Changfei and Lu Li did not manage to get into the hospital, and the reason was so simple that even they found it hard to believe—the hospital wasn’t open.
Playing with the lock in front of her, Lu Li stood with one hand on her hip and the other on her forehead as she turned around, her slender, dark eyebrows tightly furrowed.
Seeing this, Changfei shrugged. “The door’s locked, and you still want to come in with me…”
Before he could finish speaking, a cold glint flashed.
Lu Li, without Changfei noticing when she turned, slowly sheathed a thin blade that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere in her hand.
With a sharp “clang,” the chain and heavy lock securing the door dropped to the ground, and the massive door creaked as it swung open into the hospital.
A cloud of dust rose up, causing the caught-off-guard Changfei to cough repeatedly.
His gaze toward Lu Li shifted to shock.
“What was that in your hand? Where did it come from?!”
The knife in Lu Li’s hand vanished with a flash of white light after she sheathed it.
A trace of pride flickered in her eyes.
That brief moment had finally restored a bit of her self-respect, lifting her mood considerably, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of her lips.
In response to Changfei’s shocked question, she maintained the mysterious aura of a Master, the corner of her mouth curling into what could only be called a perfect arc.
“This is a Magical Artifact. Any normal cultivator would forge a weapon that can be stored within their own body. But I doubt even if I explained it more, you’d really understand.”
“Oh… I see.” Changfei didn’t respond with the disappointment or sadness Lu Li expected.
The girl’s indifferent expression showed no trace of longing for the Will of Gods and Immortals…
Lu Li’s newly raised chest sagged a little again.
It was like being a Go Master boasting about the exquisite skill with Jade Go Pieces and Go Board to someone who didn’t understand the game at all.
The other person would only smile politely without a hint of shared feeling, leaving one infinitely frustrated.
That was exactly how Lu Li felt at this moment, completely unaware that Changfei had already strode into the hospital.
Changfei didn’t linger in the lobby but went straight to check the Clinic Department and Inpatient Department.
The Clinic Department was completely empty—no one was there.
But in the Inpatient Department, Changfei saw quite a few girls sleeping quietly and shook his head in resignation. “So it really is like this.”
“Have you noticed something already?” Lu Li’s voice came from behind, calm enough to indicate she had sorted out her previously messy emotions.
Changfei didn’t turn his head. In the hospital ward, he reached out to test the breathing of the girls one by one, his expression strange as he said, “They’re not dead. Looks like it really is what I thought…”
“What is ‘it’?” Lu Li frowned, clearly displeased by Changfei’s evasive way of speaking.
She hadn’t figured out that when Changfei came to the hospital, he seemed to have already planned the next step.
This made her feel as if something inside her had shattered again.
But being both inexpressive and overly rational to the point of coldness, she didn’t care about what had broken.
She simply waited silently for an answer.
After checking the girls, Changfei almost collided with Lu Li again as he turned around.
This time, having learned his lesson, and seeing that she was no longer as busty as before—probably because of bandages—he chose the absolutely least awkward way to handle the situation for both of them: he slipped!
As long as he slipped, there’d be no contact with her chest!
This way, he wouldn’t hit his nose or anger her!
Changfei immediately executed the slip motion he had simulated countless times in his head.
But he failed.
He “accidentally” stepped on Lu Li’s foot, and the two of them “accidentally” slipped together toward each other!
Warm hands pressed against Changfei’s chest, their bodies nearly pressed tightly together, both feeling each other’s body heat.
Lu Li never imagined she would end up in such a ridiculous situation, but catching a whiff of Water Agarwood incense scent from Changfei’s body, she couldn’t help but take a deep breath—it smelled nice.
But that moment of scent made her immediately embarrassed.
How did she feel like a creepy, pervy old man taking advantage of a young girl?
“Cough cough cough cough… Excuse me… miss, can you get up? You’re crushing my insides… and I think some ribs might be broken…” Changfei broke the silence, his cheeks red.
Unfortunately, his redness wasn’t from shyness but because Lu Li was pressing down so hard he was struggling to breathe!
I’m going to die, going to die, going to die… Changfei thought, utterly humiliated that he—a man—might die beneath a beautiful young girl.
No dignity left… He had to warn the girl who had just taken another deep sniff.
Realizing what had happened, Lu Li turned around, climbed off Changfei, and stood up, coughing awkwardly twice. “You… are you okay?”
Changfei rolled his eyes and held his chest as he stood, still hurting but feeling some swelling—probably the result of the pressure rebounding.
He just hoped it wouldn’t swell too badly.
Exhaling deeply, Changfei shook his head.
He didn’t dare say much because, in truth, it was his own actions that caused Lu Li to fall and land on him.
Right now, he felt like his behavior was a lose-lose situation.
Had he known, he might as well have just used his head to ram into Lu Li’s chest!
Feeling a bit resentful, Changfei thought this through…
“Uh, are you okay? You’re bleeding from your nose.” Lu Li’s voice finally revealed some emotion.
She hadn’t expected that such a small collision could cause the girl to bleed from the nose!
Although it wasn’t her fault, she still felt a little annoyed.
Was it because she was too heavy? No, no!
Lu Li shook her head slightly, guessing it was the impact from the fall that caused such severe internal injury.
It shouldn’t have anything to do with her weight—yes, that’s it.
Changfei had no idea what Lu Li was thinking.
He was wiping his nose, cheeks still flushed, nearly stepping into a territory he absolutely shouldn’t.
If he wasn’t careful, his future might just turn into that of Kame Sennin from the Dragon Ball series—a strange, useless adult.
“Again, again! One more time!”
While the two were lost in their own thoughts, an unexpected shout suddenly caught their attention and both their gazes snapped toward it.
