【Zero: ?】
“I can’t believe it, she replied in just two minutes,” Bai Xiaonuo exclaimed, “Is Big Jie really that fast?”
Why wasn’t she this quick when she was with me?
The Ancestor lay silently beside her, speechless. “Maybe others haven’t even started yet.”
Bai Xiaonuo thought it over and agreed, then typed back: 【Jie, I’m out of living expenses at college. Can you lend me some money? Oh, and there are a few more photos too.】
A few more, even better ones.
【Zero: What is it that you’re always thinking about? I’m giving you money so you can live longer, not for some silly reason like that.】
【Zero sent you a red envelope with 2000】
Bai Xiaonuo’s fingers tapped the phone screen: 【Do you still want these last few photos?】
【Zero: Send!】
“Tch, such a hypocritical woman, hmph.”
Soon enough, Zero received the remaining photos. After glancing at them, his breathing grew heavy.
Bai Xiaonuo was right—they were definitely something else, pure and flawless.
Half a minute later, Zero’s hand reached for the Magical Fairy Wand.
That thing had metal inside and could be controlled.
【Zero: I’m going to rest now. My phone will be on silent tonight. Don’t message me or disturb me.】
Bai Xiaonuo happily pocketed the red envelope.
Seeing the last message from Big Jie, she lay down and said, “Ancestor, do you think Big Jie actually used it?”
She already went straight into Do Not Disturb mode.
The Ancestor was silent for a few seconds before saying, “I think, whether she used it or not, it’s best you don’t expose her.”
Bai Xiaonuo pouted, “Hmph,” seemingly agreeing but secretly thinking, I’m not just going to expose her—I’m going to ask her how it feels and for feedback.
How can I sell something without customer feedback?
All in all, not only did she find a place to stay today, she also got some living expenses—mission accomplished. Zzzz
….
The next day arrived.
Bai Xiaonuo was already up at seven, lying in bed playing on her phone.
She sent a leave request to the counselor, saying she hadn’t finished unpacking her luggage.
There were too many classes today; she didn’t want to go. She’d go on Friday instead.
“Xiaonuo, Xiaonuo, how can you be so lazy?” the Ancestor tried to urge her on from beside her. “Have you forgotten your powers? You need to train hard if you want to get stronger.”
Bai Xiaonuo, busy with her daily game routine, replied casually, “Train? Should I find someone who looks special, tell her I’m a succubus, and fight her?”
If I lose, won’t I have to eat a lot of mugwort?
“…” The Ancestor was at a loss for words.
And so, Bai Xiaonuo didn’t get up, just shifted positions in bed while playing on her phone—lying on her stomach with a pillow under her waist to save effort and make gameplay easier.
When watching videos, she laid back with the phone resting on Tuan Tuan, so she didn’t have to hold it.
If the video wasn’t good, she’d just look at Tuan Tuan—convenient and pleasing to the eye.
Until a voice came from outside the door: “Nuo Nuo Jie, do you want some strawberries? Just bought fresh ones.”
Bai Xiaonuo realized she hadn’t had any water all this time and was a bit thirsty. Perfect timing.
Too lazy to change, she stepped out wearing her cool pajamas, shorts, and little bunny slippers.
The living room held a plate of fresh, juicy strawberries, but only Xiaoyu was there.
Seeing Bai Xiaonuo come out dressed like that, Xiaoyu’s gaze immediately appraised her from head to toe without hesitation, muttering “not bad,” “pretty good” every so often.
“Xiaoyu, are you alone?” Bai Xiaonuo asked. “Where is everyone else?”
“My Jie went back to the Zudi… ahem, home for a bit. As for the other tenant, she seemed to have her own things to handle, so I didn’t bother her.”
Xiaoyu popped a strawberry into her mouth and handed the fruit plate to Bai Xiaonuo.
As the landlord’s younger sister, Xiaoyu was very cute—her appearance somewhere between a loli and a young girl, basically a golden-haired loli.
Bai Xiaonuo didn’t know her exact age, but she was definitely younger.
Her soft golden hair reached down to her waist, petite and delicate, but with a surprisingly ample chest.
How to describe it?
Like a white steamed bun from the family’s hometown bakery—older than the aloof roommate, younger than the two big Jies.
Of course, nowhere near as old as herself.
On that point, Bai Xiaonuo felt she could be proud.
“Are you in middle school?” she asked, curious. “Why aren’t you in class today?”
Xiaoyu nibbled on a strawberry and replied, “I don’t go to school. You can’t learn anything there.”
She didn’t mean to look down on school, but really, what can school teach you? Foxfire magic? How to manifest a celestial fox?
Bai Xiaonuo didn’t understand what she meant, thinking, oh wow, a rebellious girl.
“Hmm, school may not teach much that’s useful later, but there are still some things you need to know. How about this: if you want, I can be your tutor and teach you some things.”
It’d be even better if I could offset some rent with the tuition.
Xiaoyu glanced at her—actually, more like at her chest—and said mysteriously, “There are some things I really want to learn. Just not sure if you can teach me.”
“Of course I can,” Bai Xiaonuo said, folding her arms and propping them on Tuan Tuan, making her chest look even more pronounced. “I’m not bragging, I can do everything.”
Seriously, she could do everything—and even control metal.
“Great,” Xiaoyu smiled sweetly, “I’ll come to you for lessons next time.”
Next time?
I’ll be in your bed tomorrow! the little fox thought fiercely.
The two happily ate strawberries together.
Bai Xiaonuo chatted now and then, curious about the beautiful landlord sisters.
“Did you come from home together? Your family doesn’t mind you not going to school?”
“Yeah, my Jie and I came out together. Of course, my family doesn’t mind—they know school can’t teach me anything.”
“…So what do you two usually do for work? Just collect rent?”
“Of course not. My Jie and I just came out recently, and we’re planning to start some kind of human… some kind of work. We just haven’t decided what yet,” Xiaoyu said indifferently. “Anyway, we have plenty of startup capital.”
Bai Xiaonuo nodded silently, thinking she’d figured it out—the landlord sisters were definitely a pair of rich young ladies who’d just left home to start a business.
They were a level above those ignorant, mediocre classmates at school—rich and spoiled.
Need to find a way to get some pocket money from them…
The strawberry feast was enjoyable for both, though each had their own little schemes.
Still, it didn’t affect the seemingly solid friendship they’d just begun to build.
“I’m going to school tomorrow,” Bai Xiaonuo said, “I’ll probably be back in the afternoon.”
“Then come back early,” Xiaoyu smiled sweetly, “My Jie and I will throw you a welcome party in the evening.”
“Yeah, yeah, nothing too fancy. Just treat me to a big meal.”
A day spent slacking off and taking leave happily passed.
Before going to bed that night, Bai Xiaonuo hesitated outside the door of the black-haired, long-straight-haired girl, but in the end didn’t dare knock.
Forget it, there’ll be time later. Today, better go back and sleep. Zzzz
Ding ling ling, ding ling ling~
Mmm… the girl turned over and kept sleeping.
“Xiaonuo, time to get up,” the Ancestor shook her softly in Tuan Tuan’s embrace, “First class starts at 8:30. You still need breakfast and time to get there.”
