in the dormitory, after a long silence, Su Xiao Nuo suddenly said this.
Su Nuo was puzzled.
“Really? It’s pretty normal between roommates.”
They weren’t freshmen or sophomores—three years living together, just the two of them.
Bringing each other meals was completely normal.
In her mind, Su Xiao Nuo shook her little head like a rattle drum.
“I’m not talking about bringing meals, nor any specific action. It’s more like… a feeling.”
A feeling that made her uneasy, similar to when Lin Yingluo had climbed into bed with her before.
“You’re overthinking it. Instincts are unreliable.”
Just as she said that, the dormitory door opened, and Lin Chu Xi walked in carrying two lunch boxes. Su Nuo hurried to help.
“Thanks for the trouble,” Su Nuo glanced at the bags and noticed the portions were noticeably larger than usual.
“Did you get extra dishes today?”
Lin Chu Xi nodded.
“Since it’s the last day before finals, I bought a bit more. Think of it as a little tribute to the cafeteria this year.”
Even though she’d still be eating here next year.
Su Nuo didn’t suspect anything—young people loved these little rituals in life.
She set the lunch boxes on the table, opening each small container.
The cafeteria’s big pot dishes weren’t fancy, but they were abundant.
Look at that, what a good roommate—what ill intentions could she possibly have?
She snapped open a pair of disposable chopsticks, just about to dig in when Lin Chu Xi suddenly spoke, “Su Nuo, will we see each other again this summer?”
“Huh?”
“I mean, do you have time over summer break? Maybe we could hang out together,” the girl said softly, “Like…”
Oh, this time Su Nuo understood. She had thought she heard something strange the first time.
Su Nuo looked up, her face brightening with a sweet smile.
“Of course! Whenever there’s a break, we can definitely go out.”
Hearing that, Lin Chu Xi’s mood lifted as well.
Yeah, three months of summer break didn’t mean they’d be apart for that long.
Maybe they’d run into each other unexpectedly sometime.
After finishing the meal and tidying up, Su Nuo rested for a bit, then climbed onto the bed.
Su Xiao Nuo excitedly shouted, “Open and fight~! Open and fight~!”
Someone unaware might’ve thought she was a Weapon Master.
Just as the girl got onto the bed and changed into loose sleep pants, pulling the small blanket over herself, the phone by her pillow lit up.
Picking it up, she saw two new messages from different people—
[Mom: Is it vacation now? Where are you planning to go?]
Su Nuo frowned slightly.
It seemed like concern but really sounded like she was being pushed out the door.
As for the other—
[Uncle Zhang: Xiao Nuo, vacation’s coming, right? When are you coming back? Uncle will pick you up.]
Emmmmm, though this was more enthusiastic, it somehow felt colder inside.
Also, since picking up the phone, Su Xiao Nuo hadn’t said a word.
Su Nuo ignored the messages for the moment, turned off the phone, covered herself with the blanket, closed her eyes, and slowly let herself drift toward sleep, then tried to recreate that feeling from before…
She entered!
Once again, in Soul Form, she arrived in her mind and pushed through the dense fog on the “surface.”
She immediately saw Su Xiao Nuo sitting on the ground, head down, looking dejected.
Noticing Su Nuo’s arrival, the cute little girl lifted her head, a forced bitter smile appearing on her small face.
“Sorry, Su Nuo, they…”
“It’s okay,” the girl said lightly, “I’ll take care of it.”
But Su Xiao Nuo wanted to cry even more.
“But I left you with such a mess, I… sob sob.”
The small girl in Soul Form sobbed pitifully, her eyes turning into circles, little pearls forming at the corners and falling one by one.
Su Nuo reached out to wipe them away gently and said softly, “It’s not all mess. Didn’t you also leave behind such a good body? Like you said, you worked hard for twenty years.”
“Sob sob Su Nuo!”
Su Xiao Nuo got emotional, cried out, and lunged forward.
Su Nuo laughed and caught her, about to pat her back when suddenly a soft sensation stirred between her legs—a mischievous little hand slipped inside.
“Wait, Nuo, you…”
“Su Nuo! These twenty years weren’t just for growing up!” the small girl yelled hoarsely.
“I’ve been training hard for ten years too, ahhh!”
She was fired up.
Su Nuo was completely overwhelmed by how intense Soul Merger could be.
At this moment, two souls intertwined within the same body, as if their cerebral cortices overlapped, countless neurons tangling together, the left brain massaging the right.
She felt exactly what Su Xiao Nuo experienced during her own practice—a completely blank mind, unable to think of anything.
“Mmm~”
In reality, Lin Chu Xi had just climbed onto her bed and hadn’t yet lain down when she suddenly heard a low moan.
Looking up, she saw the small figure beneath the blanket on the bed opposite her shifting slightly.
Her heart skipped a beat.
The scene appeared again—one that had been so familiar, almost daily for the past three years… well, maybe every other day.
After two weeks without, it had reappeared.
Lin Chu Xi knew what it meant.
From never seeing herself as human, to seeing herself as human, and now to no longer seeing herself as an outsider.
She didn’t disturb Su Nuo’s exclusive moment. She lay down, closed her eyes, and dreamed of the happy summer vacation where she and Su Nuo would hang out together, falling asleep peacefully.
Meanwhile, inside the girl’s mind, the soul with pale hair was the first to collapse, while the pink-tinged one sat astride the girl, hands on hips, smug and proud.
Years of experience and endurance had helped her hold on until the end.
“Su Nuo… I finally can… help you… where you’re not good… right?”
The small girl murmured before tilting her head, resting it on the other’s body, and falling asleep together.
Zzzz
***
“You’re early. She hasn’t started vacation yet.”
In a spacious apartment in the City, Lin Yingluo, dressed in casual homewear, brought over a pot of tea and set it in front of her friend.
“Besides, we don’t live here anymore. If you came later, you might not even find her.”
The visitor was Jiang Qin, the person Su Xiao Nuo called the introducer and online friend, and whom Su Nuo considered the middleman.
“What a shame. Who knew you were hiding her, not letting anyone see.”
Lin Yingluo was both annoyed and amused.
“Who’s hiding her? She’s still in school and hasn’t started vacation. Besides, I’ve already moved to a new place. If you want to see her, come to the Qiao Qian Banquet in a few days.”
“Alright, alright, I’ll definitely come. But speaking of which,” Jiang Qin studied her friend carefully, “she just took you down like that? How did she do it?”
“What do you mean by ‘took me down’? I just suddenly felt she was really cute,” Lin Yingluo folded her arms. “And why can’t it be me who took her down?”
Doesn’t she know how the big sister handled the big-chested cute girl that rainy night?
Ask Su Nuo who was holding whom then.
“Alright, alright, let’s just say that’s the case. Back on topic,” Jiang Qin put down her teacup, “anything going on at the company lately?”
Lin Yingluo’s expression turned serious as well.
