Her voice was a bit too loud. There were already a lot of people at the cafeteria entrance, and now, all of them turned to stare at him in unison.
Pei Xingyan wasn’t the type to get embarrassed easily, but even he couldn’t withstand a crowd pointing and whispering about him.
He quickly pushed the card in Su Shanshan’s hand back to her, lowering his voice to stop her.
“Why not? Don’t you like me? There’s plenty of money on it, don’t turn it down, okay…”
She stammered, drawing even more attention their way.
“Alright, alright, let’s go inside first, we can talk later… So many people are watching…” Pei Xingyan pulled her inside, quietly warning her as they walked.
But this only made Su Shanshan unhappy. She swept her gaze around fiercely, and snapped viciously:
“What’s there to look at? What’s wrong with me wanting to spend money on my baby?!”
Her tone was fierce, as if she’d start a fight at the slightest provocation, totally unlike the soft and gentle girl she was in front of him.
Pei Xingyan, unable to endure such awkwardness, could only increase his strength, dragging her into the cafeteria by force.
“Hehe, hehe… You’re willing to have physical contact with me now…”
Her attention shifted to this detail, and as she muttered to herself, she leaned happily against Pei Xingyan’s shoulder.
Pei Xingyan subtly pulled away. “What do you want to eat? I’ll go buy it.”
“No, let’s go together, okay?” She blinked at him, unwilling to be apart for even a moment.
Pei Xingyan had no choice but to nod in agreement.
“Hehe…” In the long line, Su Shanshan giggled foolishly, her eyes sparkling at Pei Xingyan. “You really are so good-looking. I used to say you were a bit skinny, but I repent now, I was just playing dead! You’re perfect in every way~”
Pei Xingyan was at a loss for words, especially since everyone around them was now staring.
Although he didn’t think he was ugly, being praised so openly from the heart by a stunning girl in public still made him a little embarrassed.
But Su Shanshan wasn’t finished yet, continuing on her own, “And you’re even willing to buy me breakfast, you’re really perfect~”
At this, the people around them couldn’t stay calm anymore.
The guy ahead of them in line glanced at the three breakfasts he’d bought, then at the empty space beside him. He thought of how he’d been bringing breakfast for his goddess and her boyfriend for months, and all the nitpicking words from the goddess. Suddenly, his emotions collapsed—he covered his face and ran off, bawling.
“Baby, what’s wrong with that person?” Su Shanshan asked in confusion, pulling Pei Xingyan back a step.
She wasn’t worried about him; she was afraid the incident would affect those around her.
“No idea,” Pei Xingyan shook his head. “Maybe he heard what you said and remembered something sad.”
“He probably feels inferior,” Su Shanshan mused. “But that’s normal. You’re so perfect, how could he even think to compare himself to you? He should take a good look at himself.”
That’s a bit harsh… The way she treats different people is really worlds apart…
Pei Xingyan sighed quietly and left with the breakfast.
Being stared at by so many eyes was exhausting—he really was a bit hungry now.
But the girl beside him clearly didn’t intend to let him eat in peace. She monopolized the food and insisted on feeding him.
All her previous gentlemanly promises were just stalling tactics. She had no intention of missing any opportunity for physical contact or to get closer.
“Just let me feed you~” she whined. “You promised to use my card, but you didn’t, and now you won’t eat my food either. Don’t be so cold, okay?”
Pei Xingyan cried out inwardly, “Oh my god.” He really couldn’t figure out what this girl was thinking. The only thing he could sense was her determination to push her luck.
From the very beginning, she’d said no physical contact, then secretly changed to calling him “baby,” and now insisted on hand-feeding him.
What’s next? Sitting on his lap in public?
He didn’t doubt it—she’d probably use the chance to feed him to slip her fingers into his mouth.
But he couldn’t win against her, and he was afraid she’d suddenly explode again. So, while she wasn’t paying attention, he quickly bit off the food from her hand.
“Huh?” Su Shanshan twisted her waist coquettishly. “So fast? Can we do it again~”
“I’m full.” Pei Xingyan shrugged regretfully.
Su Shanshan couldn’t keep making a fuss. She smiled a little sadly, her eyes darting around.
“Then… can you feed me too?” she asked with a sly grin. “It’s only fair to reciprocate, right?”
All her previous promises were thrown out the window—she was clearly just pushing her luck.
“My hands aren’t clean, probably not very sanitary,” Pei Xingyan found an excuse.
Su Shanshan pouted in grievance, but didn’t dare lose her temper. She could only vent her frustration by taking big, angry bites of her food.
But her mouth was shiny and moist, even without lipstick it gleamed prettily. Her lips were plump and rosy, her mouth small as a cherry, and when she bit down, her lips squished adorably against the food.
With a bite like that, it wasn’t punishment for the food—it was a reward.
Pei Xingyan watched quietly, waiting for her to finish eating.
Of course, one reason was that she was very pretty, but more importantly, Pei Xingyan believed in the saying: “Don’t scold a child before a meal.”
Of course, Su Shanshan wasn’t his child, but no one likes to be scolded before eating—it ruins the appetite and leaves you hungry.
Pei Xingyan had gone hungry before; he didn’t want anyone else to go hungry.
So he waited quietly.
As Su Shanshan ate, she snuck glances at him, seeing he was also looking at her. She pursed her lips and smiled shyly.
The meal ended with this bashful back-and-forth. Su Shanshan wiped her mouth, then cupped her chin and gazed at Pei Xingyan.
It seemed she could never get tired of looking at him—from his hair to his jaw, every time her gaze landed somewhere on his face, she smiled from the heart.
To call her a lovestruck fool was no exaggeration—a foolishly smitten, almost outrageously beautiful girl staring at you like that…
If this adorable girl really was someone’s girlfriend, no one could ever get tired of it.
But that’s only if you ignore her extreme reactions.
Pei Xingyan cleared his throat softly and suddenly asked, “I have a question…”
“What is it?” Su Shanshan tilted her head.
“Well… why did you get so worked up?” Pei Xingyan said, “You were really agitated the day before yesterday and yesterday—it kind of scared me.”
“What day before yesterday? I didn’t do anything,” she denied calmly.
“You didn’t? You cursed at me for a whole day and night. Of course, I’m not blaming you, I just want to know why.”
“I didn’t!” she stubbornly denied.
“You didn’t?”
“Really, I didn’t. Why would I do that to you? You’re so nice, why would I curse at you?” she asked blankly, her tone a little unnatural.
“You didn’t?” Pei Xingyan raised an eyebrow and asked again.
Su Shanshan shook her head, just as stubborn.
“Then what about these messages on my phone?” Pei Xingyan produced the key evidence, scrolling through the screen—countless messages, easily numbering in the thousands, both voice and text, all like sharp blades aimed straight at someone’s heart.
Su Shanshan stared, thinking, then shook her head, denying it.
Her emotions began to crumble, tears spilling down her cheeks like broken beads.
She clung tightly to Pei Xingyan’s arm.
“I don’t know what happened, but it wasn’t me!”
She didn’t seem like she was lying.
