The Black-robed Person moved swiftly— almost before Kane could react, the figure was already dangerously close.
But at that very instant, a graceful silhouette darted between the two.
Princess Vanessa raised her Ice Sword, blocking the Black-robed Person with flawless precision.
With steady, practiced swordsmanship, she flicked her arm, easily knocking the dagger from the Black-robed Person’s grasp.
The Black-robed Person hung in midair for a heartbeat, her eyes betraying her shock. She hadn’t expected Princess Vanessa to act so quickly.
Nor had she expected this woman to come to Kane’s rescue.
After all, according to the rumors, the relationship between the two was anything but good…
But her daze lasted less than two seconds.
The Black-robed Person’s body tensed; she twisted in midair, and in the same motion, drew two fresh daggers from beneath her robe and hurled them toward Kane.
Seeing this, Princess Vanessa quickly redirected her sword, swinging it forcefully in the direction of the daggers.
Two streams of icy air shot from her Ice Sword with a sharp whistle, striking the daggers and freezing them, suspending them in midair.
A moment’s pause.
—Crack!
The ice shattered like broken glass, scattering across the floor. The frozen daggers broke into pieces.
During this time, the Black-robed Person landed on the other side of the bath.
Princess Vanessa shielded Kane, standing before him like a loyal Juice Knight guarding the Prince of Many Waters, facing off with the Black-robed Person across the bath.
The battle paused for now.
Princess Vanessa’s cold eyes locked onto the Black-robed Person. Her voice was displeased:
“To strike at someone defenseless and unarmed— don’t you think you’re being a bit too despicable?”
Kane: “……”
Well, it’s true, but could you be a little more tactful? No matter what, I was once your former fiancé… Kane cried manly tears in his heart. Once again, he silently vowed to become stronger.
On the other side, the Black-robed Person let out a strange chuckle at Princess Vanessa’s words.
She lifted her head, and from within her hood, those bloodshot crimson eyes glared at Kane like an enraged Beast, as if black blood was about to flow from them. She spoke coldly:
“Despicable? That’s exactly how you should treat a scumbag like him.”
“Someone as despicable, shameless, and filthy as him, who toys with the feelings of his lovers, deserves nothing less than death.”
Upon hearing this, Princess Vanessa’s brows arched in a peculiar way, and her gaze flickered to Kane out of the corner of her eye.
It was as if she somewhat agreed with those words. She said nothing, just silently stared at Kane.
Kane couldn’t help but twitch at the corner of his mouth… Wait, aren’t we supposed to be on the same team right now? Shouldn’t you be on my side?
If the circumstances were different, Kane would have loved to shout out his grievances.
But the Black-robed Person’s words forced Kane to consider her identity.
From what she said, it was clear she bore deep hatred for him— so much so that she’d risk her life to break into the Duke’s Mansion, determined to kill him no matter the cost.
But that just made Kane more confused.
Never mind what happened back in the Capital.
This past month in Loharin, he’d been nothing but well-behaved.
Not to mention all the good deeds he’d done— every day, it was just back and forth between the general store and home.
He worked hard, took care of his family, and doted on his wife— he was practically the New Era Good Man.
So there’s no way he’d made a new enemy lately.
But if it was someone he’d offended in the Capital, it made no sense for them to wait so long to come for revenge.
The only person he’d provoked recently was…
“Are you from the Tower of Truth?”
Kane voiced his suspicion.
The moment he said it, the Black-robed Person visibly flinched.
The next second, she gripped both hands tight, flinging open her robe, and drew two more daggers from her long, shapely legs.
“Kane, go die.”
Her wild, tangled hair covered her bloodshot, feverish eyes. Once again, she hurled all the daggers in her hands toward Kane.
Princess Vanessa raised her Ice Sword high and slashed down at the air before Kane.
A towering Ice Wall rose from the ground, blocking Kane from view.
The flying daggers stabbed straight into the Ice Wall.
The next moment.
As the ice shattered, Princess Vanessa leapt forward, her bathrobe billowing in the cold wind.
The two clashed.
A battle as fierce as the Great Dao’s Destruction erupted.
As the saying goes, when the gods fight, it’s the mortals who suffer.
Poor, weak, and helpless, Kane hugged his arms and curled up in the corner of the bath.
He was completely baffled.
All he’d wanted was a late-night snack with Miss Taliya, but in quick succession, he’d been drained dry by a yandere maid, boxed up by his former fiancée, and now assassinated by a mysterious Black-robed Person……
Such dramatic twists and turns— only Taliya, the Heaven’s Chosen Heroine, could rival such an experience.
He was supposed to be an ordinary Main Villain— so why was his life even more exciting than the protagonist’s?
Kane couldn’t figure it out.
But he knew, right now, this was his only chance to escape.
He didn’t mean to, but after peeking at a princess’s naked body, anything less than being cut into a thousand pieces would be getting off easy.
Kane kept an eye on the two combatants while cautiously, inch by inch, crawling away.
Soon, Kane saw the open door.
It was light!
The light of freedom!
The breath of freedom was calling to him!
He was about to become light!
Freedom, here I come!
“Young Master~, I’ve found you~.”
A familiar, seductive voice whispered in his ear.
Kane’s heart skipped a beat, his body froze, and cold sweat broke out all over him. Large beads of sweat dripped from his forehead, pattering onto the tiles.
That ticking, as it hit the tiles, sounded like the countdown to his last moments.
Like a rusty screw, Kane stiffly turned his head— meeting the gaze of Enya, who sat beside him, smiling sweetly and still wearing Miss Taliya’s clothes.
Kane forced a stiff grin:
“H-ha, what a coincidence, Enya. I didn’t expect to run into you here.”
“Yes, what a coincidence indeed.” Enya smiled, lifting a broken piece of the nightstand. “I never thought I’d be so close to Young Master just now. If it weren’t for those soldiers interrupting our loving time, I would never have missed you.”
“I see.” Kane laughed awkwardly and waved his hand. “Well, it’s getting late, so I’ll be heading out now.”
“I’m right here. Where else would Young Master want to go~?”
Enya’s snowy-white, delicate hand gently rested on Kane’s back. It was just a light touch, but Kane felt as if a mountain was pressing down on him.
Just like Sun Wukong pinned beneath Five Finger Mountain, he couldn’t move at all.
Kane’s mouth twitched as he forced a nervous smile and whispered:
“B-bathroom… okay?”
“Nope~.”
“I thought so…”
Kane was like a kitten caught by the scruff of the neck by fate, powerless to resist, picked up by Enya.
It seemed this time, he really was doomed…
“Who is it! Which little punk stole my clothes! And my precious sword!”
But as another figure burst through the window— wearing a maid outfit, burning with rage— Miss Taliya’s sudden entrance threw the entire scene into chaos…
